Hi guys! this Channel is about anything and everything related to my Kingfisher 30 sailboat. From the day I bought her, the refit, sailing or just about anything that I might think I can do aboard! I sailed her from the Algarve to Lisbon where I'm currently refitting her so that I can sail this coming summer. One thing is for sure, a lot of work to be done but I'll be having fun while doing it too! Cheers, Teo
Hi Teo, as newcomers to the Kingfisher community, we are loving your channel, and thank you for all your good work... Ours is a 30s called Penultimate, based in Suffolk in the UK, and we've got all of it to do before she goes back in the water, hopefully next spring. However we have a specific issue to address; swhich I guess you haven't encountered as I see no mention of it; we have some collapse in the structure supporting the mast step. This stems from the rotting of the steel bilateral supports just forward of the bulkhead located in the head & storage locker; we and are trying to figure the best way to approach the repair, so if I can throw out the question to yourself and anyone else in your community of followers, we would appreciate any insights that anyone might have. Thanks again for producing your excellent series covering your own refit, it's really really helpful. Obrigado. Bill
Nice job. I'm curious as to why you chose to position the self tailing arm to point inboard. I'm thinking to add self tailing winches myself and trying to understand the most natural position for that piece.
Thanks David, I positioned them like this so that the sheet when coming off the winch it will fall in the cockpit as much as possible and not on the deck.
EVERY time grinding, USE eye protection.am trying to educate you in long life safety.am highly skilled trades and technical eng; old sailor. please heed my advise.
now you need to work out life jacket and safety lines for all crew and your self/flares/radio /nav/chart/weather electrics etc./ good luck sailor--old77 sailor in Australia.
Return Line: The returning diesel from the injectors will be hot. A Day Tank should be installed with this heat in mind. Insulated, or air cooled, certainly not on top of a hot engine, imho. It should also have a boost pump & huge filter so the yacht can make it into harbor even with extensive algae in the main tank(s) Delivery Captains often carry a 5 gallon day tank, since many delivery boats have sat too long to have good diesel guaranteed. (Assuming a sailboat can sail within range of a harbor) I have a 20 gallon badder tank i use for long runs and can act as a Day Tank, with the return line going to the main tank; which is less range and risks overflowing. Fuel Polishing is never 100%, due to tank baffles. If you tank is 2 times longer than its width, and the height is User Selected, then a 4 gallon day tank example formula is calculated to the Width; W=(2*H)*(W^2), round up.
Manutenção pensada e bem efetuada. Gostava de ter alguma de toda essa vontade e coragem. Qual o valor até agora dispendido só para manutenção e transformações em relação ao preço de aquisição?
FYI you cannot do that kind of work on tidelands or within 200' of the water in the US. At the very least you should put down a tarp to capture the grindings. We all want to take care of our shore. Glad you are getting out on the water though!
Hi, I am sorry I have been busy with other projects and I have published only a few videos on my other channel The Boat Rambler. I do plan to resume the refit early 2024. Happy New Year!
I love this series and the work you've done. Have you had any issues with corrosion between the dissimilar metals on the boom & stanchions? I know that bronze and/or aluminum have some issues with corrosion when kept in direct contact. However, I'm not an expert and please look at this as a basic question and not a criticism. I'm a sucker for any bilge keel boats and yours is shaping up very well.
this america, THE WAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN HERE, AND THE ONLY REASON PEOPLE DON'T ALREADY KNOW THAT, IS BECAUSE WE ARE LOSING THE WAR. sub-saharan warfare is transparent. and sub-sahara, it is, and has been, in perpetuity...it's their evolution, living or dying with their breeding faster than the food grows, it's them, it is what they are. in urban areas, where it is less than transparent, there are still active transparent elements. ancient secular texts simply referred to them as death....and we are seeing it again.
amazing what a coat of anti skid can do for looks i think kiwi is the top anti skid ,those big panels at companion way i would have taped through the centre made smaller panels just a choice preference to make it funky, angles curves chevrons, looks being artistic maybe,, autistic, with the one inch tape
I’m always happy to watch your progress Teo. And, in case you’re wondering about the name of the new grandson. He’s an Oscar. Scary arrival at my daughter’s home by paramedics. No time to get to the hospital. But all good with Mum and 4kg baby.

Looks better than the original on my boat! It's not a cheap material, and I can't find it in Hungarian stores, probably I'll have to order it from abroad. Where did you buy it from? A guy here advised to make a thick layer of topcoat rolled flat, then roll it over with a laminating roller, but I don't think it would be anywhere close to Kiwigrip :)
Thanks for the video Teo. You’re a bit of an inspiration for me mate. Also going on a holiday (of course winter) to restore some sanity for me and partly broken wife. Cheers and I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
