Love that leads to tue sacrifice of man's life because of struggling even to sleep with a beautiful woman for a single day. Aman is of the hope that his heart will go singing happilly in the spiritual world. Amazing love
I have enjoyed your style of storytelling this is wonderful you have gained a follower I wish to read your work if you have anything written. You have made my day
I just finish this book and I enjoyed it too. What was your best part and why ? And in the book from the westerners perspective they said that the whole country of Sierra Leone has PTSD what do you think about that ?
Thank you Madam Kambai for the review of Elechi Amadi's book '' The Concubine"". ; I read the book in the late 1970s when I was in secondary school. It was one of the most interesting books I read.
That was a great synopsis Maggie! Also, great job on the pronunciation of all the names. I also wanted a happier ending for Ekwueme and my fictional namesake but I guess it would defeat the purpose of the book title😢. Elechi Amadi’s depiction of pre-colonial Igbo culture was excellent!
Hello. I think what stood out for me is how we sometimes get degrees and come out out from higher institutions without financial education and dangers of debt more specifically. In addition, how desperate situations can change one's character which means before we judge the homeless, we must think thrice about that. People's decisions are largely determined by situational factors more than the power of logic and reason
I finished this a few weeks ago and love your review I'm still sitting with it trying to decide how I feel about it... Its such a complex book and yeeaahhh!! A fellow zambian booktuber 🎊🎉🥳💙
I can say that was my first big novel to read, together with Ngugi wa Thiong'o's The River Between. As a result, I got addicted to The Concubine and I must have read it about 1,000 times in total. A truly tragic love story.
Hi Maggie. Being Nigerian and Igbo myself, I'd say I really enjoyed your review and in as much as modernization has come to stay, not really much has changed, rather our culture has evolved with it but this issue of spiritual husband is not a small issue and sometimes, truth is stranger than fiction. You tried with the pronunciation of the Igbo names. I cried so much when I read this book years back and I've come to attach tragedy to Elechi Amadi's work because I did read and review "The Slave" here on RU-vid and it was another sad story. You should read it also 🤗
