I said elsewhere that this league will need to expand just to fight attrition. So this isn’t an irrelevant video. But if there’s a weakness in the world of football to exploit, it’s the rising costs of playing in high school. The thing that would be different than the NFL is to have a development league; essentially academies. That means there has to be a U-19 league and a U-23 league, because football kind of requires growth to be complete instead of playing teenagers on first teams, unlike most sports. To eventually pay for that, you need a German league and a couple leagues in other countries that aren’t big rugby countries, but have the money. Japan already has a league. Potentially Mexico, believe it or not. See, most countries established laws against things like player drafts. So they’ll want to buy American players. Oh, to be more technical, they’ll buy player contracts. And I know… this is a SERIOUS gamble. No guarantees that the foreign leagues won’t wait for players to be out of contract and then just sign these kids. Otherwise, the league continues with the issues of having to rent stadiums, and NFL stadiums are too big, MLS stadiums aren’t big enough, and college stadiums are often not central to cities.

If they go to Ohio, it needs to be Columbus. Fastest growing city in the Midwest, biggest city in Ohio, 2nd biggest metro (bigger than Cleveland), and football CRAZY. With the league being in the spring they don't have to compete with Ohio State, and if the team signed a couple of former Buckeyes it would be supported majorly.

This video forgets the product. The UFL atrracts good football by putting good players on the field. These guys are either just cut or came up close out of college and see the UFL as a way to display their talents to NFL clubs. NFL scouts have a lot of football to watch and more teams means less likelihood for that to occur, lessening the quality of the product. Bad football means no TV money and no TV money is death.
@PCSPounder
@PCSPounder 24 дня назад
Philosophical question. This comes to mind as CTE is not an issue that has gone away, the population of people approaching college age declines from year to year for the foreseeable future, and other sports gain in participation at the expense of football. If the quality declines at the highest levels, do you still watch? Do you watch because it’s football or because it currently draws a lot of the best athletes? Or another reason? At least my anecdotal evidence is, while a growing number of people dislike football, a quite large number of people still like the sport. They don’t really care if the next generation of kids loses a step, so to speak.

New Orleans would support the UFL, but they have to play at one of the smaller outdoor stadiums to really get a good atmosphere going IMO. Tad Gormley Stadium would be a great, scenic spot to catch a game but would require millions in renovations if not an outright demolish/rebuild. Yulman Stadium is a no brainer but IIRC has strict ordinances on what type of events and how often can be held there.

I think first you should bring back all 18 original USFL teams before bringing in brand new teams, or going in markets where there is already an NFL team. For example, the Breakers were once in Portland. There were teams in Oakland and Oklahoma too in the original USFL.

For me personally, outside of the obvious Seattle Dragons (cut the Sea part out lol) and San Diego being a potential St. Louis of the west coast, I’d want to see an expansion team in Mexico, Canada, and possibly Puerto Rico. I think going international would be a great way to open new markets and revenue streams on tv rights that can take advantage of the work that the NFL has already done while also doing something that even the NFL isn’t doing with an international team.
@Royce-VikingWaxPress
@Royce-VikingWaxPress Месяц назад
I never really thought about international expansion but I love the idea. I think Mexico is a short-in but I would maybe go Brazil instead of Canada since most Canadians are already a fan of CFL teams who would partially be playing during the same time of year. Puerto Rico could be interesting, would there be enough interest?
@phillipmeyer4059
@phillipmeyer4059 2 месяца назад
I think the key to success is more fans at the games and that will only happen if you go to cities that don't have a NFL team. New York has 2 NFL teams plus the Bills a different part of the state, and Nashville has the Titians, plus look how poor the Showboats are doing in Memphis. Houston and Arlington are not really getting that many fans either, because the fanbase is just not hunger enough for football, they already have NFL teams. The only team in a city with an NFL team that is doing well is DC and only because they have a fun atmosphere, stadium, and team also the Redskins/Commanders are not that well loved and on a bad losing streak. The ULF has to be bold and take big risks and that means going to cities that are not as high on the TV ratings but have a better chance of really getting behind a team like St. Louis did. First off I would relocate Memphis to Omaha or Lincoln and rename them the Pioneers. Michigan I would probably move to Milwaukee keeping the name Panthers but changing the colors to black and gold, Also I put Arlington to Oakland and giving them a mostly black uniform. Then I would have 4 more teams, keeping the names Breakers and Dragons, Wildcats and putting them in Honolulu and San Diego, and Salt Lake respectably. For the new 4th team I would go this Boise and name them the Blizzard.
@Royce-VikingWaxPress
@Royce-VikingWaxPress Месяц назад
I like the Boise Blizzard name. I am personally against relocating teams because it shows instability and alienates the fans who were loyal in those markets and those who may not be from those markets but have purchased merch and followed the team (like I did for the Breakers).

@mat.martin666 2 месяца назад
I would move the Renegades out of Arlington first. Move them to Oklahoma City. Still a close market not too far from its original but out of the NFL market. Plus the Renegades emblem resembles the Oklahoma Outlaws.. so it's like bringing them back.. Move the Panthers to Louisville. Kind of fitting with the Kentucky Wildcats.. I would say the Louisville Stallions because of the Derby 🐎.. but you're not relocating the Birmingham Stallions.. it's too iconic. Bring back the L.A. Wildcats but put them in San Diego since they got shafted by the NFL. San Jose instead of Oakland who got shafted and San Francisco is NFL.. but San Jose is the bigger market anyway. What used to be the San Francisco Demons that were originally to be the San Jose Demons.. stay away from the original XFL names which I don't think they are legally allowed to reiterate.. they were called the Demons because of the Diablo Valley and fault line that's in that area.. call them the San Jose Diablos. The old Pittsburgh Maulers can be the Canton Bulldogs. Again.. try to stay out of the NFL markets if you can. The Philadelphia Stars is the exception of the NFL rule. You gotta dip back into the east coast and Philly is a huge sports town.. similar to Chicago. The stars would work although I thought maybe the Canton Stars since Canton is where the Hall of Fame is and that's where all the Stars are.. idk 🤷‍♂️. New Jersey Generals is iconic and since technically New Jersey has 2 NFL teams, they claim the New York market. So branding the New Jersey market is your other East Coast team along with Washington and possibly Philly. Orlando Florida is the 4th city in Florida that doesn't have a pro football team. I thought it was a bad idea to take a team out of Florida since the majority of NFL players that have been drafted are from Florida.. a bit surprising. I agree with the Breakers.. but that team moved alot. First they were the Boston Breakers, then the New Orleans Breakers, then the Portland Breakers.. and then the New Orleans Breakers again.. since Florida got the shaft.. the Orlando Breakers is the answer. I know what I said about staying away from NFL markets.. but since the reason they took away the Sea Dragons is because they were kind of isolated, and now theres a West Coast presence.. they are no longer isolated and you need that Northwest territory.. you COULD stay out of the NFL market and go the Portland route with the Sea Dragons.. but Portland not really on the coast .. but it's close enough.. OR the Sea Dragons can be in San Jose and that frees up an extra city since 16 is what we're doing here.. I was thinking maybe the El Paso Gunslingers or El Paso Wranglers and El Paso is West TX .. it's so far away from San Antonio and the others.. it draws a market close to New Mexico and Arizona and Colorado.. But the last one and I think is important and even tho Chicago is an NFL city.. it like Philly is a huge sports town.. but it's true, it's a Bears 1st city.. Chicago is big enough for another NFL they say.. well, how about a UFL team. Idk if you can use the old XFL 2001 brands or not so the Enforcers is probably out the window. This is one I don't have a name for from the original teams . But with the absence of Michigan and Pittsburgh, needing another team in the North besides Canton is necessary.. especially the biggest market in the Midwest. And with the rivalries between Sт. Louis and Chicago sports teams and the easy travel between the two cities.. it wouldbe an XFL Conference team. Chicago is necessary... Maybe the Chicago Maulers.. 🤷‍♂️idk 🤔. Or the Chicago Guardians.. or the Gamblers.. although I would think if you were bringing back the Gamblers they would be in Vegas.. which is always an option instead of one of the others.. but we don't want to go past 16 teams. 16 is ideal for a Minor League Football League . I think it's very well placed staying out of the NFL and working the secondary markets but tapping into some of the crucial markets that would make the league thrive... Let me know what you think. And I'll post this comment on your Facebook post as well..

There was 2 pro football teams in Sacramento in the past, the Surge (WLAF) and the Gold Miners (CFL). Maybe they can get the rights to either name for the Sacramento team if it happens. Ah, we can dream can't we? For some of those team names, I'd see if I could use some old WFL names/colors like the Jacksonville Sharks or Portland Storm or Shreveport Seamer. The Chicago Fire and New York Stars. The Stars were originally to be the Boston WFL team called the Boston Bulls. Utah can be the old Utah Stars of the ABA. I miss the old USFL Oakland Invaders and LA Express. And the Breakers were 1st in Boston. Anyway, I have no idea if the UFL will be around long enough to actually expand. I hope it finds an audience. Tough when it's basically a developmental league without any big stars. I'm a football fan who'd watch anything. I don't have to be sold. But, less hardcore fans may need name recognition. Columbus is a great choice, Austin is good too but there are already 3 Texas teams. I think there are a few select NFL cities where the UFL could work, similar to the way it has in D.C., namely Chicago, New York/New Jersey, and Atlanta due to their sheer size and economic bandwidth. People in cities that large need a less expensive football option and have enough population to make it work.
