How ironic that I found this through the internet - the thing thats robbing kids today of these memories. Brilliant and completely relatable lyrics. Also, just a great song. Hawksley is badasss.
I remember first hearing this from Hawkley’s live performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Must’ve been 2000 or 2001. I think it was available on his website at the time. Anyway, just wanted to say that this performance brings me back to that time with you and Mr. Lonely. You still sound the same. Wonderful❤
❤the hat!! 😊 The shirt is pretty darn cool too!! Sadly I'm going to miss seeing you at The Neat! Because...you are SOLD OUT!! Awesome for you! poopy for me 💩😊😊
Hey Hawk, I'm probably one of your biggest fans. Seriously. I even rock out your Christmas Album during the holidays. Love September lily, We'll make time, Chocolate mouth, Prettier Face, Ice age, A Moth is not a Butterfly etc.... but this isn't Beautiful or Natural (Another of my favorites.) I know you don't have the prettiest of voices but I like that. Please don't auto tune or echo or whatever this is, and also your voice isn't bad. It's just easy to tell that you think its bad. and that's not a bad thing either. Very relatable.
Long time Hawk fan, and an 80s kid from northern Alberta. This song slams. It hits for me AND I sent it to my newfoundland parents who also Get It. Beautiful nostalgia.
My sweet Brucie passed over to the Next Place last week. He had the fightingest and most loving spirit until the very end. My heart is absolutely shattered, but this song and video are bringing me so much comfort. Thank you, Hawksley <3
Hawksley Workman's work is like the soundtrack to my life! I'll never forget the first time I saw the music video for "Jealous of Your Cigarette" on MTV. I can link every album to a time in my life. I think Hawksley is one of Canada's best but underrated producers/singer/song writers and authors. <3
I remember seeing you at Sheffield Barfly in November 2001. I was only 16, you were on the same bill as a mates band, I had never heard of you. Clearly remember this and Safe and Sound and being absolutely mesmerised by the performance. Ordered For Him And The Girls the next week and listened to it on repeat for months and then Delicious Wolves came out. Saw you at the Night & Day in Manchester summer 2002 and then went down to London in November 2003 at Camden Barfly to see you again. It's more than 20 years ago now but I still mention those as some of my favourite ever gigs and still listen to you every once in a while, especially those first three albums. Just brilliant. Great to see these live performances.
i'm so ashamed when you make me cry for the 10 zillionth kitty cat welcomed and beloved, when there is so much people in pain everywhere - for no good reasons but greed and impunity... But thanks, i'll use that heart-softening power of yours to be a better person towards pets (too easy) and people (too important). Sane and creative 2004 🌠🇧🇫🕊️
