Excellent video. One scam that I experienced first hand dealt with the drink vendors on the boardwalk. If they attempt to run your debit/credit card and it doesn’t work, do not allow them to repeatedly do so. I made the mistake of doing it. One vendor stated that it was something wrong with the internet and used another vendor’s handheld machine. It was a gringo move on my part because they attempted to charge me over $500 USD. Luckily my bank didn’t allow the transaction to post and immediately cancelled the card. I’d suggest connecting with boots on the ground who can show you what vendor to deal with. If you do decide to use a vendor, ask what the price is and watch them type into the machine. It was my first trip to Rio and they caught me being a gringo. Use common sense and you’ll be fine. Remember that they can see a gringo coming and will use that to their advantage. I don’t blame them because they are hustling to make ends meet. Enjoy Rio and remember that it’s similar to any big city in the states. Rio is amazing and so are the majority of the people
