There could be a couple of reasons why Capitano is "running out of time". First, he knows that Natlan is at the end of its rope. He may want to save Natlan from being swallowed up by the Abyss, as the Fatui are NOT enemies of mankind, but rather the abyss/divine. Getting normal civilians killed does not allign with their goals. This is assuming he is NOT from Natlan originally. Second, he might've borrowed an Ancient Name from either the Night Kingdom directly, or from the Masters of the Night-Wind. We see in-game that Ancient Names can be carved into slabs of obsidian and communicated with, so maybe you can go a step further and resonate/borrow power from it? Third, as you said he might be a hero from Natlan 500 years ago, or at the very least someone who lived at the time of her previous reign, and doesn't agree with her methods and has a better plan for Natlan himself. This is assuming he is from Natlan.

5:16 I really hope he isn't Tenoch, however... That seems very likely to me. With the way he touched Mavuika with fists, which looked almost like a reference to when Capitano did the same in his fight. And also, Tenoch mentions the "debt", a thing that is often associated with the Fatui.
@SocknGamers
@SocknGamers 6 дней назад
I am still of the opinion that Capitano is either the Reincarnation of or an anthropramophized Nibelung. We can see murals in the Night Kingdom and in a few ruins of the dragon king turned black & purple, attempting to destroy the leylines. We also know that the Dragon King housed himself within the borders of what we know today as Natlan. His draconic elements on his coat, gloves and waistcoat are absolutely not accidental. Furthermore, Dainsleif's purple highlights on his outfit use the same Hexcode as Capitano's purple highlights, implying abyssal influence, which we know Nibelung used to attempt to fight celestia. Lastly, Capitano's constellation is the three nails, a christian symbol for a very specific ressurected figure (lol). But furthermore, Celestia laid down multiple divine nails after the battle with NIbelung in order to heal Teyvat. Perhaps those specific three nails are what Capitano's constellation are alluding to? In this case, I theorize that the Cryo we saw Capitano use was actually a delusion, due to his inability to call forth his abyssal powers within the meters-distance from the Primal fire. The same primal fire that is responsible for quelling the abyss and keeping it out of Natlan.

I am hoping captiano transforms later in the story, if all harbingers we know have it it’s safe to assume he has it. So according the daily live streams, pengbo the lead voice director of Genshin stated he won’t reveal captiano’s true element, but he said he will reveal capitano’s powers are purple lined, while mavuika is red lined. So captiano’s element in his with mavuika is extremely likely not his true element, I am guessing it’s abyss related, him being electro makes no sense, so probably abyss or something outside the normal 7 elements. What if capitano is suffering from abyssal corrosion ? I doubt he’s a human, he casually walked in and fought the pyro archon.

The name stuff is teased a few times but it feels like that's all it is; a tease. In particular all 4.8 tells us is that the name relationship works for creatures in Simulanka, not in Teyvat. We're not told that you can change the fate of a Teyvat person by making sure the fate of their doppelganger in Simulanka is a good fate. Simulanka is the copy - the reflection in a mirror or a pool of water Mona says. Kapatcir mentions names being used to magically influence people, but also says she doesn't worry about such things as she is too powerful. And of course Neuvillette says that for some powerful creatures their constellation is simply their own name, which may suggest they are somewhat immune to the effect of the fate machine guiding or predicting their future through the fake sky. But even for sovereigns and Archons this seems like a limited immunity (and it may be that it's the equivalent of having the power to utilize the Irminsul). And sure, there's the weird stuff about the Traveler and Sibling hiding their names. And name changes from samsara shifts and the preservation of accounts with a name change through samsara shifts (the way Nahida explains what an allegory is features changing names) and I guess the weird thing about spelling Istaroth's name backwards in BS&M. On the other hand the Twins don't really try to hide their real names. Sibling says Dainsleif is an enemy and yet they have no issue when the Traveler uses their real name in front of Dainsleif. Neither does anyone else in the game appear to have any issue with revealing their name to people. Kapatcir (again) says they don't have any problem with people giving them names, and they don't remember the name from the last time it happened. Nobody ever tries to do something with someone's name. There's never an issue with people's nick-names being used even when it's ritual use such as Hu Tao's story quest summoning a ghost, or the pet name for the miner's daughter in the chasm. Powerful mages like Alice seem to have no issue giving out their names either. So the naming thing is wildly inconsistent which makes me think it's just a red herring. I'm sure there's other "name" stuff I'm forgetting.

1:06 the idea of memory manipulation is pretty much put in the grave by Bedtime Story. Specifically Caribert says that the completed Loom of Fate (ie the Irminsul analog) cannot do it, which implies neither can Irminsul. Secondly the memory changes that the incomplete Loom can do are described in a way that makes them incompatible with the stuff that happens after an Irminsul samsara shift (we're told that you can't add memories without risking contradicting existing memories and physical reality and so Caribert has to limit his new memories to dusk and have them have no progression of time of day). Naturally these are only the arguments against memory changes that are new in 4.7. 4.8 adds more (we have the big keys that literally turn back time and allow the past to be changed but do not involve editing any memories). And the rest of the game has dozens of examples of evidence against the memory edit theory. The most interesting of which is the Sabzeruz festival where we are also told that memory changes don't work because you can never stop them contradicting existing memories and the physical world (Dehya's argument). In other words you can't fake them well enough to work seamlessly. At the same time we get a huge Easter Egg drop because the 8 chapters titles of the Sabzeruz are the same text as the 8 chapters titles of one of the formats of the Japanese version of "Steins; Gate" an anime about time travel which has a nearly identical system of timey-wimey stuff. it's not identical. I guess Genshin would be a strict subset where no actual time travel happens but the same "alternative reality shift" process takes place.

I mean, I kinda agree with you, but that wasn't my point. 8:47 if "weaving ley lines" means the same as "manipulating memories" then how come the Loom can at no point do both of those things? Clearly they are different things. 9:37 if the Irminsul is like blue prints for the world and operating Irminsul removes data from Irminsul then how can Irminsul produce artifacts that still remember deleted data? 9:45 if the Loom is an Irminsul then how can Irminsul change memories when we're told the completed Loom cannot?
@FunnyLore_
@FunnyLore_ 2 месяца назад
1. Weaving ley lines means manipulating memories by extension, because ley lines store memories in them. So if you imagine for example Irminsul, it decides how the world is shaped and if specific memories are deleted from irminsul and by extension, its roots = ley lines, it can manipulate memories this way. But the loom can no longer implant specific memories into the minds of people... 2. Honestly, Idk how exactly this works :/ 3. Again to the first point
@davidjohnson8273
@davidjohnson8273 2 месяца назад
@@FunnyLore_ That feels like a distinction without a difference. That's like saying oh the gun can't shoot people all I can do is pull the trigger and then the bullet is released and that shoots people, but the gun doesn't. By contrast and to give an example of where this sort of thing isn't just pedantry, if the Loom changes fate (ie the past) then that will naturally lead to memories in the present being different, but this is not counted as "changing memories" by the game (for example in the Sabzeruz discussions or in Bedtime Story thoughts by Traveler) because the memories are created naturally as a result of the new past and that means there's no "tell" - no contradictions between the memories and the present state of the physical world or the person's state of mind. Point is - Caribert says Loom can't change memories, and you seem to be saying actually it can, it's just called making ley lines but the effect is identical. To me that flat out contradicts Caribert. Why would MiHoyo go out of there way to have him lie? Still maybe this was what was running through Ashikai's mind too.

3:40 personally i dont think the silver tree/ cedar necesseraly refers to irminsul, the tree is described to be where remuria was founded but then it becames even more vague if sybilla has implications with irminsul directly then i think nahida/rukkhadevata would've mentionned her, and other silver trees exist such as the frostbearing tree (im also making my own theory here) great analysis overall brother sybilla is such a mysterious character i wanna learn more about her...the way shes describing herself just sounds a seelie to me from the last cycle? what cycle? the root cycles? the ordo knew everything that's crazy
@FunnyLore_
@FunnyLore_ 4 месяца назад
Thank you for the kind words. I'm not saying you're wrong here, but well, I'm actually pretty sure it is Imrinsul, because the "silver-white cedar" is supposed to be "below the abyssal depths, where the source of all waters lies" so I think that means below the Primordial Sea and I don't think any other tree could just be there (The description fits perfectly and that's also the only tree we know grows deep underground). I would also find it very weird if they just rundomly mentioned another silver-white tree that isn't Irminsul. But hey, maybe you're right and it is some different tree. In the end it's all just specualtions. And yeah, it surprised me how little we actually know about Sybilla, she seems very important lore-wise.
@davidjohnson8273
@davidjohnson8273 4 месяца назад
1:30 yeah it says she sacrificed herself and that's pretty normal behaviour, but I can't help noticing the game has a bunch of golden bees flying around still. So are they different golden bees? It seems more likely that Sybilla didn't entirely disappear, if she disappeared at all. The best handle on the age of Irminsul is that when Nahida meets Apep, Apep is rude to her and says she's just a dependent of Celestia. Therefore it seems Apep doesn't think of Irminsul as older than the Primordial One's arrival. As for the ancient city it does give off older than Khaenri'ah vibes to me. It could be just a buried piece of the Ancient Civilization like Enkanomia, or it could be something older like the city that lies under Khaenri'ah which the Schwanenritter crewman dreams about as he undergoes Hilichurlification. I don't like the idea of destructive fate by flooding happening again and again. It happens once with Remuria and then it fails to happen with Fontaine. That's twice. And one of those times failed. I guess there's a partial flood in Northern Liyue which destroys Guili but the civilization just rebuilds further South. So if we're counting that then we have three floods, only one of which ends the civilization it's supposed to destroy. To my mind that is a poor record if this stuff is supposed to be happening a lot. All the various "all dreams into one" plans and schemes fail though. Except arguably the help Traveler gets in defeating Ei from 99 Vision holders, but then again if you need to have a Descender as part of your group mind then ... what's the point? a Descender can do it solo.
@FunnyLore_
@FunnyLore_ 4 месяца назад
Yeah, the way that the small golden bees kept guiding us makes me think that these may be like small fragments of her, kinda reminds me of the thousand winds of Istaroth, and how Venti is supposedly one of them (of course on a much smaller scale). Hmm... I don't know if Celestia necesarilly means the existence of Irminsul in this case, because Celestia could also just represent the Heavenly Principles, but who knows. Yeah, I would be very happy if it was another civilization in style of Enkanomiya, that's still probably my favourite place in Genshin. And I don't remember the line from the crewman you mentioned, interesting. I get your point, but I didn't mean flooding like in the case of Remuria orFontaine, but more like the destruction of nations in general, like the endless samsaras the nations go through (Gurabad, Kheanri'ah, Old Mondstadt, etc., it's very speculative if these were because of the samsara though).

Arlecchino is probably Khaenri'ah connected so her story cannot be in an AQ because the AQ isn't about Khaenri'ah except for the Dainsleif quests. Well even so I doubt it will go into her past much but hopefully at least explain her dual nature (assuming she does have one) in broad strokes. Instead I expect ti to be the story of her retiring from the Fatui or whatever the story of handing over leadership to Lyney or at least testing him for that position. A small scale story about the House of the Hearth.

Really? Huh, to me it looks the same, but I guess you've got a point.
@davidjohnson8273
@davidjohnson8273 4 месяца назад
The web page for the update 4.6 features a little girl along with the three Fatui kids so maybe the little girl is the person Arlecchino is searching for and the "child who doesn't exist" rather than Arlecchino? The one wing that Arlecchino has seems rather odd. The feathered looking one. I don't think the geometric shapes can be considered to be wings. Her art on the 4.6 page for example features red feathers floating around. But feathered wings come in pairs suggesting she lost the other wing somehow. It seems very highly suggestive, but it's possible it's just to look cool and they won't have a story to explain it I suppose. The other question is what are the "two worlds" which presumably are the same to referenced in Perinheri. Since the story is going to be local it might only mean something small like the world of the submerged Remurian seas and the above ground world - certainly the art work colour scheme is divided in two that way. Blue and Red. I'm not sure about the moon appearing behind her being the crimson moon. It's somewhat like the moon in Ei's Euthymia but I doubt that's intentional. maybe. It is certainly unlike the moon in the cutscenes of the last day of Khaenri'ah. It might just be a dark semicircle that looks cool. The moons featured in the game have recognizable mares and craters. They are not featureless blobs like the semi circle behind Arlecchino in her boss fight animation.
@FunnyLore_
@FunnyLore_ 4 месяца назад
Yeah, I also saw the event page just now and it looks like the missing person will be that little girl. And I agree that the two worlds are probably related to Perinheri, that would make a lot of sense. And I actually think that the thing behind her resembling a crimson moon is very intentional as there are a bunch of crimson moon references in Genshin and the one behind Ei is just one of them. I think the thing behind Arlecchino is also one becuase she already seems to be heavily connected to Kheanri'ah in one way or another (even though it may not be direct reference and it may actually be something close to Childe's connection to Narwhal, but who knows) and many of her voice lines revealed in the lievstream talked about moons, just like her titles.
@davidjohnson8273
@davidjohnson8273 5 месяцев назад
Before Sun and Moon is a part of The Byakuyakoku Collection, which also includes several other books which might make the list, or a slightly longer list. There's two or three "books" that don't show up as books as such. René's note book from exploring in Sumeru, the book left by the Sibling about the Aranara, and René's book that allows you to enter the dreamscape in Fontaine. It's a pretty subjective list even if importance is interpreted as "important to the lore". Does that mean the most times the book is referenced? or the most important pieces of information? Your list contains 4 works of fiction (and you mention another two that were close to top 5) which I wouldn't include since we don't know if any of them have any information that's true. I'd rather have works of non-fiction such as the History of Remuria or the Folio of Foliage as well as the non-fiction works mentioned above.
@FunnyLore_
@FunnyLore_ 5 месяцев назад
Good points, thanks for them. I didn't pick Rene's notes, because I didn't reallly count them among books, but I suppose i could have mentioned them. And yeah it is a pretty subjective list, I basically judged it by how often I see these books referenced and such (which is also why i used some works of fiction, even though it's really uncertain if it's fiction or not). Because I decided to make a video about this in the first place when I saw that many of these books are sometimes still unknown, even in the lore community. Anyway, yeah, you raise a good point in terms of History of Remuria and Folio of Foliage, I definitely could have atleast included them (maybe I'll make a part two, where I'll focus on books like these).

The last two books are in game light novels written by Chang the ninth. There is no point in looking for lore in them when they have absolutely nothing to do with the story.

I personally don't agree, but I see why you would think that.

Update: I don't think I explained it well enough in the video, so I'll just add it here. I actually believe that there is a high chance that Arlecchino is from the Khaenri'an orphanage mentioned in Perinheri. This would also explain how Pierro could have recruited her to the Fatui (since he was a Kheanrian royal mage according to Wanderer), and all of her eye symbolism and stuff.

In reference to the "theory" that successive harbinger boss fights appear to track from the bottom of the wheel up the right hand side I would say this is a simply a consequence of the larger theory that the harbingers are listed within the wheel in ascending numeric order as you go down the wheel. You start at harbinger 1 at the top row on the right and then harbinger 2 on the top row left, then second row on the right is harbinger 3 etc etc. until you get to the bottom of the diagram which is the lowest ranked harbinger 11. This is pretty obvious but for whatever reason people got it in their head from years ago that there's no pattern to how the harbingers are arranged on the wheel when in reality it's about as obvious as it gets. There's one issue confusing it however and that is there is no harbinger 10, so from Scaramouche downwards we have harbinger 6 on the right, next harbinger 7 on the left then harbinger 8 below harbinger 6, then harbinger 9 below harbinger 7 on the left, and finally (skipping the absent harbinger 10) harbinger 11 at the bottom of the wheel. Naturally subtracting harbinger 10 leaves us one constellation short which is made up not by any sort of harbinger 0, but by an extra harbinger somewhere between 3 and 6. Google "Spoiler-free harbinger wheel thoughts" for an article about 15 months ago. The spoiler free is a reference to the harbinger spoiler that came out 18 months or so ago. You probably already got spoiled on that but just in case I don't reference it. Anyway since then where I felt harbinger 5 was the most likely rank to be doubled up, it now seems like harbinger 4 with her "double identity" as hinted at in various ways in-game, is the most likely to be represented on the wheel twice. Perhaps there's 2 harbinger ranked 4, or perhaps Arlecchino has a two spirits in one body thing going on? Is it twins? clones? lots of ways to do it. On this basis I guess the harbinger wheel goes 1,2,3,4,4,5,6,7,8,9,11 as it goes down the diagram with each row first the one on the right, then the left, then the next lower row on the right, etc. Because this is the way the harbinger wheel is drawn it follows that the boss fights from the bottom and up the right hand side is an easy coincidental pattern. Firstly in any anime where you have to fight a bunch of dudes in a group that are all ranked common sense says you start at the lowest ranked enemy and work up. Lowest ranked means the one at the bottom of the diagram, 11. Then since we obviously don't have time to get to know, let alone boss fight, every harbinger, we seem to be doing more or less every other harbinger as we progress through the Harbingers. Every other exactly would mean taking on all the dudes on one side of the diagram and going up towards the harbinger 1. Well I would guess each boss fight you might say is about a 50-50 chance of being just the next one on the right hand side of the wheel. Having said that, of I am correct about 2 harbinger rank 4s I would guess the boss fight would be with "bad" Arelecchino and not "good" Arlecchino. Without spoilers we don't know which constellation "good" Arlecchino is between the two choices of the hand of glory you suggested in the video and the prior constellation which is the heretic's symbol. I think the theory about boss fights up the right hand side only became a thing after we already had the first 3 fights so it's not much of a prediction. It's about 50-50 likely to be true by luck. Even so I think I'd bet against it. The "good" Arlecchino (the NPC we've met and talked to in-game) seems fire themed and against betrayal themed. To me the Hand of Glory seems fire themed and the heretic's symbol seems at least betrayal adjacent. But you know how that sort of speculation is. We've so far had 3 different "good" matches for the puppet constellation (Scaramouche, Sandrone and Pantalone). They can turn out to be anything. Mostly I think I'll bet on the "boss fights up the right hand side" theory to fail just to be a little different.

I mean, sure. I see your point, but I personally don't really think there being two harbingers with number 4 (even as a double identity) is very likely. Although I could be compeltely wrong, my guess would be that it's more likely that we just don't know something about the harbingers with rankings between 2 and 4, as for example, Dottore could be both the plague doctor's mask and the heresy symbol on the wheel. And the crying face in my opinion doesnt really look like something that would suit Pulcinella who it would have to represent, if your theory was correct (which it absolutely can be, but to me it doesn't really sound likely) and in terms of Pulcinella, so far the only symbol that would suit him in my opinion would be the plague doctor's mask, but Idk. I for example believe in the theory that there could be a harbinger that was a traitor and that's why the wheel displays one more symbol, or it could be just someone we haven't heard of yet or maybe someone deleted from history the same way the sacred sakura was added (by which I mean "not deleted by Irminsul", because it appears as if it was always empty even to the traveler from the beggining), but who knows...

When you're introduced to Dottore and they do the title screen shot with "Dottore - 2nd of the 11 harbingers" they had a little piece of text saying "Omega build". So if not for pulling the rug from under it with Nahida's forcing the destruction of the clones and the fact that there were so many it would flood the harbingers wheel if each Dottore version had a slot.....yeah I could see that. But that also wouldn't explain the doubling of one of the integers. If Dottore had 2 slots that were not consecutive then why would the number be doubled? why would his second clone thing have the same exact rank as another harbinger? The doubling up suggests some sort of close relationship between a pair. Now that could come in many many forms, but there'd have to be some close connection, not just some harbinger paired with a Dottore clone. Right now all the clues are saying Arlecchino is the most likely to have some double nature. Note that the problem is NOT adding an extra constellation to the wheel. That part is easy and could be slapped down anywhere in the sequence, but if that happened the rankings would all be separate integers 1 through 11, or perhaps 1 through 12 with 10 missing. Or zero through eleven with ten missing. The real problem is that the extra constellation has to fit in somewhere between rank 3 and rank 6. And without having someone ranked 4.5 or rank 3 1/2 or rank 5b or something silly the only solution I can think of is doubling up on a rank. It's possible to do with a rogue Dottore element but (ignoring Nahida for now) that rogue Dottore clone would need a reason it was rank 4 same as Arlecchino and not just have the clone be rank 4 and Arlecchino rank 5 and shift everyone down by 1. How would you do that? That Dottore clone would have to have some close relationship with Arlecchino which in some sense makes them the same as Arlecchino, or a clone of Arlecchino, or substitute for Arlecchino. Do you see what I mean? Also can you think of any other way of arranging the numbers than doubling up one of them like the 1,2,3,4,4,5,6,7,8,9,11 example? @@FunnyLore_

@@davidjohnson8273 I see what you mean, but I didn't mention Dottore being the one with 2 symbols before, because I also don't think that's the case. I just meant that he is an example of someone who we don't know for sure which symbol he has. And I agree with the problem you're raising here, but with this we go again to the base assumption that the wheel idneed displays all the harbingers by ranks from top to the bottom and I'm just not sure that is the case. By what I said in my previous comment I meant that maybe one of the numbers was doubled or erased because of possible "missing harbinger", which could explain why it's the way it is. Anyway, I agree with what you said about Dottore, but I still think that Arlecchino being the reason there is one rank doubled isn't likely. So my personal conclusion from all I know is that there are two options - 1) the Fatui wheel doesn't display the harbingers by ranks from top to the bottom, but it's just coincidentaly very close to that (although I admit that would have to be a huge coincidence), or 2) there is indeed some missing Harbinger or rather rank we don't know about, and then I personally would theorize that for some reason one of the ranks between 2-4 is missing for some reason, or is (as you said) doubled. But in my mind it's just really weird that Arlecchino should have double ranks. I can't disaprove it now, but if that ends up being the case, it would be a very weird decision by Hoyo in my opninion.

Honkai Impact 3rd covered the Theory of Forms in the last arc of the first part, even featuring new life forms based on it. Hoyo uses the same concepts in its games. Sometimes they throw a concept to your face, while it's hidden between the lines on other occasions. Other recurring concepts between their games are repeating cycles (Samsara) and dreams.
