HA!!! 47 years later, and it's STILL one of my favorite tunes!!! I miss when Phoenix could embrace the utter freakin' silliness of living here in the desert, and give a nod to our western heritage at the same time, even IF through beer AND weed goggles! The explanation provided is exactly as expected, and probably spot on! I had occasion to use my favorite line from this song most recently, when my sweet wife brought home three new pairs of jeans from Costco earlier this spring, for me. I sang, "Don't get us wrong and think we'd pass up the chance, to make it big and rich and own THREE good pairs of pants!" She has the most amazing way of simply staring at me in Cantonese... NOW, to go further with this album, has ANYBODY got as nice a clean recording of what I think was the final song on the album, 1948 four door Plymouth rag? ANYBODY? I've spent years of my life singing not only this song, but specifically, the "1948 Plymouth Rag", 'cause in the late eighties, I bought a 1948 Plymouth, built it as a hot rod, and spent until 2013 driving it all over the country as my only car.
OMG, I can't believe I'm listening to you on my computer and just saw that you're going to be playing in NYC. I hope you remember me from my years at CBS Records/Sony Music (when I was running the College Promotion Department, I believe.) I'm going to try to come to your upcoming gig in NYC, and hope I have a chance to talk with you then. Best, Debbie Newman

Hello Maggot Marlow, I come to you in good faith. I am in search of the song 'We can make it' by Steve Fritz which features on the album 'KC103 Home Cookin' '. In a previous video of yours, linked here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h8o1HhnOclY.html you are playing another song from this album, It would mean the world to me if you are able to play this song. I hope you are well and have a nice day.
I can’t believe nobody has liked or commented on this effort. I found it by searching the senator. Thanks for posting this. My husband is studying this for his immigration test. It’s nice to hear the story the senator is telling. 😜

I've been looking for a recording of this song for decades. Back in highschool, my best friend's dad had this massive music collection. In it, he had a locally made mix tape from 'Fester Plugg and the Stilt Chickens apparently from the actual band, which consisted of one dude and his garage. The name was hilarious, so it stuck with me. For years, I'd bring it up in music conversations for a laugh, but could never find any actual recordings of them. Until I found this exact same record which contains this one song. The mix tape had other songs. Always wondered what the story behind them was.
I stumbled across this post and thought I should reply: I am the guy responsible for this recording (assuming that "responsible" is the applicable word here). So here is the real back story: Some strange space aliens landed in my back yard in something that looked like a cross between a flying saucer and a Ford F-150 pickup truck with a strangely romantic-looking rifle rack. They ranted for seeming centuries about something they called "the trickle down theory of economics" until I almost tricked down my pants. Then they gave me this song and disappeared in a purplish haze, or maybe it was purple rain (rain was a rare phenomena in Arizona). Then the drugs wore off.... Ok, so I had been recording some stuff and some friends told me about the upcoming first Arizona Sounds album and said that I should submit something. I got an application and it said like all entries "should in some way reflect the Arizona lifestyle". I thought, hmm, what is that, a bunch of drunk cowboys riding their pic'kem up trucks in the desert.? So I recorded this as a joke, thinking that KDKB would never accept it and the rest is infamy.... Another bit of trivia is that the "Stilt Chickens" name was inspired by this bad joke "Put the stilts on the chickens Ma, I want scrambled eggs for breakfast". But seriously, I am interested if anyone has any other Fester Plugg tunes, like "Armpit Booge", etc., and how you may have acquired them.
@@georgegilman4270 Thanks for such a detailed reply, I actually have several music inclined friends who wanted to know the story behind Fester Plugg. Funny stuff. I have no idea where my buddies dad had that old tape from exactly. He’s king since passed. But he lived down in that area and had a bunch of reel to reel and cassette tape mixtapes of various odd songs and local bands, and I believe the album he had contained two or three other songs but it’s been like 30 years, so I have no idea what they were. I do know he lived down in Arizona before moving to California, so I assume he got the stuff locally.
I'm just amazed someone else knows about it. I'm an avid vinyl collector and love these original radio station compilations. I love the song but know little about the band. Can you tell me more ?
@@maggotmarlow4228 KDKB did their Arizona Sounds albums yearly from '77 until about '81. SOMEWHERE in the quagmire of my life, I have them all, I just haven't seen them or owned a turntable in over 30 years or so to play them. Unfortunately, my original copy of this album fell victim to the first Mrs. Quinn applicant's rage one night, and was daintily snapped in half, yet exists in this state in it's sleeve to this day. I did find a replacement about 12 years ago, but still haven't procured a turntable to play it on...
I first heard this on WKSU Monday Night Blues with Fitz. I used to record those shows, but glad I found it here rather than going thru all those tapes! Thank you!
Hi Mr. Dudek. I met you when I was a kid at Fresno State college during a concert. You shared a beer with me after your concert and I got to take a picture with you but I never found the photographer. You were a nice man to this Mexican kid, appreciate your kindness. Hope you’re doing well.
