lol, my first date with me ex was also a Vietnamese restaurant and this was before I had my car and his was in the shop so shockingly he rode the train with me home. He met me at my job, and the train was right on the corner, it was only a 15 min ride and 10 min walk to my building. It was a great first date but I also wasn’t all that invested at first. He tried to kiss me and I pulled away. He text me every day and after awhile I told him I wanted him to call once in awhile. He didn’t modify so I stopped communicating with him. He text and tried calling me once for 2 years after that! I gave it another chance and lord.. fell hard. It’s a year post breakup and he’s still communicating with me, wanting intimacy. Just yesterday I text him I can’t continue this pattern. He apologized for pulling me back into the pattern and used the term friendship. Smack in the face. I know he lurks my FB. His problem is financial insecurity and inability to be vulnerable about it. Here and there he would say something about it I guess to test my reaction and see if I’d cut him out or look down on him. That’s not me, I wanted to work on a business with him, partner with him.. but he has so much pride. It’s sad, if it wasn’t for that, I think he could’ve sustained a relationship.
I unfollowed and made my account private.. he still texts me.. each avoidant is different. Avoidant discard is so confusing..but I learned a hell of a lot about myself and patterns in general. So there’s that. I started French lessons and redesigning my closet and home, I go to Pilates weekly, and meet with my trainer 1-2x a week as well.. just restarted my peloton classes. I’m a good looking, confidant and very successful, secure (attachment style) man. I have only had one relationship experience (recent) with a DA. One of the spot on observations in this video talk by Natalie is the DA may seem romantically inclined in the early stage. But you soon discover that they do not allow much if any in the way of any normal romantic physical touch - holding hands, DFK, long embraces, even sleeping in the same bed. The sex may be great. But once it’s over, they disengage physically. If you bring it up, they gaslight you with some crazy talk that you are “obsessed with feelings.” It is beyond bizarre. I’ve never read or seen a video that explains why this is part of the DA behavior pattern. But buyer beware - it sure as hell is.
The idea that you can just suddenly decide to forget about your ex and move forward, and that you are choosing to be stuck in your pain is absurd. Only time, working on yourself and focusing on new interests slowly eases the pain. If you could just "decide" to flip a switch and erase your ex from your mind everyone would.. No one chooses to go through that pain- it's the worst.
This is so spot on when it comes to trying to build a real romantic relationship with long term potential with a DA. The bottom line is they will always keep you at arms length. There may be great sex and happy moments. But they are so emotionally stunted and damaged they cannot open up, commit or be there for you in a loving relationship. Do not hold onto the hope they’ll change. They have an emotional wall a mile High and twice as thick. Life is short. Move on. Fast.
You don't understand one thing. It is very very VERY hard to find a suitable female partner for a man. Especially when you are over 40. Because most of free women are below average on everything. Good women are married, will remarry really fast or are determined singles. Free women are really weak. They have no skills, talents, character at all and usually are damaged problematics. So the break up with are suitable woman is a real tragedy for man.
Yes you are right. My ex was very surface level only and so was his family conversations. It was bizarre since they are such close knit family. I read that it’s due to an enmeshed family dynamic. One factor at least …..
Yeah this really sucks and I’ve never dealt with anything like this before. I was so secure before I met her but now that she dumped me I’m super anxious. Normally if a break up ends I can let go and move on fairly fast but the problem with this one is we’ve never even fought before. No arguments, yelling, cheating, lying, none of it….. then out of nowhere she cries her eyes out I’m too good for her, she doesn’t deserve me, and later blocked me. Been together a year now and this is the first 5 days we haven’t spoken to each other. I’m losing my mind

I never argued with my avoidant either. Everything was wonderful for 6 months, then she began pulling back. After a month of this Said it’s not you, it’s me. That ol cliche. Wouldn’t say anything else on the subject. The next morning I walked out on her. Zero tolerance for push / pull and major withdrawal.

I do want him back but I want him to really be wanting to be with me and have learned he doesn’t want to lose me and he is willing to be vulnerable and put effort into me and our relationship. I was in a relationship with him for 11yrs before he dumped me and he was very open with me and committed to me but the caveat is he was technically married/ separated. A year after his divorce was finally underway and his life was falling apart because of it and all his reasons for fearing divorce were now coming true he decided he didn’t want a relationship with me or anyone supposedly anymore and he shut down emotionally from me. He used to answer any question with detail and tell me all his thoughts and now I get one word replies if anything. He became so distant and said he was so stressed and overwhelmed. I should have gone no contact sooner but I kept trying to get him to talk to me like he used to which just pushed him further away I now know. I am in finally in radio silence no contact and he has reached out to me casually asking how I am doing a few times and sometimes shares information on his own life or kids but I have not engaged with him in 4 months. I sent him a happy birthday message and wished him well 2 months ago but I didn’t reply when he replied to my message and once he asked a question I replied with the simple answer but I have a solid 61 days of radio silence now. Am I doing the right thing now or am I pushing him further away again? I do want him back but only if the dynamic is going to change and his feelings change and he really wants me in his life again and I am afraid if I reply to a casual text from him asking how I am doing I will basically be accepting being a casual friend and letting him think everything is fine and he can go back to breadcrumbing me and I don’t want that
Thank you for this interesting video!! It clarified the process that happens to us over and over again. I have no problem with the no contact rule, but each time when he comes back, (after a month or even 2 months), I don't have the impression we move forward in connecting to eachother. So, is there no way in fixing this? You seem to say the only way is to move on and get over him? I don't want to give up on him...😢

Female DAs never come back themselves. And female and male DAs act very very very different ways. Female DAs act always as victims and men are always wrong or bad. So the female DAs act always unethical ways bc they feel they are victims and need revenge.
You can give it all and you get dumped anyway. They just find something odd for reason to leave. My experience: she dumped me brutally bc she got some painful disease and she was sure it was my fault!
Amazing. It happened exact same way. Now we are in the cycle again: she dumped me again just after great second honeymoon phase with ridiculous reasons and I started NC. First time I was very confused. But then I discovered accidentally the DA videos and everything was amazingly clear.
No. He did lean on me for situations with a parent and with health issues. When it came to me the only time he truly gave me support was when I had a serious car problem. I felt like I gave and he mostly didn't.
1 year NC my ex did not come back. Never connected on social media and he is blocked from seeing it anyway. They don't always come back and it's a blessing because unless they are getting help it will repeat.

I didn’t like the tbiught of him looking at my life potentially when he chose not to be in it and didn't ever want to connect with me on sicial media. I also didn't want him seeing my business posts. I spent a year nervous about posting...now I no longer worry if he is looking. I did it for my closure. He has had a year....so no it's not stupid....if he wanted to come back he has had the opportunity and he isn't blocked on WhatsApp...he just can't look at my pictures (and I can't look at his sicial either and see anything to set me back)
