That's freaking amazing!! Fun fact: my cousin was a Navy fighter pilot and flew with The Blue Angels for 4 years. He's now a pilot for United Airlines.
of all the cool stuff performed in a show this has always looked the most intimidating from a pilot perspective...opposite circles with the other plane and jumpers in the middle...factor in the wind conditions...its a lot of moving parts to visually track in a small space
Where have I been that I’ve never seen this kinda thing in my life? I genuinely didn’t know there even was freestyle flying until about 10 minutes ago I saw a FB post with you in it. This is absolutely wilddddd to watch for the first time 🤯🤯 definitely will be binge watching your channel over the next couple days! 🤘🏼
Rob, I met you at Wings over South TX at NAS Kingsville in 2008 when you had the green airplane! I just want to say thank you for talking to me about your aircraft and not acting like I was imposing. I still have the pictures of that day as I even got to check out the Viper West F16!
Is it possible if when I meet you at an airshow. I can record your aircraft up close? I am hopping to start a virtual Rob Holland team just so people can watch it digitally. I want to 3D model the whole aircraft.
Just saw Rob’s Show at Beyond The Horizon Airshow in Montgomery Al. I have honestly never seen flying like that. His airplane does things that are unbelievable. Actually met him at his Merch Tent after the show. Super nice guy! An honor to meet a legend!
I’m just now getting to the point where I can pick on some figures more precisely. Seeing where you are looking on the vertical rolls is something I haven’t thought of. I also learned that my parallax correction is way way more than it needs to be, I’m easily 5-10° over correcting. Good to know I don’t need as much. Keep posting this kind of content!👍
Can I ask how do you perform accurately 1 and 1/4 roll on the upward vertical line? You have the sky out in front and the horizon out the side but surely that isn’t a good enough view to accurately fly the manoeuvre.
Watched this video about 23 times 12 years ago, 12 years later it’s still the best aerobatics video I’ve seen and Rob Holland is still the best freestyle pilot of all time.
Hi Rob! Good to see you are also using a camera to analyse flights! That Insta 360 Go3 camera is a nice (and light) POV camera. I find it useful to also mount a 360 camera (Insta X3) in the cockpit to give me a "free" POV to look at the points i'm not looking at during flights. Have a good season!
As someone who is just getting started on their aerobatic journey, this was really helpful to see. I'm amazed at the precision you are capable of and it really gives me something to strive for and not make excuses when practicing.
