Helping elementary teachers beat the Sunday Scaries with classroom management techniques, classroom decor hacks and simple ways to stay organized and make learning fun!
I’m Heather LaLonde. 👋🏼
After 8 years in the classroom in 2 different states, I’ve learned that the best way to get better as a teacher is to learn from others!
I’m here to share my knowledge and videos on: - classroom management - organizational tips - DIY classroom decor - and all the additional hats teachers wear
If you need me, you can find me at Heather@TeachingWithCoffeeAndMascara

This has helped me save soooo much money! Not to mention that you teach and explain in an understandable way! I've also had fun in creating my own labels! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
This was awesome. I'm a special education teacher and I am constantly struggling to find the appropriate words to use in emails that sound professional and relay a message that is clear. I usually save my emails and then search for similar email message which takes times. Thank you so much for sharing. I love it! I'm setting up my templates now so I'll be ready in September.
Could you please do a video on how to make a newsletter on Google Doc or as a pdf? And can it be included to our school website either are FACTS or teacher email and/or Google Classroom? Thank you.Alicia from CT

I’ll need to do videos about these two things! As a room mom myself, I think just a card of appreciation. I never expect a gift. I used to do one with the kids fingerprints turned into reindeer or balloons. For student gifts I did a little memory book.
Hello, for some reason when I am prometed to the print screen it shows the "poster" option grayed out, it is not available for me even though I followed all the steps, do you have and suggestion or any idea of what the issue may be? thank you in Advance
That will depend on the family. Some families are okay with their child still receiving a gift or participating in holidays at school and some are not. If the family doesn't want their child to celebrate Christmas then I would do a small gift that they use in the classroom, like a new pencil or crayons or no physical gift. You could give your class other gifts like an extra recess or no homework. You could also do a class gift like a new game for indoor recess.
Sound Great!! Any suggestions for teachers who teach 4th and 5th grade? This game is cute but not really for the upper elementary grades. I wouls appreciate any thoughts and suggestions. Thank you. Alicia from CT
I personally believe your students love anything depending on who it's hyped up. I'll try to put together a video for upper elementary teachers. Until then, I have an entire classroom management playlist with many other ideas. You might watch those videos and see if one of those will work for your class.
You can absolutely sent it to a print shop and have a poster made for you. This is just a work around to use your printer at home to make your own poster.
Hello ma’am. I for the hat I got the first part easily, but I’m having a whole lot of trouble with the second part, specifically with the angles and arches for it. If there’s a way you can do that part slower? Because I’m doing the same costume with our office that’s are theme. And if I can get one hat down and can do the rest easy. So if you can help me with that please. Thank you for reading my comment. P.S. The video was very helpful!
Well Heather, Say if you were being disrupted regardless because you see or hear something happening in your classroom that you do not like. Would you rather be disrupted by catching a student in a fight with another student at their table or a student speaking with their friend across the room that they get along with? Battles. Know when to pick them and know when to drop them. - Dwight
I definitely agree Dwight. But surely students can find someone at their table to ask first. Of course, every class and student is different. And sometimes we have to adapt to what's best for our particular classroom and group of students.
Thx! Just subscribed! Looking forward to other ideas. I saw an idea somewhere this summer about doing a flip calendar with a magnetic rod on my whiteboard. Your idea really connects well to what I’m making this week. If I locate the post that inspired me I’ll give that person credit.
Yes! I love the flip calendars. I have some in my TPT store but didn’t make a video on it. It’s created the same way with rectangles. Just be sure to leave space to hole punch the top!
