I do understand that this is Late getting to you here. From your attempts with this project I looks as if you have created a few EMD SD38M's. From what I have been Educated about EMDS SD38's the EMD SD38M'S were built on Short Frames , my educated guess would be a GP35 -GP40 Frame.
Hi and no problem and technically they could be designated as SD38M's. These units were built using a factory Gp38 and traded in trucks from scrapped or retired SD35 or SD24 models. They do have a nickname I called them " pocket 38's" because of their size. I do have newer videos with all the units finished. Please check them out when you can! I was also thinking about building one using a Gp40 but I haven't done that yet. Maybe I'll do one in the future.
Nice compilation. The 2nd RDG car you gotta look out for is 293. Originally it was supposed to be the PRR HU but someone in the backshops or whatever either wanted it on a PC car instead or there was a mixup in the shops, So either way they made it a 2nd RDG car claiming "We liked it so much we made 2" but if you look closely you'll see the keystone outline behind the diamond... boy is it an eye sore up close but at a distance you don't notice it. I was likely one of the 1st railfans to spot it as I was after the PC car in Lansdale. Saw a shiny IV so I assumed it was 280... the number said otherwise.
Thanks and I see. I figured there was a second one but I wasn't sure. Oh so that's what happened. So it's got a keystone logo being the Reading. Kinda like a faded logo look and that's pretty interesting. Yeah I bet it is once you see it up close. Oh that's pretty cool that you were one of the first to see it. Thanks for the history behind 293. I'll be on the lookout for it.
Beautiful car! Hoping to see the BN version. Cool factor is that at least one stayed in the Burlington Northern lettering for a while after Amtrak's formation in 71.
Indeed it sure is! Actually they do make a BN version. This one here I could have made into BN because it has all of the placards to make it the BN version. Oh that's cool!
Yeah that's the first one I've built. It's custom painted. I forget the official name I called it but, I think I called it the Zeta R Gundam. Thanks again!
A great video I worked 37 years for Penn Central and Amtrak as a block operator I work for many years at Paoli Tower. Again thank you very much for the video
No I didn't film the back because of how the charging station was set up. Plus I didn't want to bother the guy. He was running away trying to hide when I was filming 🤣
Walters doesn't make them anymore, they haven't for many years. The only way you can find them is on eBay. From my experience once you see a set on eBay they sell super fast.
@@EMDSD14R So, do I understand this correctly: that is a load of continuous 1/4-mile-long rails, and they actually flex enough to allow them to be pulled around curves? Amazing!
@@Bobbr3 yes you are correct the rails do flex while going around curves. That's why each car has special supports and guides that allow the rail to flex but not slide out of place while on the cars. Indeed it an enginnering marvel.😁
Thanks! I mean it depends they sometimes run throughout the week and weekends. I don't know when they'll run until I hear the sound of Geeps approaching. They'll pass through Paoli between 9-11 pm. Sometimes they'll have 2-4 different trains back to back within 10-20 minutes apart. Some of those moves return between 12-3 am the next morning depending on when they get done.
@@RailClipper a few hours after this train a plasser American train consisting of tampers and a a ballast clear rolled through. The after that an empty ballast train. Anytime buddy! ☺️
The Plasser machine is a pts 62 track stabilizer, the one in the middle is a KBR600 kershaw ballast regulator, and I’m pretty sure the last piece, the tamper, is a Jackson 6700. This was a couple months before I started here. I was in Wilmington shops the .
Thanks and yes that's correct. I chose that one since ESU doesn't have the sound for the real E60 electrics. Oh the BR 103 sounds similar to that AEM7, that's pretty cool!
Awesome video of thay HO-scale model of the Metroliner Cab car and the funny thing is, in real life, Amtrak used to have 3 illuminated number board lights but now they only kept one for the front end. On the tail end, they deleted and covered it up/put another sheet metal or steal metal on over it. Which is really stupid for Amtrak and they could've leave them alone back then before it was being rebuilt back in 1990's era
Thanks and it's actually still an emu. Yeah back when they were first converting them over to cab cars they had all three but plated over the rear two later on. I wonder if the conference car still has all three.
Enjoyed your video at Berwyn. My family owned Mack Oil in Berwyn. I grew up there. We were there for 89 years ! I watched many freight and passenger trains over the years on the PRR, PC and Conrail/Amtrak. The new homeowners there would not appreciate any freight trains !!! I guess you noticed that the Fritz Lumber yard was also gone now replaced by apartments, They had the last active freight siding between Paoli and Overbrook until 1985.
Thanks and wow that's cool! As a kid when I would visit my grandmother I would always look for the Mack oil company. It was one of my favorite places to see from the train. That's a long time and I bet you got to see a lot of the old diesels and electric freights. No they wouldn't but they really can't complain since they are near an active rail line. Yeah I noticed that also and I was said to see both go. To be honest it doesn't look or feel the same. Oh wow I didn't know that. Thanks for commenting on my video and sharing your families history! I hope you enjoy the rest of my video's!
Off camera before I filmed she wouldn't run properly because she was sitting for a while but once I ran her a few times things were different. Yeah Amtrak and Via cars in one train is pretty cool. 😁
Thanks and nope it's repowered using atlas RS3 parts. Watch the previous video called How to Repower an Athearn Blue Box RDC. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BGwRfwO9iqk.htmlsi=0-5t4K2fsmlZNhGG
Excellent, detailed presentation!!! For me the most beautiful ICE train ever! I have also made a video of the Fleischmann set with the title: CAMERA ride Fleischmann 4460 InterCityExperimental ICE-V 'Versuch' [406.9 km/h]. Here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wWwCgI4Rgoo.html 🙂
@@EMDSD14R I see. I was hoping they would because I’d like to have both Rapido’s and a updated and equally high quality RTG. I have the Jouef original. It’s ok.
@@Posttrip they had plans to make it but I assume they didn't have enough support for it to be produced. It would have been cool if they did though. I had the Jouef ones and they were good.
Great review, would you be so kind as to post a picture of the underside with drawbars installed and perhaps some part numbers for the Rapido and Fleischmann draw bars? Just got my set, eager to tune them up!
Thanks and yeah I can do that. I actually took some pictures and posted them up on Facebook. I'll post them here though. Oh that's cool and yeah the new couplers make a huge difference.
