Welcome to Far North MtG! My name is Zach and here I'll be posting Magic the Gathering content specifically cEDH. Subscribe for gameplay videos, off meta deck techs, and general discussion videos.
Why did you choose to play AD Nause on your turn - you could have play that on your opennents end step so you draw cards then on the begininng of your turn you untap and are open with cards in your hand and open mana...? You went off and won but you could have played a slower safer game althought the C/F kills any interaction so I see why you chose to go off. Not too shabby, bud!
@@jamesspinella2037 hey thanks for checking out the video! I definitely could have played it a little slower and waited until an end step to fire it off. I don’t recall exactly what my reasoning was but I think it was that swat was my only interaction in hand, if I had to use it to protect my naus, I would for sure lose my flail to Shane’s seal or whatever it’s called and not have that up for the follow up turn but if I went for it when I did I could guarantee having the flail protection for the turn since I had the seat for the seal and all I needed to get was breach or a way to access it and I could go off. Definitely could have gone for it in an end step though, probably would have been safer since I essentially knew Najeela didn’t have interaction since if she did, she would have protected Najeela most likely when it got enchanted + I know Selesnya and mono red have minimal interaction so I didn’t necessarily NEED the flail protection and going for it a turn later could have been safer Thanks again for watching :) cheers
Powerbalance doesn't do anything game breaking like Counterbalance does. is it sad that i knew Kinnon was the winner of every game these decks have before the game even started?
Hell yeah! They’re great! The channel logo here was actually draw by their drummer, Vinnie. Got his art page instagram in the description of the video if you want to check it out. Dude does killer work
Unfortunately none of us are making it this weekend 😔 didn’t work out with our schedules to make it this time but we’ll be at the next one! I’ll try to talk Dillon into going and bringing Selvala!
You can do that if you do it in a specific way! If you never put the card from the top of library on the bottom with the scry, you’ll always only ever be looking at the top card and can’t unexpectedly hit e zone so you can do that until you hit e zone at which point scry it to the bottom and continue. Thanks for checking out the video :)
Big mistake 06:50 - You fetched Nicol Bolas (CMC5) when SIsay was 5 Power which is not possible. You should have fetched for Kinnan instead of Bolas first to get her to 6 Power and get more mana on the way.
Whoops 😱 Good catch! Completely missed that in game/editing. I did notice in editing that I should have just immediately gotten Emiel instead of Bolas on that search, would have been cleaner with Dockside and would have avoided me uploading an illegal play. Thanks for watching anyways :)
Absolutely. Especially with such a high dockside count there. It is what it is, always learning and improvising! Going to pin your comment so people can see this here
@@user-qr1ut4hz1o Aminatou and Ertai combined only have Blue, White, and Black unfortunately so the guy above is correct, it was a misplay but I also could have gotten Emiel which would have had the same result on the game 😅 thanks for checking out the video :)
6:28 flesh duplicate should’ve came in as a nadu, sac the original to the legend clause, giving you the ability to reset all your nadu triggers since flesh duplicate is a new instance, and you could’ve stormed off a lot more.
@@M15CH13F yep, I definitely missed that play there in game! My inexperience with the deck was showing there, this was maybe my 3rd or 4th ever Nadu game. Thanks for checking out the video :)
@@FarNorthMtG no problem, I absolutely love Nadu. I’ve been theory crafting with it since release, and finally have the deck, but I haven’t played with it yet and I’m so excited to.
11:58 if casting a spell for it's Flashback cost, if the spell gets countered it goes back to graveyard? So casting Flashback cost only exiles itself if you successfully cast it? Also i just want to mention; Nadu, Winged Wisdom is Tier SS Selvala, Heart of the Wilds is Tier B Shorikai, Genesis Engine is Tier D Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh // Thrasios, Triton Hero has 1344 decks (0.032%) Rank #803 or AKA "Untiered."
@@MageSkeleton good catch! I just had to look this up after your comment. It actually should have been exiled after being countered and going back to the graveyard! We did this wrong here. Luckily didn’t really change anything but this is good to know for the future. Thanks for checking out the video! :)
I enjoyed your video. And thanks for explaining the combo thoroughly :) On the first section of the video, when you were highlighting cards from your decklist, would it be possible to have the cards appear a little but larger? For those of us viewing youtube on our phones, the cards were kinda hard to read. I liked and subscribed!
@@ufoturtle08 Glad you liked it! Also thanks for the feedback on that, that’s good for me to know! I’ll be sure to adjust that in future deck tech videos :)
Can anyone tell me if nomad-en kor and nadu work the way i think. I use nadu in my 99 and i find being able to target everyturn for 0 causing nadu to activate on ppls turn is good idk if it works though
The most fun part of this video eas the fact that even with whiffing, the only reason the table got 1 more turn after Nadu sculpting a hand of multiple counterspells was that Otawara cannot be countered. That is in my opinion the biggest problem with the bird. Had it been any castable removal instead of ability, the bird draws off of it for free then has a huge chance of that draw being a free or 1 mana counterspell, punishing the player who kept up mana for removal instead of playing for their own board. I really dislike Nadu's interaction with removal, like it sickens me in 60 cards and it sickens me in 100 cards (where removal is really scarce already in cEDH, and even when you act responsible, you get punished for it) 😂
@@paolodecesaris169 yep I completely missed that play in game 😅 my inexperience with Nadu was definitely showing there. Thanks for checking out the video :)
@@ajuggas actually you can! yes you cannot unequip the Shuko without another creature but you can reactivate the ability to equip for the purposes of targeting Nadu - Shuko (or any equipment for that matter) don’t check if the creature is already equipped, there’s no need to “unequip.” as long as you can pay the equip cost, you can technically activate the ability to target the creature again. Greaves is the exception to this since it also grants Shroud. Thanks for checking out the video also :)
@@FarNorthMtG you can not "requip" to the same creature either again there must be another creature on the battlefield to preform this action! you might want to check out the basic rules for equipment. thank you for trying to miss inform everyone. I will now use you as learning for other judges.
@@ajuggas I’d recommend you look it up actually before you accuse me of spreading misinformation. equipment do not require it to be a new creature you equip to. 702.6a Equip is an activated ability of Equipment cards. “Equip [cost]” means “[Cost]: Attach this permanent to target creature you control. Activate this ability only any time you could cast a sorcery The only thing it checks is that you have a creature to attach it to, equipment don’t check to see if they’re already equipped to the creature being targeted. People use this same combo with Shuko and Cephalid Illusionist to mill libraries. It’s also literally on the gatherer page for Shuko :)
Kinda of a non-game this time around; but try to convince Dillon to play Infectious Bite instead of Bridge Works Battle, given it can also be a win con looping with Ewit Same with the new lands from MH3 - Shifting Woodlands can turn into a big boi/cradle/nyx that is currently in the grave as a mana boost, or Talon Gates to ensure Selvala makes it to the next turn or phase out a blocker for lethal - I'm thinking forest > shifting Woodland, Ronom > Talon Gates Love to play me some green lamborghini
As a Nadu owner, the fear of ban is real (at least with shuko). But what will decide its fate will be the forfun players. Other cards were banned because forfun and non cedh metas...nadu can really shine at edh 100 (in Brazil is edh 500, which is "100 dollars lists") and highpower metas with combos etc, but if the casual players insists in Nadu it will be banned. They didnt insist with Tassa oracle, high standard partners and kinnan, so I hope nadu goes the same wway
When you only have 1 creature out, how can you keep equipping it? I thought the rules stated that you cannot unequip it and the equipment has to target another target before going back?
@@UT91490 you can’t unequip it but you can reactivate the equipment ability, equipment don’t check to see if the creature is already equipped, it’s just reactivating an ability that targets Nadu :)
When Shorikai flashed back Sevinne's it makes a copy of it as well so they would of had to counter both of them. Sad that got missed cause it could of saved the game
At 5:51 with having two clones I would cast meta morph copying Nadu and keep the copy to reset the ability and then copy your token maker with mana after.
You made 2 many scute swarms u don't copy twice you just make a scute swarm for each scute u have so you should've only made 10 when you had 8 copies but that didn't change the outcome good game
@@MetalsitoX yup! Good point. That definitely was better. I missed that play in the game! My inexperience with the deck definitely showing there, I think this was my 3rd or 4th ever Nadu game so I definitely could have played that better!
@@FarNorthMtG makes sense, people still experimenting with the bird... plays insanely well vs everything, and bowmasters not interacting with it and being a 4 bottom makes it stick like glue in the battlefield :(
@@martinlefebvre963 you can re-equip to the same creature even if it is equipped already! It’s just reactivating an ability, Shuko doesn’t care if Nadu is already equipped. Thanks for checking out the video though :)
Why do you use a Flesh Duplicate on a Scute Swarm instead of on Nadu itself, sacrificing the original to the Legend rule and restarting everything with a new "Nadu"?
Ya know… damn. I definitely should have done that lol that could have been the push I needed to close out sooner than I did. This was my 3rd or 4th time playing the deck so my inexperience with the deck shows there 😅
@@FarNorthMtGanother thing I think you could have done if your running dryad arbour you could have gone invasion for 0 then have a scute swarm trigger then that would be 4 more deep I believe
I noticed that in post and forgot to say something about it in the video but yeah that would have been huge for me :( I kept a suuuper greedy hand and got punished for it, it is what it is lol thanks for watching the video :)
@@FarNorthMtG Figured you decline the search with boseiju because you just tutored. But i guess if you just tutored for a land it would have been better to put it straight into play. 😂
