Crikey! Haven't seen this since I suffered the onslaught from the Dunloy forwards as a bamboozled number 5 on the Sarsfield's side - May 1984, Dunloy 3-3, Sarsfield's 0-2. Dunloy went to the Feile na Og in Wexford I recall.
@@dunloygac6545 The Sunday before we beat St Gall's in the South Antrim final and we trained on the Tuesday. Our mentor Sean McKearney told us after training that "this Dunloy team are beatable, lads, but their goalkeeper's a bit special!"
And, of course, Shane proved his credentials in the Antrim goal for years. He was though on the end of the greatest piece of individual skill I (and many) ever witnessed in Croke, when John Troy, with the subtle flick of a wrist, scored a wonder goal against the Saffrons in the quarter final in 1999 - and left our goalkeeper and two backs scratching their heads. Remember thinking that that piece of skill was the distinct difference between the sides. A split second of genius that cannot be taught - just pure instinct. But, one day ... one day ..
