Totally Rad Reaction was created basically because I love that decade so much. The music, technology, movies, the fashion? (WELLL) some of it, depending I recon. Most importantly the music, for me that is and now that I have gotten much older and the clock doesn't seem to go backwards, I figured I better see what I have been missing out on all these years later. So here we are. I really enjoy watching people react to songs that I love and thought well why don't I do the same and give others the same pleasure, plus I will get to discover all those bands and songs that flew right past me as a kid growing up.
This song has been with me for 40 years and will always be my "favorite" ( if you can truly ) have a favorite Genesis song ) My husband has finally learned that when this song comes on the radio is to go UP and he is to Shut Up 😂❤🎉
Audio wise, this performance is probably better but, i prefer the Knebworth 1992 performance simply because of how Phils personality shined in it. But, either are phenomenal ❤🎉
Oh my, i came across this reaction today and you said you were going thru the entire concert! Instant subscriber ❤🎉 now im gonna go check out the rest! Anything Phil related gets an instant like from me. Thank you for doing this. I wish others would to discover just how phenomenal these guys were 🎉🎉 Ive seen all of Genesis's concerts, and Phils many times. My favorite part of one though is the encore at the Knebworth 1992 concert. He was utterly exhausted, I'm not sure how he was still standing but, you can just feel and see the passion there. If for whatever reason you haven't seen it, please do.. Tonight Tonight Tonight/ InvisibleTouch/ Turn it on Again
Magic happens while of enjoy to doing music with passion , flow and for shure great creation by Knowledge . The chemistry between the entire band was breathtaking that Time .I would rank Mark Knopfler among Unic's top guitarists, there is no way to copy that style. Left hand like Jimi but playing righthand 3-Fingerstyle , singing like Bob Dylan but different . What a treasure of musical creativity was given to us by God's grace at this time. Unique, epic, enchanting, harmonious and full of dreams that needed to be lived. Even Mozart would have enjoyed their way of telling a story with harmonies. It is more than music , it's like a prayer's speech , follow your heart and don't lose the way !
This song has EVERYTHING! Phil's voice. Great guitar riffs. Good bass runs. Strong drums. Incredible energy throughout. (If you can find it, there is a DVD of this concert) LOVE this performance.
3:14 That takeoff into unbridled jazz by the uber-talented trio of drummer Bernard Purdie, bassist Chuck Rainey, and guitarist Denny Dias. Pure ear heroine (if I'm allowed to be a bit overly dramatic, yo). A display of jazz and rock chops the likes of which I've rarely experienced--it's truly an experience way beyond merely listening.
Daryl was playing the Steinberger bass and Moog Taurus pedals at the same time for the bass sound. Genesis has used the Taurus pedals ever since the mid 70s
Don't forget that radio DJs had to have some long songs to play when they had to go potty #2, LOL. Seriously though, I think the only time I heard this other than at my friend's house was on a midnight playthrough of Close to the Edge on the local radio station that had a Saturday night segment where they just played a whole album.
I am 75 and kinda found out that they dont make real music anymore.Wow Glad I lived in uk and came up listening to the greats atrting with cliff richards.haha
This is actually the full version. You are used to the radio edit with takes the instrumental section out. Genesis made yhe radio edit because pop and top-40 radio stations do not like playing songs over 4.5 minutes long. Abacab is another song by Genesis that has a radio edit. Phill is playing Simmons electronic drum oads connected to a EMI SP-12 sanpling drum machine. When you buy the Invisible Touch album this live version is the one you get but recorded at their studio. The very deep bass notes are played Daryl used the Moog Taurus bass pedals. Both Daryl and Mike have them.
Always felt these two songs are the highlight of the album. Great music, but not what radio expected to follow up songs like Africa. The Seventh One feels like a true successor to Toto IV.
What the heck. Apparently a gazillion folks like this. If you haven't got anything nice to say, might as well keep quiet. Songs did stick much after TOTT for me.
"The Dark Aide Of The Moon" is not a song, but rather a suite: formed by all the tracks from "Speak To ME" to "Eclipse" inclusive - the suite is ONE track in 10 parts. Also, do not confuse the DARK side of the moon with the FAR side they are NOT the same,
