Wow! It's hot! You are right about old crocheters, we can crochet but don't have the style you younger ladies have. But we are still young in hearts, please be kind. You all will be there one day 😊
I definitely don’t mean to discredit makers of any age! a lot of the creators i follow and love are older than me, what i meant to say is that i notice a trend of those older than me making and creating patterns for more timeless classic items and those younger than me tend to be more experimental - and both are stylish imo but just in different ways ☺️
As a new knitter, i also noticed that the knitting community is dominated by older women who have (in my opinion) boring styles, while the crochet community has all the cute tops and sweaters and accessories. This video is exactly what I was looking for!
It looks like the color work you did on your Lana top would be called stranded color work. So cool and impressive that you figured it out on your own!Intarsia is a different method where you lock the different colored strand on the back of the work and you don’t end up with those floats on the back. You should try it out, it’s fun! :)
That Lana Del Ray top is gorgeous! I've been knitting(again - I learned it years and years ago but didn't really get into it) ever since COVID hit, so about 4/5 years and I haven't tried out too many colour work knitting projects just yet. You're very talented and I love listening to your yapping about knitting ;) Keep it up!
I am loving this channel !! I am from Scotland as well so I love seeing people knitting for our shall we say ,lovely , climate in a style similar to mine ! I love Lana del Rey too and love love love that top !
you are so lovely and talented natasha! it's so nice listening to you ramble about what projects you're working on and thinking about while i work on my own <3 can't wait to see your next video xx
I think if you added some crochet chains and straps across the back of the Lana Del Rey top, it might solve the issue of not liking how to back looks on you. I love the project how it is though!!
I'm not sure if anyone has told you never put your knits on hangers, honey. Great job. I'm a newbe as well. Started in January. I purchased a bunch of projects from we are knits. Way to many projects
Also thanks on the tip using the drops brushed alpaca instead of mohair but the get a similar look; my woo warehouse package is arriving tomorrow with some brushed alpaca
I literally gasped when you said sunset sweater because that's what I'm knitting up right now now! The pattern I'm using is the Sjobris Sweater and its such a fast knit :) Anyways love the vid and yes please keep us updated on the red tank top
I have been enjoying your videos and can’t believe you only started knitting and crocheting this year! You have made many beautiful projects. I would love a video of you making the mixed Rib Cami❣️
i'm a newbie knitter (i'm a long time crocheter) and you inspired me to make one for myself!! this is my first time following a knitting pattern and have learned so many new techniques but i'm so proud of myself for getting through it. i keep going back to watch this when i get frustrated with my knitting and it really helps me watching your process :) i'm so happy you showed up on my feed, i can't wait to see what other projects you have in store!
Love this collection! I want to start making more clothes, but a lot of the patterns I find are for backless crop tops and while I think they look SO cute, it's not something I'm looking to wear myself so it was nice seeing a good variety of kinds of tops that are still stylish. I agree that in general, knitted tops look better than crocheted tops, though both can be gorgeous. As of right now, I'm only a crocheter, but I might have to expand to knitting too if I want to make some these tops!!
I love the colour of your cardi, it's so beautiful! I'll be flying to Portugal from Bristol in a few weeks and I really want to bring my knitting along but I'm not sure of the needle rules. How did you find getting your knitting through security? :)
thank you! I had absolutely no issues, i thought maybe i was pushing it with the tapestry needle but nothing even got beeped on any of my 4 times through security. one of my friends flies with knitting all the time and has never had a problem!
ah love that yarn and your cardigan looks so good 😍 Just knitting a soft lemon yellow card of my own while watching and you're right it's such a vibe knitting to YT ❤
Girl look up what Lydia made!!! Her work is delightful and soooo well designed fit wise, highly customizable, and Lydia is Glasgow based 🦭. She also just released a super nice “going out” type of top that has an optional keyhole in the front, it was released around the same time as the mixed rib cami to. I’m making mine with the keyhole in both the front and the back ♥️👀.
I started out with the beginner knitting kits from wool and the gang and we are knitters! they’re a bit expensive but the yarn is great and they give you all the materials and instructions you need - if you don’t wanna do that you could do any basic beginner pattern (like a scarf) with a bit of perseverance really. I think already knowing crochet will help you learn v quickly!
hey just a warning about the bamboo yarn from sostrene grene! it’s really nice and soft but when i used it the yarn was constantly breaking!! it was my first project tho so maybe my tension was too tight
this is not a hot take!! just look at knitting youtube and people that make one neutral sweater after another neutral tee, and the styles of clothes the biggest designers make (petiteknit, my favourite things, etc), i NEED *younger* knitting content and aesthetics in my algorithm!!
yes glad it resonated! I think what I was trying to get at was that a lot of knitting patterns are very classic and timeless which is great, but i love seeing more experimental patterns too 🫶
this is the kind of content i've been DYING for!! i totally agree. while i do love the occasional crochet i think knit clothes look soooo much cleaner and more of the vibe i'm going for
so glad you liked!! i think i am the same as you, although i am biased because i think i prefer the process of knitting a liiiittle bit more than crochet 🤫
loving all the pattern recs ♡ !! i think youd also appreciate: - wisteria vest by crochettreat bc it gives a cool look with a bralette underneath - cosmo top by unlucky knits also has a cool cutout detail in the neck area
I've been crocheting for decades and I'm super impressed with your work! For just your second project it came out beautifully! I love the bead work you added. It's a gorgeous top! Enjoy it! I hope tons of people ask where you got it! 😁💖
Love the top you’ve made! It looks so good, I’m sure people will ask where it’s from! Hope you have a good time at the festival. I’m sure you will shine in your selfmade top!😍😍🥰
