Thanks for sharing. Note that Muslims also have to pay annual 2.5% zakat on syariah compliant investments except for Tabung Haji and AHB investments which offer zakat deducted dividents.

Hi Mr Yap You are one of those financial advisors who is very cautious and defensive in your investment advice. Sober advice, I would say. We need large doses of such advice, something not always palatable to a lot of people. Learnt a lot from your 1st book (years ago!) and your news columns. A humble request though, pls improve on the audio quality.

We experienced the pinnacle of our era, but it is now gone. Like what happened to Rome, the corrupt administration will bring this nation to an end. My condolences go out to anyone who is close to retiring and may be worried about whether their pension will be enough to pay the rising cost of living. Insane fiscal policy, poor regulatory policy, poor energy policy, and poor foreign policy

Personally, I can connect to that. When I began working with Julie Anne Hoover, a fiduciary financial counsellor, my advantages were certain. In these circumstances, I would always advise getting professional help so they can steer you through choppy markets and just give you indicators and strategies for knowing when to enter and exit the market.

EPF giving tiered dividends seem to be a good idea to help those from low income. But it's not fair to other people who voluntarily contibute to their own EPF and can achieve more through their own hard work. They have their own retirement goals too. As for me, I voluntarily contribute each month. I work hard to save some money to contribute each month because I know how important saving for retirement is. It's sad to see that there were people withdrawing money from EPF to get that instant gratification. And later, complaining that EPF money is not enough and that EPF should not have taken money from them. Thank you for this video, sir.
@semileong
@semileong 2 года назад
If it is tier then voluntary extra contribution would be meaningless and risky then... Funds lock and having meagre interest rate...

Hi Mr Yap. What are the chances of implementing EPF tier dividends in your opinion?
@yapsmoneylifeshow2444

It’s hard to tell. So far, there’s no official announcement by EPF.

Mr Yap, you keep mentioning 7% - 9% returns in your examples for managed funds. For the past year and a half, we're witnessing negative returns in the double digits. Should we continue to dollar cost average? How are you so positive in the medium-long term outlook? Even EPF's recent 6.1% seemed like a gold mine comparatively, especially for those of us who do not contribute.
@yapsmoneylifeshow2444
@yapsmoneylifeshow2444 2 года назад
Past performance track record has shown that a well diversified global portfolio with the right strategy can achieve 7 - 9% compounded return over medium to long term. It is hard to predict any return in short period of 1 to 2 years. Dollar cost averaging is one of our recommended strategies in volatile market. Applied correctly, you will be amazed with the results.

to lower insurance premium you need to scarify on services provided by insurance agent and ensure your next-of-kin know how to claim if anything to happen to you by getting coverage from insurer like Kurnia, P&O etc. Rule of thumb: You need to do a lot of research and understand it well. Just pay insurance agent some commission if lazy to do all those works to avoid getting scam.
@yapsmoneylifeshow2444
@yapsmoneylifeshow2444 2 года назад
The ideas is to have optimum level of insurance coverage on various needs and pay necessary premium. It is never about bypassing insurance agent or financial advisor.
