Guys , this dolly would be a lot better if you just put wheels on it , Im not trying to imposed my logic on you all , I know things are done differently in other countries. Just trying to help .
We actually rigged up an Arri Alexa Mini onto one of those small electric cars you drive around a factory floor, you know like a forklift but without the actual lift, with nothing but grip arms and grip heads and a few magic arms. That was a really fun project and we made it work, even though it looked kinda shittyrigs and frankenrigged... But it did work! Good gripping gear is often overlooked and underrated, but sometimes it's exactly what you need to make a shot work.
That sounds like a pretty cool rig! Way higher payload weight and dollar amount. We have all done a few shittyrig once or twenty times! The results speak for themselves. Thanks for always supporting the channel!
“What you have is what you have and make it work” oh completely true! In spanish we have a saying “el hambre es el mejor maestro” that is something like this “hunger is your teacher”
I love how you guys exposed so that the big window was still barely under clipping. It's the outside, it's supposed to be bright, not everything needs to be at 50% IRE. 😄
Great question, so with a big book light, you get a better wrap compared to a smaller light. Also you can be a further away from the subject. This seems to help avoid glare from glasses. You can always raise the light to help if needed.
@@PDMokry Good call! Sometimes with 8x8 or even 6x6, depending on ceiling height, you don't have much room to stem up. I'm always trying to anticipate that one subject with glasses.... Thanks so much for replying, your channel is awesome!
Thanks for sharing. Learned a few things! ❤ That van ramp is awesome the way your cart glides off. You’ve got some seriously powerful Aputure lights for that tiny room 😅
Your videos are some of the best on RU-vid for lighting breakdown. Also sorry if it's already been mentioned but what diffusion frame are you using? do you have a link?
Thank you for this!!! I have a godox TL120 and it comes with a tube clamp, but like you showed it comes loose easy because it only has 1 point of contact and has no arri pins like yours. I saw the KUPO tube clamp similar to what u created. but I read that it was to tight, and they were scared of damaging their lights. So wanted to get your opinion if that is something you’re worried about? And what are those tube clamps called that you attached to the monitor mount on that first set up? Thanks again this video was super helpful!!
Mad respect to you and the team for bringing all of this together. I am amazed at how little output of some lights adds to the character of the shoot when combined. I’m a lighting novice, but enjoy your videos so much. Thanks.
Thanks so much, it is always great teaming up with talented crew. This is the real lesson, just because you have the output, it does not mean it needs to be used at 100%.
Do you have the barn doors for the fresnel? I got it in my shopping cart after having to deal with the spill in a similar setup. Thanks for sharing, great video mate!👍
Love the vid. The past two sets I’ve gaffed on, I’ve had problems with the Sidus app disconnecting to the fixtures. So annoying b/c on the app, it lets me adjust sliders but nothing happens on the light. I’ve recently invested in some Nanlite gear, and think that for price to performance, it’s better than aputure.
Having a person like Austin is key for time saving and stress reduction. Someone who knows the gear, how to set it up and anticipate problems is so valuable.
I think it looks good overall. I think if I was DPing, I would have shot into the L of the room to give more depth. And I doubt this was possible but the back wall was almost the same color as the little girls skin… would have been nice to separate that. Maybe having the background with a different ratio would have worked or adding blinds slash. But over all a good setup. Love seeing this content!
The direction was already set when I got to set. So unsure who and when the choice was made. I love shooting into corners too. The color is a great point! Thanks for the feedback!
I definitely love the fact that you get so detailed with lighting to make a simple clean look! And thanks so much for sharing your knowledge it is soooo helpful to people!
