07/04/24: Iowa Public Television, showcasing their illiteracy. Who was "Zadok the Priest"? Who wrote this music, and when? Was this performed live or on video tape on 11/28/13? Dead silence. Ignorance is bliss.
07/04/24: The harder that the AMERICAN COMMUNISTS currently in power in the government and Main Stream Media try to re-write and destroy our proud history, the more they prove that it is ABSOLUTELY indestructible. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
I played this song at all state 2023 on clarinet. I was absolutely drenched in sweat but shivering from the beauty of the piece. It was absolutely indescribable
I have just been transported back to the 1960’s and singing “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Our Head Master (Mr. Bigger) had the entire school in the palm of his hand! Under his instruction we began singing in hushed voices, gradually building up to end the hymn in a massive crescendo! No practice, just sheer spontaneity, and boy “Battle Hymn of the Republic” has remained firmly in my heart and soul since. Thank you Leith Links Primary School, Leith, Edinburgh you taught me well🙏and thank you Iowa All-State Chorus and Orchestra, just sublime🫶🏽
This was a stirring rendition, but in my opinion (just my opinion) the modernized lyrics somewhat blunts the emotions of the original, which went “as he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free”. I feel the original better captured the personal sacrifice and commitment of the union soldiers. The modern lyrics say instead “let us live to make men free”
I was in the New Jersey All State Choir in 1976. We sang the same arrangement (May Peter J. Wilhousky’s notes live forever), conducted by Karl Minor and the amazing Ernest Brahm. The experience of a lifetime! I can still sing the Bass II part from memory to this day. Bravo to this group of wonderful singers and musicians!!
Why does that even freaking matter? But since you insist making this about race..there's two AA gentleman in the frame at 4:02. Get a life and stop making everything about race!! You just heard an amazing piece of music and your first thought is about race. Get a life
from 86-y-o in hoosierland, this gets me excited. i have recently gone backto my spiritual roots in the Presbyterian church, where i wear a choir robe an sing my little old heart out. Indiana state choral dept did this in 1954-55, at the fairgrounds colisium, minus instruments, but the original version,as i call it. i approve of the postioning of voices had not seen tht done til, today, Feb. 26, 2024,..let's hear it for live music..
Sorry, but I guess I didn't notice the signs posted in the audience, saying, "Any display of human emotion is strictly forbidden." These young and talented musicians deserved so much more enthusiasm than what they got from these dispassionate, semi-comatose observers. This stellar performance was certainly a moving and memorable experience.
The corrupt version of the very basis for the song is more proof this nation is crumbling from within . The one word that is change from die to live. Rewritten by a phony Mormon pacifist. It destroys what the lady who penned the words was conveying to a suffering nation.
Have you noticed that everyone talks about the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's version? This is good, but the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is simply superior. Their music is like no other, and I can't help but get lost in their angelic voices every time I listen to them.❤️
This is perfect, and exactly what I've been searching for. All other versions were lacking in something, though I cannot say what. This version has it, whatever it is. Love this and have it on repeat.
Brilliant performance. The passion displayed by the choir was wonderful. I was particularly impressed by the young boy in the navy blue gown with yellow V around his chest. His passion was breath-taking! His expression was perfect! His eyes really symbolised what he was feeling. The camera was on him a few times for obvious reasons. Buddy I hope you're still involved with singing. He is first shown at 1:45. Great stuff!
