I've regrown an area former home owners killed to build on and didn't by pulling up a few of the rhizomes and throwing them into the sand. Neighborhood cats did the rest.
Hate to tell you, that is the only grass my father planted for over 50 years. You level, toss the seed and then take a heavy roller over the entire yard. Had to help him too many times.
My dad always work his old golf shoes to do the same thing. He did a lot of things that we thought was weird. But he had the best lawn in the neighborhood and the neighbors used to try to copy what he'd do when he did it without being seen by my dad. 😅
My whole backyard has deep cracks I used to have grass now it’s all dry with deep cracks all over. Didn’t have to mow the lawn at all this summer No grass! Kinda scary tho I feel as though the ground is gonna eat my up. 😨

Here’s my advice , 3-5m deep hole , research Terra preta , layering of soil , and add 50% biochar , pottery , compost, keep the top mulched, and add some natural soil aerators
“Not a pinecone” Yea it’s my pet omori I just feed them leaves to fill the whole terrarium bc they are literal vacuums and take them off the bushes so they are safe but also your shrubbery
This is what weeds are for: They will break up the compaction, mine minerals from beneath, and make nutrients available for soil life and other plants, but modern people too domesticated to realise.
I am getting ready to put grass down on my newly scraped backyard, which is nothing but packed red Ga. clay. You can’t even dig a hole with a pickax -how many inches of good top soil do I have to put on top to grow some really good emerald green zoysia? Please help me out. It’s getting time to do it.
You really didn't need that tool to figure that out. The soil can be fixed with some compost further suplemented with some leaves and worms mixed in before sowing grass or laying new mats.
