Slightly different notation but ... Line ax + by + c = 0 Point A (X,Y) distance = (aX + bY + c)/√(a² + b²) Which can be proved by calculus or geometry. P.S. the nearest point on the line has coordinates ... x=(b²X-abY-ac)/(a²+b²) and y=(-abX+a²Y-bc)/(a²+b²)

Thank you for explaining the spacing. I wanted to know if the x-values spacing has to be by one unit and couldn't find a video. Now I know they only have to be of equal spacing. But can you please tell me why the spacing has to be the same?
