I have many PFluegar spinning reels. I would never buy that PFluegar ice reel because it's like a boat anchor. I have three Piscifun ice reels and have caught hundreds of fish. Just because a handle spins easily can mean there is less lubrication in the bearings, and once it breaks in it will spin smoothly. There is no question the PFluegar ice reel is well made, but I have had zip for issues with my Piscifun ice reels.
Release and reel preforms much different once it’s lined and seated to a rod. My opinion the carbon is much better. Light smooth drop good drag I like it
I watched a different review of the ICX carbon, add he loved the trigger location. It's offset there because of the way a lot of ppl hold the rod while jigging panfish. Not by the rod exactly, but more by the reel itself with the rod handle testing over thumb and the index finger guiding the rod. You palm the reel and use your ring finger to operate the trigger.
I don't see the #3 drag as a problem. You shouldn't be tightening the drag to more than 30-35% of the line test anyhow and if you run #10-12 line then you're there, lol but how many use that # test. I'd be more concerned with amount of line than I am the drag pressure and the Pflue has the chinese crap beat across the board. After watching this I settled on 2 of the Pflue'y over a number of others including those chinese crap within the 1st 5-6min.I'll be adding them to 14' jigging rods for Crappie with #6-8 braid.
The Pflueger looks cool. Does the magnetic brake work with the aluminum spool of the Pflueger President reel? The 13 inline reels have the problem with with plastic or aluminum spools. Thank you!
when it comes to the crank spinning I'd take the pisci over the president. I don't want my reel spinning just because the reel handle is at the top of its turn. Sure it's smooth, but I don't want my reel moving unless I'm telling it to.
LOL pick chinese crap of quality because of something that doesn't matter one bit ice fishing?? If it really bothers you that much all one has to do is get a cheap 2 handle...handle.....what are they $5-20.Hell prob be able to salvage one off some old baitcaster for almost nothing. It is odd they wouldn't have installed a counterweighted handle on it,but then they probably figure it's no big deal in ice fishing too.... It's not like it's going to wind in everything you have out....LOL! just a few inches

BUT the brand names have a name to uphold so they use quality materials and bearings... even on their cheap models and made in China. The cheap offbrands do not and are targeting you noobs that do not know much with their stupid marketing gimmicks like 100 bearings and 1500lb drags...lol Buy cheap offbrands and you'll have problems, need to replace it in short order, or just give up.... Name brands will last you years if not decades. Go back to your mommies basement and play your games....
Good question! I am so used to the trigger more inline with the index finger, but I would like to try your thumb idea. It could be good for jigging with it as you don’t have to withdraw your index finger from the trigger when you reach the target depth. Thank you for bringing it up!
I like what you brought up about the Piscifun Trigger. Hadn’t noticed that and was heavily looking into that being my next inline. Feel like I’d find that frustrating
I used the inline reel with ice rod on my boat for lake white fishing, 3,4 pound drag is a problem that lake white is pretty Powerful in open water. This is why I bought this Piscifun in-line reel and 13 Black Betty with 11 lb drag.
Unscrew the cap all the way off then grab the middle of the spool and lift it off. Tie the line on the spool and spin the line on using whatever you have. I use a Berkey line spooler.
