Oh, now I understand since I saw the swift logo. We no longer allow swift drivers on our property be cause they hit things. Driver mill for steering wheel holders and swift will make you a trainer in two months and call you a veteran driver
Thanks for letting me know that. I was experimenting with some camera settings, and apparently the other way is better. I’ll go back to the old settings from here on out.
You went by some good stuff in Detroit that didn't make the video. Ford Field, Comerica Park,, Detroit skyline, old Packard plant. Mopar comes from Chrysler Motor Parts.
Keep trucking along. I'm a local trucker from the state of Maine. I've had my CDL for about 6 years now and i know how nerve wrecking it can be when your out on your own. Drive the way you feel comfortable, "G.O.A.L." Get out and look as Many times as it takes.
Advice on company not tryna go with super mega carriers but might not have a choice since smaller companies want me to b over 21 yrs old currently not even got a job w my cdls 9 mo experience
You're doing great. Don't listen to the haters. I worked for Schneider years ago. I took a lot of crap everywhere I went. Swift is a good company. Always watch out for Western Express 😂
What part of Louisiana are you from? I'm in the Slidell area. The guy you were talking about being eaten by the gator was a friend of mine. Worked with him for a long time.
I'm pretty sure you've been to truck driver school so you pretty much have the basics, I'm gonna tell you what I was told when I started in the 80s, take your time, drive the way you feel comfortable and try not to hit shit and you'll be just fine. Good luck to ya.
About the condition of the roads in Michigan: the annual freeze/thaw cycles and with kajillions of heavy vehicles on the roads make for bad roads. You can't keep those roads in perfectly smooth shape year after year. No one has the budget for that. There are quite a few roads, especially the farther north you go, that your truck are not allowed on during the thaw right after winter.
I have noticed that you don’t visually look for no-gap between fifth wheel and trailer, or check to make sure lock jaws are around king pin, or perform tug test when connecting to trailer. I have been driving trucks for 10 years and have witnessed drivers dropping trailers because of this. Also check your trailer lifts up slightly when connecting to trailer. I haven’t seen you do this on your videos so far. I would hate for this to happen to any driver…be safe and good luck 👍
Great videos, man very informative you making it look like Swift might be the company to work for might be a place to be be safe out there keep trucking🚛🚛🚛
your doing good checking your lights. also check your king pin. make sure the bar is across and locked. and get a hammer make sure all the tires are inflated. and not flat.
another thing Chris take your time. Better safe then sorry. another tip. when making a right turn from an intersection? pull forward till your front right tire is at the center line. watch your left mirror as you turn the trailer should line up with it. this will give you plenty of space from the curb
when you back into a tight spot. don't worries to the rear trailer, always watch your rear wheel it will line you up every time even when hooking to a trailer the rear wheel should be lined with the corner of a trailer.
