I saw the original theater release running of the film in 1964 when I was 8 years old. I actually thought John went down the drain in the bathtub scene. So relieved when he appeared again to tell the manager to "stop larking about". Whew !!
Four useless kids who are bored with protocol. They prepare the adults, like the gentleman traveling on the train, the reporters, the costumed people. They escape from constraints and silly questions by playing in the meadow. They shave the mirror, hang out to dance, play cards, with the small boat and dressing room accessories (mustache, beard, wig). And by the way, they play excellent music. A very good movie, even small children can watch it! My husband and I have been favorites since we were little!
Saw this movie when I was like 13 researching John for a school project. I remember back then laughing really hard when he said "I now declare this bridge...Open" and then he snips the measuring tape in half. Should've included that scene here.
All Coppers are villains. Sly villians. Funny line! What surprises me is the surreal elements in the film. Very strange. And I must admit it’s hard understand the Scouse accents they had. They were telling a lot of in jokes that I didn’t get. Nonetheless, I appreciate the subtitles and they are all clever and funny! It’s still a great debut film and I enjoy Help as well. Another winner and the music was magical. The Beatles made 2 great films and 1 dud. Magical Mystery Tour went nowhere. They went on a Busride and nothing happened. It was silly but again the music was good. And Yellow Submarine was brilliant and enjoyable. So they had 3 hit films and 1 miss. That’s not too bad. 😊The Beatles were gear! As George would say. Considering that they weren’t trained actors they actually did rather well in the films.
