😑 However much effective, enjoyable, AND necessary in the 2-pianos version, NO orchestral reading I've EVER heard so far, and now this one, EVER lets the woodwind "glisses" sound at conductor mark #92. I'm NOT being selfish really in wanting to hear more of what Ol' Sergei had actually written and presumably meant to be HEARD!
Hello, I have to ask something: Is there a way to listen to the whole concerto? I was very lucky to catch all movements from a Minnesota radio station... while in Sweden - that very radio station was rebroadcast here in Sweden. It's a pretty wild chain of events that lead me to hearing this piece to say the least. I have to say it's one of the most moving pieces of music I've ever heard, so any help is greatly appreciated!
Evin this came up randomly in my 'suggested feed'. Imagine my shock to see/hear YOU!!! :-) I'm sitting here in tears. My heart is so happy you're still doing your thing after all these years. Thank you for continuing to share your light. Much love and richest blessings old friend.
Bravissimo! Amazing piece of music. Dinuk's South Asian origins are clear, and Sandeep's outstanding virtuosity and performance carries it all. The Orchestra conducted by Sarah is superb - adapting to a different genre of music so well. We need more of this please.
An interesting story about building community and the importance of the arts in promoting a sense of community identity. Love the focus on individuals who made a difference. I'm so glad they succeeded in providing some beautiful performance spaces that bring great musical experiences into my life and the lives of many others.
Thank you for the eloquent insights into the musical perspectives behind this program. It will make the live experience even richer! Looking forward to Saturday night's performance.
What a wonderful introduction to this amazing piece from someone who is closely connected with Tan Dun and the premiere. Great production values and a beautiful performance by committed musicians. It was great to hear their perspectives on the piece. Such adventurous and exciting performances give one hope for the future of concert music!
Cascade Conducting was a phenomenal experience for a young conductor like myself! I’m very glad to have been a part of a group of such talented musicians, and I’m very excited to come back next year!
This was an incredible experience to work with the talented musicians of Symphony Tacoma and receive guidance and inspiration from Sarah and David, two of the most insightful and inspiring teachers I’ve encountered. The conductors were very impressive and approached the new music with enthusiasm and skill. Music is a lifelong learning experience, and these workshops offer an opportunity to make rapid progress with real world experience. I love the orchestra, and this event has greatly enhanced my understanding of the organization, the players, and the process involved in bringing a new work alive in the concert hall. Thank you Teo and Sarah and many others for all your hard work putting this together in very difficult circumstances. It was heavenly to hear a week of live music after 18 months absence.
Symphony Tacoma is diversified in every way from professional players to musical selections. Guest artists are exceptional and now a twist with video! I’m loving it all! helen!
Wow! George you have made it. I was moved to tears listening to your masterful performance of such a monumental work. Bravo my boy!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏I’m extremely proud of your achievements. You’ll be among the greatest new stars on the piano platform. Can’t wait to meet you in person when you play in London again in the near future as your last concert was cancelled due to Covid19. Take care & be safe,🤞🤞❤️❤️
A masterpiece offering on so many levels! From the get go, we sense we are in special mastery hands with GL, and likely if Rach himself could be present he would have leaned forward in his seat thinking, "Wow, yes, yes, this is what I wanted to say!" The true gold of this particular production lies in the justness and poetic truth of the video moment to moment and phrase by phrase. One feels, "Yes, yes, this is exactly what the music looks like!" This kind of excellence in media symbiosis is rare and ineffable. Reminds us that life is actually good and nature is available to remind us how. Touche!
This was a true beautiful thing, This an Eternal light for all. My baby Keianna I am so proud of her, to see her in the community and with all who was apart of it thank you. Mahalo Kokua to keiki and much Aloha.
