Correct me if I’m wrong, but with the diaphragm pump, you don’t have to worry about shutting the motor off while you’re brushing around what you puddled out? I use a trash pump currently but have a diaphragm set up for next season. The trash pump I have to shut off after I puddle out the seal. I can’t let it run constantly and circulate, I learned the hard and had it heat up and harden in the pump on me. Just making sure the diaphragm pump works as I’m understanding?
This was the best episode you have ever put out. Ryan has a gift and passion you can feel through the screen… he needs his own show or be a co-host something… too much wisdom not to be out there in the world letting it out..
We are in Connecticut and use mastic all the time. We use a crafco patcher ll. Its been a great material for larger cracks and alligator/spider cracked areas. The mastic we use is from crafco also.
Couple questions if you don’t mind me asking Do you charge as new layout every time you stripe over fresh sealer Do you always remove wheel stops and charge accordingly Do charge crack fill by the lf ? Thanks from Houston Tx
Everyone in my industry which is paving. They are all cut throat backstabbers. We get work and stay busy because we have been around a very long time. Started in 1961. Best way to stay busy .... there is no secret. Hustle your ass off .. Henry ford famous quote. If you think you can or you think you can't. Either way your right Seems like in the last 10-15 years there is a new paving or sealcoating company every month They work for peanuts do terrible work. And homeowners / business owners are ok with it because there price is so cheap .... not the same business it used to be that's for sure
Erick is a great example and role model, I been working with him for years with my design business and has always pushed me to get better. Great person to look up to
Family owned and operated paving company since 1961 We stopped sealcoating residential about 10 years ago. Everyone buys or builds a Sealcoat rig, runs some Facebook ads ….. and they are in business. Used to be a good business. Not a way to make a few extra dollars. But actually a good business….. it no longer is. You got guys coating driveways for .20 cents a foot . It’s a seasonal business … can’t go to work when it’s cloudy with a chance of rain, or if you have a rainy week your stuck home , sealer is close to $4 a gallon here in the east coast Take into account it’s seasonal. We are able to Sealcoat about 7 months of the year … rainy year knocks that down to about 5-6 months…. Because it’s so easy to get in business….I see about 15-20 sealcoating rigs driving on the road every day. Guys here are sealcoating driveways anywhere from $100-200 bucks . 100 percent over saturated market …because it’s very inexpensive to get into business. If your not getting .40-50 cents a sq ft. You are basically just trading dollars. Not a good business anymore. Not a good business. It used to be. But it’s over saturated Unless your sealcoating 12-15 driveways a day or putting down tank loads of sealer on commercial work. There is no money in it anymore
As someone who has worked with dirt everyday for the last 15 years. That shits hard af to make something look THAT clean with dirt, sand and clay. Well done to these guys, shits mad impressive.
Nothing about this indicates it was a government paid group of machine operators, but even if it was, how do you figure it was a waste? Sending money to other countries is the real waste.
I've seen a lot of bad reviews for the store bought brands of sealcoat like Latex-ite, Black Jack, Henry and others. A lot of reviews where the product washes away with rain or starts peeling right up a few months. What do you recommend or what have you had the best experience with?
Petra was by far the most expensive quote I received but Chris' reputation in the community speaks for itself, when anyone polls the community of social media the resounding recommendation is Petra Paving. Driving by and looking at some of his work sold me, every driveway looked flawless, his crews always look professional (boots tied, shirts tucked in) trucks are always clean. Chris showed up at exactly 11am for an 11am appointment, he was a man of few words, he helped me decide the best dimensions, took some measurements and presented the quote, he ended up being quite the contrast to a few of the salesmen estimators that would come out in the week following.
