did anyone else get chills when you realized what was going to happen? before he mentioned fire I was wondering how they all died. When it hit me, my heart sunk and my jaw dropped.
Oh my goodness, how utterly horrific! Thank you so much for bringing us these terrible tragedies. Not because we enjoy the pain of others, but because it's important to remember them. They once lived and were loved and they deserve that much.
When I see judges constantly giving lenient sentences to the worst of criminals, when I see bribed judges, and bribed people writing the laws, I understand that there is no better, free and just justice than that of your own.
Awful, just awful. In a way it is positive to note that vehicle and driver safety systems have become much more effective since then. RIP to those affected.
Horrible. I know that since the Carrollton school bus crash here, school buses are required to run on diesel, rather than gasoline. Is there a similar requirement in France?
did the drivers of those cars that initially caused the crash by a dangerous overtake get charged in any way, it seems their actions at least started the chain of events...
The driver lost their livelihood? Unless there were extenuating evidence. What about those in the company? The maintenance of the coach is the responsibility of the company. Yes, drivers do a visual inspection at the start of their driving shift, but there is no way they can see the internal issues. They have only their eyes and hands. That is why there is regular maintenance schedules. Sounds like the driver was the easy scapegoat, and that isn't right. The onus on the brake issue should have come upon the company, and more specifically, the people in the company that were head of maintenance.
It's really tragic when the victim list looks like the patreon list... May they all rest in eternal peace... This might be the saddest tragedy I've heard so far, and I watch multiple channels like this. 💔💔💔
Not to appear incensitive, but look again, some surnames appear 4, 5, 6 and even 7 times. I can't even imagine how you can continue living after losing that many kids.
I can't imagine the grief of a family that lost their children, and possible all their children, in this one accident. It is not anything I wish on anyone.
OMG. Some parents lost multiple children. I cannot even fathom this kind of pain and horror. RIP to all the little ones. And I hope their family members found some sort of peace and strength afterward.
When I read about this accident, it mentioned that 7 automobiles and 3 buses collided on a wet highway, killing 53 people, including 44 children on their way to a vacation camp. I wasn't too sure about the number of buses involved in the wreck were 2 or 3. Besides this crash, there were several other bus accidents in France that were serious, including the wrecks on a notorious highway called "Rampe de Lafferty"; buses going down this steep gradient would miss a sharp turn and fly off into a grassy ravine. And there was one tourist bus carrying elderly vacationers involved in a head-on collision with a flatbed lorry hauling logs. The driver of the truck had either his 2 children or grandchildren with him when the accident occurred.
The Partizans killed him when he was stopped at a check point. He was recognized by a Partizan. They told him to step out of the vehicle and they shot him.
That was really dark and heart-wrenching. Never heard of this tragedy. Thank you for your caring presentation of this horrible accident. These poor children went for holiday maybe first time in their short life's. Burning alive is my worst nightmare.
Very sad for all concerned. This is why we coach drivers have very strict rules pertaining to how long we can drive without rest periods amongs many other things.
The combination of factors here are mind boggling. The lack of alternative escape routes, mandatory brake checks, highway safety features for night driving, vehicle failsafes.. the list goes on and on. This was 40 years ago, we're we not in the modern Era yet?
Mussolini was never a "far right", he was a socialist, communist and then he started the socialistic Fascist party. A right wing person(capitalist) would never restrict freedom or free speech, all that kills capitalism. All evil comes from left wing socialists, never from the right.
No emergency exit in the coaches? a common theme of vehicles not being properly maintained to save money. The fine of 5k Francs pitifully small. Driving in France in the mid-late 80's I was aware that speed limits were reduced in bad weather, I didn't know it was because of this tragedy. More country need a similar law as today cars & lorries still drive too fast often over the speed limit in bad weather.
So much of what seems like common sense nowadays wasn't so much 40 years ago. Most safety features in existence today, be they in planes, train or automobiles, are what we call tombstone technology ... basically, safety measures which exist because innocent souls paid the ultimate price without them at some point.
You're not the only one crying through this I live in an area near the Carrollton bus crash where kids were killed because of a drunk driver I think you've covered it
I'll tell you something that won't be popular on here But I'm afraid those driving attitudes exist today I've lived in France for the last 20 years It's a French paradox Walk into a shop and everyone is polite Get into a car and the exact opposite It's all part of the French psyche
