Haaa Haaaa this was relatable if (bugs.length > 0) { console.log("Debugging: Because writing code is the easy part."); } else { console.log("Just kidding, I always have bugs! 🐞"); }
Where DO I start to become a software engineer? I took computer science in high school however, they mostly taught python for data analytics then I learned full stack web development, and Not sure if college is the way to go or if I should go to college to pursue a degree... a little lost ;-;
The reasoning behind why you don’t want a higher pay job because of inflation is silly and dumb. Inflation won’t matter much when you can increase your comp to 300-400k. Also, you know how I know you’re still young? You mentioned you rather work for a company that values work life balance and blah blah.. guess what? At the end of the day, you and I and everyone else are just a number on a spreadsheet. If the company needs to get rid of employees then they will do it. It’s just business.
I absolutely love how "motivationally transparent" this guy is. He doesn't sugarcoat anything, but he pretty much lays out his life as a goal for us to get to. I respect you. I'm hoping to be a full stack software engineer, so it's very nice to see that someone who doesn't even know me is inadvertently helping me in massive ways. Thank you very much, and happy coding!
Senior Dev @ Amazon Irvine here - unfortunately, it's true that entry level roles are non-existent. Many of my friends see my salary and want to jump ship to developing, but in good conscious I could not recommend it if you have no experience at all. I remember when I tried getting my first gig, needing to dance like a monkey in tech interviews just to get rejected so many times. Keep in mind this is 2017 when it was much easier - can't imagine how much you need to dance like a monkey now... Now you're competing with other entry levels, mid levels, and seniors who go let go in the past years, AND outsourced talent. Heck, there's job postings out there that have thousands of applicants for a full-stack role that's paying $18/Hr in OC and LA. Don't let this deter you from your dreams though! However, also, don't let sunk cost fallacy of your schooling and time investment trap you in a hole of lost time / opportunity cost. You could be making money elsewhere instead of waiting the market out.
Young fella…old man here also in software development for appx 25 years. That 3.5k you have left over, pls save at least 2k a month. Our industry is volatile and you will want that nice savings in times of leanness or when you get older and either want to start a family, and/or start a business. Try to save at least 100k+ and invest in some in solid stocks and index ETFs. Not fly by night long shots. And last thing, Make sure that you invest in your company’s 401(k) plan. If you don’t do anything else but invest up to the companies match, please do that that’s free money.
Hey Davy! Love your videos. Congratulations on creating a startup with your friends! I am confident you guys will succeed. In your previous videos, you mentioned having a great experience working at Squarespace, which motivated me to apply for their job. I am happy to say that they scheduled an intro call with me for this Thursday! I am so excited about it! Do you have any tips that will help me show my best side and show my interest in this company? Or what specific questions I should ask them?
Man US is another beast. I work for around $43.000 with the same experience, I am based in a Balkan country. And this is above average here for such experience. I'm a DevOps engineer with Bachelors and Masters degree in Telecommunications and Computer Science.
Doing this job you really need to move around a lot more! I used to feel like I was chained to my desk, it lasted 2 years working from home until I started to develop back and neck pain, After months of Physio I'm still not 100%, it was time for me to move on, I left my 6 figure job, working outdoors half the pay what I used to get, but I feel alive and happy. Money and title are not everything in life, you need to find that balance otherwise your mental and physical health will suffer. Thanks for being honest and showing us the truth about being a Software Engineer, I watched a lot of videos, and people make it out to be the best and easiest money-making system, until they go and try it, most people don't last long in this industry. What I hated about this job the most, was how much time I wasted in useless online Team Meetings.
They don't show the part when you're bored out of your mind in the tech feild. And working from home isn't what people think it is. Saves money on the commute but there's something about leaving the house and coming back after a hard day of work that I miss..
@@doseofdevy The specific details inside what does a software engineer really does. An explaination project you have encountered and the process of it what a software engineer is really doing. Hello brother,My work was disrupted due to the earthquake. I am developing Kotlin. I am a 3rd year student in computer engineering. I have a dream of working abroad. I live in Turkey, it seems difficult not to do an internship abroad, but if you have any advice for me, such as making my dream of working after graduation, I would like to hear it.
