I know this may be stretching it a bit but its almost like, atleast till kh3, a part of roxas is stuck here. Not literally more like wherever little part of him that can still remember xion is stuck at this part of his life. Part of roxas is trapped in that momment where he had to come to realize his life would never go back to normal. Even for the briefest of moment roxas thought maybe he could go somewhere, anywhere away from the organization and just preserve any semblance of a happy life he had left but once he made it to the clock tower part of roxas's mind remained trapped on the precipice of his entire life falling to pieces.
I love how you slpliced in clips from the movie. Makes me appreciate the nods to the actual fight they added to the choreography of that scene, like Roxas using glide to avoid the attacks like you would in the game proper. Never noticed that before because the last time I fought final Xion was right when the game first came out 😅

Just so KH3 takes all the deaths and sad moments like these in the franchise, pisses on them, and now everyone is magically alive, god i hate what they did in KH3. KH ended in 2 for me.
saves before the point of no return have always been so fascinating to me. it’s like you said: it’s eternal. as long as you reopen the save file, your character is doomed to repeat what may be the most harrowing part of their life. and i think you’re right, there’s something deeply sad about Days of all preventing you from leaving. you can do holo-missions if you want, but fittingly, they are nothing but hollow memories of a better time. there’s something really poignant and liminal about this particular end state.
This sounds horrible and the end of Kingdom Hearts. My gut tells me it’s Disney and SE’s ethical committee who are responsible. Horrible and depressing news. Nomura really inspired me and my art style.
I think KH died along time ago. Its actually a good descision to have new staff and creators involved to provide a fresh restart for the series, maybe the next big saga won't end up all convulated and spread across so many different consoles and platforms. So this might be a good thing despite what people may think. On the other hand it could also be the death of it if it doesn't have the DNA of the original creator.
Nomura retiring and the placements of new writers is such a bittersweet reveal !! I hope we stays in til the end of KH to see it through ! alsooo the fact they'll be leaning into the explanation for the Iconic Line Sora say's gaaaaahh im nervous it turns out like Sora is the fantasy character living within the real (yozora) world 😭😭😭😭
Even if Nomura retires, i wouldn't be surprised if he just took a backseat and helped to new team to retain his vision for the future of the series, similar to what George Lucas did after he sold Lucasfilms to Disney (which didn't turn out so well in all fairness). You can retire and still be involved to some degree. I do believe he loves this series and the characters he created, it's his life's work. I don't think he would just nonchalantly pass it off to the next guy, and this is probably why he's writing KH4 with an ending in mind, so that even after he's gone they can't really screw it up because he already laid the groundwork for a complete story
The timing of this is interesting to me. Nomura clearly wants to use Kingdom Hearts to fulfill his original obligation to Fabula Nova Chrystalis, but now he's talking about retiring. I'm worried there wad some health scare that happened behind the scenes to make him realize how old he is. If so, then maybe Versus XIII is some cursed project we aren't allowed to see the full extent of. Though I'm not too worried about new writers coming in. This is just something that happens from time to time with any long running series. If anything, I actually think Nomura laying down the ground work for an entirely new part of the cosmos and giving it to a new team as a blank slate is pretty cool of him.
I can appreciate the short and sweet news report lol. While it does make me a little sad to hear Nomura is considering retiring, at the same time I'm happy for him, not everyone can do what they love forever, it's gotta end at some point or another, just like how Sakurai can't keep making Smash Bros games, you just gotta know when to stop. Even if their involvement is just a supervisor afterwards. And as for the other things, I'll see how the new writers do, then make my judgement. And it's gonna be interesting to know wtf Sora was talking about, since he sounded like he was talking to a therapist for depression lol.
