I have a 2002 Ranger that is a solid little beater, It leaks and squeaks and some areas are held together by gorilla tape but its a strong little machine, 4WD 5 speed V6 3.0, Lots of dirt road miles, Im never letting it go, That's a bad 78 you have there!
i know this is an old video, but thanks for the tip...mine ( 94 Explorer EB 4.0 ) was racing at idle as well at around 2000 rpm's...turned out to be cracks in the folds of the intake tube where it connects to the throttle boy...two massive cracks underneath with one on top...used some flexible silicone to seal up the cracks/holes...next day i hooked it all back up, and it idled normal again...yay...i'm gonna remember your tip though should my IAC ( Idle Air Control ) go out...hope your ride is still running smooth
I wonder if the Idle Air Control Valve could be cleaned/repaired. My XLT 4.0 dies sometimes and is hard to start after. But if I turn it off like normal, it fires right up. 🤔
@Clover_HAXERBOII_Shorts912 I have about five hours into building the stand, punching a hole in the wall for the exhaust, mounting it on the wall, and the wiring. The heater itself came from Amazon.
If ur a-arms are rusty I would put sled on its side and use a ball joint installer instead. The two bolts holding arm on could spin in the metal sleeve and u end up cutting bolt off. Don’t beat on the head of the ball joint if ur trying to save it or install
When it hit 8 degrees the other morning, my 12-valve fired without me thinking. Didn't wait like an idiot, but it started first thing. I was impressed. Coldest it has been the three years I've had it.
aye dog. try 5w-40 for cold weather rather then keepin 15 40. i have an 16 cummins. an at 5° coolant temp i had instant oil. its night an day. hope this will help
@rowdenscarranch9561 I work at a John deere dealership and run their 0w-40 in the winter. Makes a huge difference when it's -25°f with a wind chill of negative it's fucking cold
Yup as long as glow plugs are intact and treated properly waiting until after glow so you don't bust them depending on your diesel , Diesels should never have trouble starting unless the diesel fuel gels
Yes it has grid heaters no glow plugs. Went through them this summer and replaced the wiring to them also made sure the deal heater in the fuel filter housing was working. I also run some fuel additive when it gets this cold. Haven’t ever had a problem starting just like to plug it into keep the oil from getting thick. Thanks for the comment.
No glow plugs, pre heaters on dodge. May run heaters for up to 2 minutes. U got an exstension cord dont ya, most cummins only carry 15lbs of oil pressure at idle. Just so ya know.
Nice. My previous car was 2010 accord. It had its problems but i liked it. Except i think the power steering pump was making my pedal vibrate. Just a guess. Because turning one way eliminate the problem and the other made it worse. The cars gone now.
