Hi, may i know how can i read only one bit, for example : read from P1.6 only ?

You can access single pin of all the four ports using a bit address . for example P1.7, P1.6 etc. You can use 'C' program for accessing the bit. BIT input1 P1.6 // declare port P1.6 as input1 BIT input2 P1.7 // declare port P1.7 as input2 and then read them in Main program.

There are three techniques for I/O operations Programmed I/O - using 8255, 8155, Interrupt Driven I/O - it uses Interrupt controller 8259 e.g. Keyboard direct Memory Access - it uses DMA controller such as 8237/8257 for the data transfer e.g. hard disk uses DMA.
