Hello everyone!! welcome to the channel!! My name is Andre and I live in the Boston area., This is a DIY channel, where I share my way to tackle things on the lawn… most of my experience is DIY ( I am a auto mechanic by trade). I love everything about lawn, gardening, trees… I always had neighbors, friends and family asking for opinions on their lawns and gardens, so in 2022 I decided to start Dre’s Lawns and Things, where I can share the things I do around the house! I will update videos biweekly!!! Thank you 🙏🏻 and have a wonderful time on the lawn!!!
I live in an end unit town house so I bought the one with the sprayer and went over my grass. Sooner or later I will see how well it actually worked and if I need to do any touch up on any missed spots. I mostly sprayed mine because the dandelions grow so quick. I mowed yesterday and the dandelions are already back. Maybe once that stuff does its thing it won't feel like I have to mow the grass every other day!
@@dreslawnsandthings Cheap is one thing that gets people to buy things. So many people like cheap stuff. Sadly though that stuff is often bottom of the barrel Chinese stuff that breaks if you look at it funny.
Would you be kind enough to provide a link for the fitting that goes from the pump to the garden hose? I'm have trouble finding the 1 inch x 5/8 fitting
As far as I know garden hoses fittings are 3/4 inches tread and 5/8 is the thickness of hose.( in the USA) Is the 1 inch side treaded? If so is it female or male? All you need to say is 1 inch female(or male) to 3/4 treaded pcv adaptor. Here is a link for what I used at my house, I hope it helps 1-in x 3/4-in Schedule 40 PVC Reducing Female Adapter www.lowes.com/pd/Charlotte-Pipe-1-IN-X-3-4-IN-ADAPTER-FEMALE-ADAPTER/5012475655
hey man awesome video. i’m trying to rig up a solar system that runs this pump on a timer. my concern right now though is that it that the pump has to be primed every use? my initial plan is to leave the rain barrel valve open and let the pump work as the valve. the pump will be plugged into a timer that’s plugged into the power inverter and the battery. does that sound like it would work to you?
I also started working on a solar system!!! 😁 and the only problem you may encounter is siphon or syphon, the water will keep running even though pump is not running… you may need to add a shut off valve after the pump… that would also keep pump primed… good luck!!! 🍀👍
I highly recommend you grab a bad if Lesco Carbon pro G you’ll be blown away by the results. Especially for the $ site 1 has it $33 40# bag 5-10# per thousand I go heavy u can’t really use too much. Highly recommend u check use it. You’ll be stunned with the results.
DIY Homeowner Tip. 👇🏻 Never a good idea to load your fertilizer into your spreader while in the “grass/lawn”. Could be bad if you have a ooops and many will. Be sure to load the spreader on a solid surface….
Heads up on a well, dry spells on our well hurts too. Our water tables drop fast, even at 400 feet down. I can run my sprinkler for about an hour before I have to switch to a backup well we have. Both fill a 100 gallon pressure tank and run around 4gpm on the pumps in the wells.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your preparation of completing needed tools was extremely helpful. I was not sure what I was going to cut the edging with.
I tried to run my gas powered transfer pump off a big trash can and got a minute runtime before it was empty. It depends on how big your rain barrels are and what your pump specs are, whats the psi and gpm it can handle ? If its high youll be limited to short run times. Mine is 195 gpm and 50 psi. Emptied a full trash can in a minute.. of course mine is 2" in and out
Why does everyone have it set up with stuff running everywhere and laying in the yard. Mount it on the side of the house or anything is better than just setting it out in the yard.
It’s rated for 1075 gph, about 18 gpm… I got pump at Harbor freight about $150 and yes I got a T after making video, didn’t really notice much difference…thanks for watching…✌️
Would this pump work well for increasing the PSI/ volume out of my spigot to my rotor sprinkler head? I have about 50 x 50 sq feet area I need to water in my backyard. My water pressure is fairly standard Coming out of spigot, and I want the one rotor sprinkler head to have enough pressure to cover my entire backyard area. Thoughts??
I never tried that, fortunately I have good pressure here… but it may work, as long the volume of water is enough to keep pump full…I know they sell water pressure boosters, they may be cheaper…I have to say I like the pump from Harbor freight, but is kind of heavy…I hope it helps and best of luck Troy…
@@dreslawnsandthings thank you !!! In the description i saw you stored 200 gallons just wanted to know how much each barrel holds , how many gallons does the sprinkler head distribute per hour
I am very please with this product, it hasn’t popped up yet. I have them all over the flower beds too and stayed good there… I keep everyone updated… thanks for watching!!
I loved the simple and straight to the point instructions. I am having issues with my grass but it's because my dogs have destroyed it. I also live in Florida and the grass here is called St.Augusting grass. I am wondering if your technique will work here in Florida? We don't use seeds but we use sod. Any advised would be appreciated. Thank you
It would be a little different since you are planting sod, Proper soil and grading preparation is necessary to ensure a good surface. Without a smooth surface, the mower will cut highs and lows. I have seen a lot of scalped yards because of poor preparation. Since the roots are not anchored into the soil for few weeks, it is necessary to water everyday to keep the grass from drying out. Don’t water heavily, you don’t want to water log the soil. Don’t mow until the grass has sufficient root and is anchored to the soil or it may lift and be cut by the mower blades. Plugging and sprigging are other ways of planting St Augustine grass. Plugging is planting grass squares while sprigging is planting the grass stolons. The plugs should be place from 6 to 12 inches apart. St Augustine grass can be plugged at 24 inches apart, but will take longer to fill in. If using stolons, the stolons must be covered over with a thin layer of dirt except for the grass blades. This encourages rooting. I hope this helps and thank you for watching!!!
