I want to provide real owner reviews from used performance cars. What’s it like owning a 15 year old, 100k miles sports car in 2024? This channel tells you, providing updates on the highs and lows of running multiple sports cars.
This channel will also include videos from great road trips that I do and some DIY maintenance that I need to do to keep the costs manageable. I aim to provide weekly video updates most Fridays at 1pm.

Love the X150s - i have a 2010 XKR, much prefer the shape to the X100 which even with care and attention seem to rust like crazy. Almost pulled the trigger on a 2006 XK a few weeks back but missed it (even with wifes blessing) due to dilberating - b*gger.
Lot of car for the cash, but given the prices, theres not a lot in it to the XKR, especially when tax is same and insurance will be not far apart. I won't comment on the...modifications that adorn the once good looking GT but none the less a superb car to own.
I've always loved and wanted the previous model, but as the best GT for the money, there is tough competition as the Bentley Continental GT is now similar in price.
@FastandFun And of course, no one should buy a Bentley for £12k without expecting to spend at least £5k on essential repairs. Whereas, an XK/XKR is more likely to have been loved by an owner who is interested in motoring.
You said it is not a battery charger...then you said the first stages is to charge the battery....ctek Is a battery charger and trikle charge at the same time!
@@user-ok1gc7dx1g the CTEK isn’t a battery charger. If it was you couldn’t leave it connected for long periods. It’s a “battery tenderer” that can trickle charge and monitor and be left connected for long periods.
It is super important to wash the car before claying the paint. If you go and clay a non freshly washed car it will load the clay quickly and induce more damage... Also spray the panel down and your clay... you want to maximize the lubrication. If you want you can use many polymer based rinceless washes to make your own clay lube for a fraction of the price of rapid detailer. Clay bars are a mild abrasive so it will get down to the clear coat. However one may want to use a good compound to take out deeper paint blemishes before polishing. It doesn't make sense to use super resin polish before it's a silicone based polish and WAX which means you gave yourself more work because you must remove the protection and silicone before coating... He is right the prep solution is just enough for 1 car. However 100 mL of the ceramic coating is tons for 3-4 cars. This is not a glass like coating it's always very soft and missed highspots can be buffed down even days later. It's a liquid inorganic polysiloxane resin. It's chemical resistant and hardness is way less than hard Sio2 coatings.
@@TimLemonn agreed, the 182, born out of the early 172 and very much a car designed during the 90’s, feels and drives much like a 90’s hot hatch. Agreed that the 197 (and 200) was a decade later and although only 2 years apart, it’s due to a late and early model of each generation that makes them so close in years.

@@mad-dog-milo4173 I have a group insurance policy for all 6 cars with LG. The RR is double any of my other cars (including the R8!) but it’s still only c£440 pa (and that includes business mileage).
all this crap is designed to make things worse and it does ....a engine needs to breath suck and blow freely..this is like suffocation ...creates more problems
Great review! I own a gt silver ‘18 CGTS. Can’t get enough of this car. I’m a turbo guy, so this gts definitely suits my style. To be able to add a simple tune, and push 450hp with torque to match is perfect. Sound wise, 💯 the f6 is where it’s at. But the F4T has that mean low growl under WOT as well. Like you , this most likely is my forever car as well. This things with either f4 or f6 are simply amazing cars. Enjoy!👌
Totally agree, whether it’s 4, 6, NA or turboed - they’re all damn fine machines and just superb cars to drive and enjoy. Wishing you many happy miles in yours 👍🏻

Out of a 2014 981s (PDK) into a 718 GTS (Manual) here in Australia. Have had the GTS for 6 weeks. Colour - Metallic Black, Michelins, Aluminium Extended Interior, Guards Red Seat Belts, and Gauges (inc Sports Chrono). Sports Fuel Cap (as Yours) and GTS 4.0 in Guards Red on Doors. PDK is a fantastic gearbox BUT don't kid yourself the 6sp Manual on a winding country road is what makes it 10/10. My forever car and your logic on the PDK here is sound!
In a ‘perfect world’ with infinite money and infinite garage space I’d have a 718 GT4 club sport with PDK, and 981GTS manual (for the noise!)…. But sadly I could only have 1 car that I want to keep ‘forever’, so the 718GTS4.0 with PDK was it….(but maybe one day I’ll also pick up a 986 Bx 550 spyder anniversary edition with a short-shift manual 😉 🤞🤞🤞)
EGR system not only reduces NOx but it keeps engine cooler and thus ready to respond optimally when driver throttles. When full power is used, the ESG is closed. You have to learn basic functions and then come here and post video lectures mate. By the way your engine has serious issues you have to solve first after watching this carbon build up. EGS is not your problem!
Yep technically the Cayster RS are the true ‘last’ NA 982 cars, but for my budget and needs (ie not a deafening ride in the GT4RS and not a ‘tent’ as a roof on the Spyder RS) the 718GTS4.0 was the ‘last’ opportunity to buy a new ICE Cayman before they go all EV…
What a beautiful spec. I love the color with the contrast of the wheels. I own a GTS 2.5…. And I agree with the gearbox. Mine is PDK, and although I LOVE manual and nearly every other car, I feel like going manual neuters the performance personally.
Cheers. I’d even argue that the 2.5 GTS has ‘more’ noise than the 4.0 with its GPFs. And yep, I’m a total convert to PDK on these modern engined cars - a perfect combo in my opinion 👍🏻
So the inert gas cools the cylinder and this engine is fueled for this cooling gas. You can distroy the engine and cause high emissions and both MOT and insurance are no longer valid
@@Ben-y5l4s the 182 video is coming don’t worry. It’s been sat all year covered in dust, but dry stored so should be okay. Need a new battery first then get it started. Video of me getting it back on the road will be coming this Autumn 👍🏻
Oh boy... I've been experiencing this issue for the past day. Ever since my exhaust had a decently sized backfire (catless tomei titanium exhaust) my abs light has been on. It definitely feels like the diff is locking now as I back out of the driveway or when turn slowly. How did you determine which corner needed a new abs ring? Code scanner?
I honestly don’t know why anyone would spend an extra £20-30k on one of these over a 981 GTS. Add a CarPlay module to a 981 and the superior sounding 981 is so much better value than these
It’s a matter of budget, affordability or choice, I suppose. The 718 4.0 flat six of pure German beef is the last of the naturally aspirated engine from Stuttgart. I get your point as a 981 owner but I admire the refreshed 718 and the 4.0 flat six is the cherry 🍒 on top so it makes sense to some people. It may not be a logical choice but enthusiasm is always not based on rational thinking but passion.
@@MrRoyck10I understand the passion aspect but to me a lot of that is linked to the sound of the car, the 4.0 GTS sound is definitely strangled by EU restrictions and costs even more money to unleash…the 981 has it as standard
Because until the end of this year, you can get a 718 with 0 miles configured exactly as you like. That’s how I got mine. And in almost every way it’s a better car than the 981.
