I’m curious about your use of vibrato, is it on purpose that you play some of the longer notes especially the C without vibrato, for example in the beginning? If yes, what is the intention behind it? To create more tension? Good performance!
Hey! I guess it is on purpose, but also kind of instinctive. At the beginning, I think no-vibrato means there is a feeling of more 'drive' in the music, adding to the tension. Also, then theres more contrast with the lyrical, calmer section. Maybe I'd play it differently now. Many options. Music is an art, not a science ;)
Fantastico e nostalgico Have piacevole moments. I love it much Welcome to Indonesia Welcome to Java Welcome to Bali (Rob, are you also interested in new works? Are you performing new pieces?) Thank you
Hey Hello! I am also a saxophonist and I really like how you play and how you intonate and your technique is unique, I really want to learn to play like you, can you give me some advice, I am from Bulgaria and I really want to be a classical saxophonist like you! greetings and thanks!
Hej Sebastián what a beautiful combination. I enjoyed the piece of music very much. Wishing you a nice summer and keep in touch with this Dutch, Mirjam (PS: we met yesterday and talked about art and music...)
Beautiful! Works so well on the soprano sax! I played this (on the oboe) at my first year recital, nowhere near as beautifully as this, but I enjoyed every minute :)
Good piece for the unusual but attractive Trio (Vl, Sx, Pno). The problem, as always, is the balance of the sound. The sax., although fine player, is very loud covering the nice violin line! Don't forget, it is a chamber music.
this is so brilliant! i am going on to study A level Music and am hoping to take my grade 7 sax exam pretty soon. Good i saw this as its great inspiration :)) do keep it up!!
Yea and it sucks for Sax players too because Orchestra is respected more upon musicians unlike Concert Band/Wind Ensemble. Beside Military there are no known Professional Bands
What a fascinating work. I had to look the composer up. You make me want to play saxophone and I thought oboe and pipe organ were most beautiful! Wonderful performance! Your videos are so enjoyable!
thank you so much Tyler! For this I was actually reading from the Oboe part and sight transposing up a tone :) not much help, sorry! Glad you enjoyed it, though
Thanks guys for all the love on this video! It means a lot <3 You can follow me on instagram to keep up-to-date with everything I'm doing instagram.com/robburtonsax/ or @robburtonsax
How beautiful! I like Poulenc’s sonata better on soprano sax than oboe. Its more plaintive and mellow. Reminds me of the Alps in late spring. Thank you for a lovely performance.
@@robburtonsax Oh, I play in an E. Rousseau NC4 (Alto) and have been told by my Professor that 3.5s would work much better for me. Knowing that you use 3.5s will certainly get me to use them. Great playing!
@@rwandanstarbux1494 reed strength is all about finding a balance between tone, resistance, tension, comfort and allowing optimal dynamics, colours, articulation etc. Some people can sound great on 2.5 and others on a 4 - its all very personal. I hope you find that 3.5 works well for you!
