Man Vool are so lucky to have you as you are them, you guys make the perfect combo for some sweet sweet music. I've been there since day 1 and still play the shit out of your music daily, I can't wait to see wha comes next. Thank you for what you do. Karnivool has been the sound track to my life.
Mate. You really should invest in some good video and sound recording and you could make decent coin on RU-vid. Wasting your talent playing once every 5 years and releasing an album every 10. Dont know how you pay the bills
Hey Steve, I bet you're a heavy perfectionist, that there are not more DrumCam Vids of You!! But you are one of the best i've ever heard and seen when I think of all th other Karnivool Tracks! What a Talent! Please share more!!! Much more!
Ahaaah I love this groove man. I'm re-digging y'alls whole Sound Awake album from start to finish atm. When I first heard this piece (as a drummer) I was distracted (out on a walk) and was like, 'woah there's some serious intrigue here, let me restart it', and immediately liked the groove... then the first time I started trying to count it was a real 'WTF' moment. Had to come home and dissect the 7/4 | 6/4 oscillations, but it's how you drop the eighths on the pedal-up beats (10 > 12 > 10)... _from bar to bar_ that gives it almost a freestyle feel. Looking forward to learning this one... sick writing and playing! 👍
Hi Steve, are you planning to upload some of the stuff from the last tour? Would be amazing to see some new footages. Really enjoyed the concert in Tilburg. Cheers.
Steve keep making these videos. I don't think I'm alone in saying I'd love to see more content of 'play throughs' of Karnivool songs in a studio setting, an more live drum cam footage. You're Australia's greatest rock drummer, and deserve a much larger online profile.
Steve... What happened to The Refusal Drum Cam Vid? Ive watched the shit out of it, but.... i want to watch it again, and again. If anyone finds it, please, tell it to come home, to me, my warm embrace awaits.
It's on Mark Hosking's channel: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9AfV1pum29I.html I'm super late with the reply, hope it still helps, haha
Hell yeah man! Is there any more decent footage from this gig? I know Hoss uploaded The Refusal on his channel back around the time you performed this set. Seems to have been in a little better quality too... I won't complain though, stoked to have more footage to watch!
Steve keep going with this content. We'd love to see some play-throughs in a studio-type setting. I hope you know you're regarded as one of Australia's best rock drummers. Period.
I fully appreciate the asymmetry album more now then ever. My experience on first listen was “this is different!” Lol “we are” is an incredible song and shows that the band is willing to challenge their listeners. The drums are stellar on this song! Can’t wait for some new vool!
The world needs heaps more Steve Judd drum videos please. You’re the most under the radar, modest, exceptional drummer. The way you compose drum parts is so unique and unmatched, hats off, Australia’s best
I love the rhythmic designs of Karnivool and the fact that in most of their songs they really explore what they can do with them musically instead of throwing in too many unconnected/just roughly connected ideas into one song. Besides, it took me a while to figure out the pulse of this song. Originally I heard it as a 3/4 waltz type of thing, with the quarter notes starting from the second 8th note triplet from the actual feel and the two snare accents as 2 and 3. But after I listened to the unplugged version the 4/4 was so obvious that I had problems hearing it as 3/4 again. I wonder what the songwriting process looked like with this song.
Yeah dude, I've been tripping on the same thing! I've been playing around with hearing it both ways. Each way of hearing it creates a totally different vibe to the first half of the song! The other thing I noticed was how the hand pattern in the 1st section is the same as 3/4 modulated section (that 1 + 2e 3e thing), even though the feel kind of hides that!
