Formerly the owner of one of the UK's largest parrot propagation facilities, Mike Liddel-Taylor kept and bred parrots for over 20 years both as a hobbyist and professional aviculturist. Few species have escaped his attention. Particular favourites being Macaws, Cockatoos, Amazons, Conures and the Poicephalus group which includes the famous African Grey.
Great video, if a little dated info on wing clipping. Sadly the seller of our bird clipped like this and our poor bird crashes badly to the floor while we wait for them to grow back in. Not sure if you're still married, but wow your wife was really vile to you how she spoke to you. Can't imagine this didn't end in divorce!!
We never cut wings to our amazon, heis abot 18 years old and flies over appartment however he wants and he ever wants tofly out through the window.... He sees the glass somehow. I cannot see how people cut wings to birds😢
I agree how would people feel if some calls prick cut of their legs so never clip a birds wings I've got an orange winged Amazon who has clipped wings and I feel So sorry for him It just evil and wrong
I brought wild orange wing parrot name Rocky and tame my self handfed parrots cost more money Rocky 12 year old now l Love my Rocky thank you for video love it
Too many in rescues, many many more abused neglected and killed. My boy is 69 yrs old. Most Cockatoos are abandoned as soon as sexually mature as they are VERY intense. Please research.
@@Soren_Caique_xD holy smokes I remember watching these!!! I wrote this last year when I was in the hospital for a week wow 😯 So like, a LOT happened this year lol the reason that I wanted to start breeding was because a car accident changed my physical condition a few years back. That week I spent in the hospital, I was being treated for a seizure. That I never had. Turns out my brain had been badly injured and never treated for years. I had moved into an apartment suitable for breeding (it was in my lease!) literally the day before I was hospitalized. Sadly I would end up losing the apartment along with my finances. Good news tho, I’m a persistent sob and I’m making a miraculous recovery from what I now know to be a movement disorder. Science tells me to expect a lifetime of disability but my daily experience says I’ll make a full recovery. The whole experience with illness has really made me appreciate every breath I take (cuz they used to hurt lol) and I do really want to start building a new life with little expenses so I can be productive from home with nature. So lots of things in motion but still definitely my plan. I actually got a pair of budgies while I was a mess cuz my heart was still with parrots. I know it’ll take me some time to get my life in order, but breeding parrots is 100% the plan! Caiques are actually on my shortlist too!
@@macintoshimann9892 Wow what a story, this story you have told me makes me think you those this path right now because you feel the need to experience this plessure now that your life have come to a holt and had you thinking what you really wanna do. Beeing with parrots and the exotic nature they have is a blessing and can wash away alot of bad feelings just beeing with them its like they talk to your inner self in a way we cant explain. I wish you a 100% recovery and i strongly believe you can because of your own mindset and believe system. I wish you all the best to build up a place to raise parrots i think its some of the best you can do to yourself. All the luck and good vibe from me Søren and my caiques.
@@Soren_Caique_xD Your enthusiasm is welcome, Soren. Nice to hear from somebody that appreciates the majesty of parrots as well. You picked up on something too, this whole experience has given me so much clarity about what matters in life. Losing what I thought was everything was the greatest thing to ever happen to me, truly. Parrots have brought me so much joy in my life. To be able to bring that joy to others was a childhood dream. Now it’s motivation to learn to use my body again. Love is the only thing I decided means anything and parrots are full of it! I can’t wait for my budgies to breed and pass that joy on to someone else very soon I’m hoping! I even plan to hand raise, wouldn’t have been possible 6 months ago 😉. And quite seriously I hope within a few years to be known as a crazy bird person haha. Blessings and joy to you and yours, friend.
I love the love this guy has for the majestic birds. The magazine he was handling read year 1993. I hope he is still around. I'd like to thank him for everything he's done for these beautiful creatures; for dedicating his life to them. A BIG thank you!!!
just listening to his voice makes me feel so soothed. I don't even have a African gray pair. I don't know why I'm watching this, but I'm going to finish it. His voice and the content is so interesting. lol
