I own a Porsche 986 Boxster S and have a interest in Porsche, VAG and a wide bunch of other cars. I would love to share all my Knowledge and thoughts with you guys and hope you find it enjoyable and informative to watch!
One of the best vids showing what can be achieved by us "have a go heros" nice job and I think the mod is a no brainer for those wanting to lift their boxster interior. I have done the Dash centre console trims as an initial project with very happy results so seeing the centre tunnel console upgrade just adds fuel to the interiors fire! Nice vid and well done on a great job.! 😎
The surrounds are Wurth Klapp fix surrounds. They lock when you shut them. You need a Wurth red key or two thin pieces of steel simultaneously pushed together to open the lock. So no opportunist is stealing the plates. Simply utilise the existing holes to fix the surround and then snap the plates inside.
Good luck getting these surrounds! It took me two registrations with Porsche to actually join the register! The first one was lost and after successfully joining, I am still waiting for the surrounds, over 9 months later. Still on back order according to the local OPC
When lifting the centre console out there is also a wire to remove from the locked compartment clip which can break easily so look underneath when lifting the back
Hi. I got the classic number plate surrounds for my 986 about 2yrs ago from Porsche Solihull. Like you, I thought the rear looked great but was unconvinced by the front. I ended up reverting back to the old front plate but kept the rear.
this was a great review man i’m buying these for sure for my jetta, im looking for something that has similar to oem comfort but the lowered look this seems like the way to go
Nice!! Just painted my 987 console and trims with arctic silver, 92U, as well....waaaaay longer than i expected and countless iteration of sanding and repriming or painting....but worth it :-)
Is the dyno done with RON 99? Mine is remapped on RON 98, good 205/17 tires and bilstein B14. Deleted the sound actuator and added sound dampening in de boot. No optical mods. Philips sells LED H4 that are TüV approved in germany for the UP. The only mod I would like is lowering seat position and a sports seat.
I have an 03 Boxster S which I bought a year ago 75k FSH. I have so far spent £1900 on basic maintenance which the previous owner avoided , but money well spent to me. You can't take short cuts on this type of vehicle & as long as you keep on top you shall have a very reliable car Indeed. Can't wait until next week to fetch it back from the wheel refurbishment garage ( another well spent £700 ) . Roll on the summer weather & to show this car off.
Good video! What gear shifter cables did you use to replace the old ones? Mine is having the same issue and I don’t want to replace like for like, I would rather an aftermarket option that will last
@@gavinmorris1929 I was exactly the same wanted some upgraded ones. I used numeric shifter cables in my car. Just google numeric racing and you should find them.
www.topgear.co.uk/porsche-986-boxster-cat-back-with-chrome-tips?mfp=search%5B986%5D%2Cstock_status%5B0%5D This is the exhaust. I believe it's a UK company
Question, if you find your road+ noisy and say the full res is the one you would pick rather. Then why do this mod at all? Is there a performance gain? Or only the look of the big end tip?
I really liked the Road + exhaust it was just a little too noisy when cruising down the motorway. I would recommend the resonated version as it will still be a improvement over the original with not so much drone compared with the Road +. I doubt there would be much difference in performance and yeah the big tail pipe does look pretty cool too. It really depends what your looking for from an exhaust. hope this answers your question.
UPDATE: I did end up removing this from my car as the longer I had it on the car the more I preferred the original look. This is just my personally preference and I'm sure some people will love the look.
Hi, i already have an aftermarket exhaust that now needs changing as its rusted out on the pipe welds. What is the drone like at 2500 and 3000 rpm / 70mph? Mine has a drone that can be annoying, whats this one like. thanks.
Yeah it does drone a bit when you’re driving on the motorway. 5 gear at 70mph isn’t too bad. I don’t do a lot of motorway driving in my car so I can overlook it but it’s definitely not quite on the motorways.
Ordered from the link, went to fit it today but its not compatible with my 2018 model. Looking into it now it appears theres a change in switch part way through 2018 although mine does look like the one on the left hand side on the video picture which is a bit misleading. Anyway all I can say is best removing the whole thing first to check first if your going to do this. Anything 2017 or older the part WONT fit, anything 2019 onwards will probably fit, anything in between is guess work and will definatety need checking first.
Apologise if my video was misleading. This was never my intention and have made changes to the video title and description so I hope this never happens to anyone else.
@@RicsCars thanks for the reply, it is a decent video that's better than I've done & with good intent on genuine enthusiasm to improve your car and I applaud that. I was a bit miffed I can't deny that, however you can't be blamed for any exclusions as specifics of car components change all the time. It was up to me to check specifics before attempting this and was lashing out with my comment in frustration. Anyway no harm done. Have a good day fella and be assured there's no bad feelings, I apologise to you also if I caused any bad feelings ✌️
