Thanks for posting this video, just wondering what the cost of that personal listening environment booth was? Looking to set up my own clinic in the near future. Your videos have been super helpful in giving me an idea of start up costs and set up. Keep on doing the good work!
I just finished watching this on audiologyonline and I typically do live speech mapping with the proprietary fitting formula. Have you tried that and do you find significant differences?
Thank you for confirming what an audiologist SHOULD have. Having gone to one recently (for ear-cleaning) and then wondered why I wasn't shown the "before" and "after" photos on a computer type screen. I went back to that same mini-chain recently and specifically said that I was going to be seeing those photos and she got out her mobile phone/similar gadget and I was supposed to take a look at that (according to her). I was more than a little puzzled why I'd had to put in a specific request for what should have happened anyway and also found it very difficult to see what was what on such a tiny screen.
Rachel, I ended up going with Starkey's Personal Sound Enclosure, which is small, modern-looking and provides more-than-adequate sound attenuation for my purposes. I highly recommend it!
Unfortunately, the Timpani only has ipsi reflexes, but that has not created a problem for me yet. It does had a headphone jack for screening audiometry, however.
Thank you so much for sharing!! I had been thinking about the inventis equipment and it was great to hear a first hand account. Question, how do you have have it setup in your main office? Do you have a booth? Or are you using an “open setting” in a quiet room?
Right, that is one thing I didn't mention: there is no talk-back feature on the Piccolo (but there is talk forward), so if you're using a traditional booth, do what I do and use a simple one-way baby monitor for talk back. Without a booth (for home visits, etc.), obviously talk-back is not an issue. The Trumpet also has the option for audiometer license, that has talk-back and sound field!
Useful information and well presented with clear images. Thank you Clayton for sending me the link to the RU-vid. I liked your date re: average SII improvements by degree of 4 PTA. To an unexperienced practitioner, the SII improvements appear to be very modest. And this is no doubt something that clients pick up as well. This is something that must be explained to clients. These SII improvements are measured at 1-2 foot distance from the REM equipment speaker. Consumers likely expect that hearing aids permit them to communicate with ease at much greater distances (than 1-2 feet) yet this is something that typical hearing aids for clients with more severe hearing loss are simply not able to do. Going into these details, will also give practitioners the information why their clients ought to (also) use personal assistive listening technologies (TV streamers & remote mics) and be told about (and demonstrated or referred to) public assistive listening systems such as hearing loops, and FM/IR systems with neckloops.
what is the clack-clack sound while you are talking?? Those of us wearing HA's have problems with background noise while listening to speech. It would be very informative if you could show a closeup of the various data displayed on the wide screen, ti would help fill in what you are talking about and give us the possibility to copy the data points for future reference, an appointment with our HA fitter.
Prevent is better than cure!!!! Hope this video can help to care about your hearing. Noise Awareness Video 2017: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U8KDp1kXywg.html
Why is there no proper captioning to this video? Auto captioning is a poor substitution. There is no excuse for properly captioning this video, especially this video! :(
