There is no ranking system for sin. It is all terrible in God’s eyes. There are different consequences for sin here on earth. We tend to only worry about the sins that others could find out. God knows them all. Asking for forgiveness is done more times than not in an attempt to avoid or lessen the consequences of sin that has been exposed. True repentance comes usually when the conviction of the Holy Spirit compels us to make a change even when nobody knows about our sin. The church tends to sensationalize certain sins while overlooking what we perceive to be lesser sins. Jesus died on the cross for them all..
