I know it's always the C0 people like to talk about but I think Paul David sounds the most interesting around B1 - G2. He has a tremendous amount of weight in the lower second octave but it's not the typical timbre of a low bass. It almost sounds like he shouldn't be able to sing that low but still somehow manages to pull it off effortlessly. Some of this will be down to studio fx (there is definitely a heavy use of compression and bass boosting) but there is still some very legitimate technique behind his singing.
If you hear this aria in its entirety then lanza is the best to sing it. I love jussi version.. These two tenor had so much emotion in ther voice. None of the rest do no compare. Pav voice is very thin and lacks emotional to me. Everyone to their own.
Ites actually makes me laugh a little because you just hear him in the background singing for awhile, as you're hearing them vocalize😂. Literally cant even do that or id pass out.
It's not really a fair matchup. Only Colton Ryan was singing in performance of West Side Story. Although his vocals weren't perfect, his passion was real. 8 performances a week of West Side Story has to be absolutely a killer. Did Jeremy Jordan ever do the full show?
Great idea!Great compilation. Very informative. I've seen compilations showing Tim's range particularly his low range. This is the first showcasing Rob who is a chameleon vocallly and can slip into any genre.
Taro Ichihara gave a little "that was quite an accomplishment" smile at the end. Love that ring in Tito Schipa's B4 and Carlo Bergonzi's C5. You know that Yijie Chi would hit that C5 as soon as he opened his mouth, but I think that Franco Corelli was born to sing this specific genre of music. What a beautiful arch. Guiseppe Sabbatini and Giacomo Aragall also achieved the same with his C5 and Daniel Matousek reached his effortlessly. Nicholas Gedda performance was one of the most thrilling. I still think that Jonas Kaufmann should be a baritone. These are some of the few that I replayed over and over.
Julian Ovenden wins NO QUESTION! Close second being Jeremy Jordan! Both with such control and support, yet such power and freedom. Very vocally taxing song to sing, and very rewarding if you sing it right!
