What I do is throw away notebooks that have a lot of nonsense in them, and i try to do this once a week. This gets rid of the stacks I once had and gives me room to buy the notebooks I currently want. You can use this cleaning technique for anything in your life. Its very helpful for decluttering your home or spaces.
📝😀 I love this video! You helped me clarify the various purposes for notebooks that I have too. You have inspired me to crack open a composition notebook and use that low cost type of book for fast flowing thought dump. I like that you call one book a scrapbook, I think that is exactly what that type of content should be called. You also make me really consider a little pocket book, you are so right that at times in the day I wish I had a handy little book to write something down quickly. I always keep a self reflection journal where I really process my dilemmas and deeper thoughts, its serious and private. I love the idea of a little sketch book for practicing a skill, I’d like to learn and practice sketching outside scenes of nature and buildings but I also want to learn and practice new handwriting fonts. Yep this is a winning video! And I love your authentic delivery style 💕
@@CreativelyBria I’m fine, just been busy with work. Hoping to have more time as things are settling down a bit. Yes, Recitatif was so good, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did 🙌
☕ Halfway through a book you've been reading for a year is better than no progress at all! 👍😆😸! Did I understand right that a previously unpublished Margaret Walker book is going to print?!
Yes, it's called Goose Island! Unfortunately, the publish date in the news article says "tentatively January 2025" but since we're covering her in one of my classes, I'll probably remember to check again in October
📓I love this video! I am the same way, I have so many notebooks. I like all your suggestions.📔Thank you for sharing all your ideas, it's great to see what you do. 💜💙
Thanks for making this video! I'm currently going into my senior year of high school, and I'm considering long-term career paths; one of which is academia in the area of anthropology/archeology. This was helpful in terms of seeing what my life might be like in grad school.
I had a similar experience with my undergrad. At the start, I thought I'd be writing my thesis about one of two ideas, but by the end I'd discovered a whole other thing that I hadn't known existed before, and I really enjoyed doing a deep-dive into it. Congrats on finding your niche!
Estoy estudiando español a este momento tan es graciosa yo veo tu vídeo ahora por que yo recuerdo tu vídeos en estudiando la misma, jajaja. No soy bueno tan yo esperanza esa tú puedes entender qué estoy deciendo lol. I think it’s really impressive work that you’re doing and you should feel very proud of yourself and it’s been very interesting to see your channel change over time. Do you have any recommendations for black feminists to read? I’m just getting into philosophy (100 pages into the Republic by Plato) and I’m excited to start reading more critical thought; and black political thought is something that’s incredibly interesting which I’d like to be read in.
Thank you for this lovely comment!! I'm linking Jouelzy's Book Club List and video discussions she's done on these books. That is where I got started in 2019 or so, and a couple of these books we also read in grad school as well bookshop.org/lists/exploration-track-archive and www.youtube.com/@SBGBookClub
honestly if I did it again I'd watch her interviews with the authors of the texts first then read the books, I feel like doing that in school actually helped me understand things better!!
Keep it up with the hands-on artistry and the writing 👍 Did you get up to Harlem? It is still a center of black culture although hipster and yuppy influences are also present now. The Schomberg center up there holds a wealth of information about black history. My Italian grandmother was born up there in 1900. East Harlem has multiple Hispanic cultural influences and I still go to my grandmother's Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on 116th St. 👍
your summer looks so fun [& it's not even over yet!] 🙂 i'm glad you've been getting back to hobbies // creative stuff + traveling more. you're doing a lot and it's encouraging to see you balance everything [even if it's not always easy]. cheering you on in the rest of your summer adventures and endeavors 🎊
By the way love those old black and white composition books but because of their color they are seasonal for Fall and Winter LOL 😸😆 They have the same kind in green for Spring-Summer 👍That Women of the Harlem Renaissance looks great 👍 Dunbar is a good example of the question of when do you stop calling someone a great writer when he is also a creep? 😆😸 I say let the writing be. If the writer is a louse, then tell everyone they are a louse, but let the writing be.
I actually just found a mostly unused bright neon pink composition notebook, so I can continue with my favorite journaling paper without buying another one. The question you ask about Dunbar is a great one! I could write so so so much about this because I think about it all the time. But usually they are always both a great writer and a creep, and we should totally talk about why and how it's possible to be both. The optimist in me thinks that'll help people learn how to do (and become) better.
@@CreativelyBria A pink neon one wow 😆😸 it must be impossible to lose! Dostoyevsky is probably a good example of a writer who was both a great sinner (gambling addiction, etc.) and who reformed himself, since most of them did not reform themselves! I guess their great writing comes from their good potential, even if they do not personally live up to that potential!
There you are 👍 glad to see you again, You Tube kept me subscribed after the new channel name but did not feature you in my "feed!" 😡😾 That's fine though will enjoy all the catching up 👍😃😺
Loved this! I'm a writer too, and I like the idea of handwriting stories in notebooks. However, I'm not sure if my hand will let me anymore! Since I'm getting older, my hand cramps much faster now than it used to. But I get so distracted when I'm on a computer that I am considering it again. Maybe I just need to find the right pen that won't cramp my hand as badly! lol I also love the idea of scrapbooking/junk journaling. I haven't really gotten into doing it fully, but I do sometimes stick things in my journals like movie tickets, fortunes from fortune cookies, candy wrappers with sayings on them, things like that. I also use lots of stickers and washi tape in my journals and planners. I don't draw, but maybe I can start doodling at least! Thanks for the ideas! I subbed, so I'm going to go watch more of your videos now. 😁📔📓
Thank you for watching/subscribing!! Do fountain pens help you? It extends the time I can write by hand (but I do still eventually feel fatigue maybe because I'm not used to them yet?). And doodles are so fun!!!! I love hearing about scrapbooking/junk journaling so it's awesome to hear how you do it.
@@CreativelyBria I've never used fountain pens. I've always thought they were too expensive, which is kind of silly considering how much I spend on other kinds of stationery lol. I have been thinking about looking into them, though. Maybe I can find an affordable one and try them out! Thanks for the suggestion! 😊
Bryant park is a lit place to do art. I considered drawing at the library but lord I cant be bothered with that tourist line to get in and to get OUT. The park is a much better idea and kinokuniya if it's ever space in the cafe.
@@CreativelyBria Its really nice in there and aesthetic, just gotta go early or be ok with the.. line to get in and out. Its like getting into the met. And there's only one doorway. It's kinda worth it I'd say try it out, but it is... annoying at first. :'>
thank you - I’m learning!! but I really want to combine writing and drawing skills for my book length projects moving forward/as I start a new era. so I’ll definitely be making more of this for accountability lol.
📓 Lots of great ideas! I've got a small pile of notebooks and I'm excited to try out the different possibilities. Catch-all, book ideas, commonplace, scrapbook, travel memories... 😊
omg not the audio story not saving! still impressed with how calm you were lol. & congratulations on finishing your first year of grad school. wishing you a summer of relaxation and joy 🎊
I've been going back and forth on getting a monitor for my schoolwork as a supplement to my laptop. Do you like it for work as well as your laptop? May I ask the general price range of it?
I honestly rarely use my laptop on its own, unless I'm working outside of the house. For my jobs over the years we've always had a monitor in office or remote so I'm used to it and prefer it (and so does my upper back). This monitor I have now was sent to me by my last job and I didn't have to send it back. I would have for sure bought another monitor though. It's a Dell, but I don't know the price, but I'm seeing some between 70 & 100 online. I'm not sure the price of other brands, but honestly even a cheaper one would still be good if you were looking for relief on your upper back or just to have a bigger screen (those are my two biggest reasons).
Working on a final paper and you're keeping me company :)) Stellar vibes as always. CONGRATS on finishing your first year so strongly!!! I bet you're so relieved
