Everyone interviewed had a fairly general memory of the events - everyone except her brother the priest. It was his sister, he found the body, he remembered conversations with Ian Gordon. But when anything of substance was asked suddenly his mind was blank! I sincerely regret it, but I suspect he knows things he's never told. My own critical reasoning supposes that maybe her big brother, the priest, was gay and she threatened to expose him. He could not let that happen. Poor awkward Ian, the nervous misfit; he would have been the perfect fall guy. So the barrister becomes a priest - against all odds. Many men have thought to hide themselves from a bad conscience. I'm a (bad) Catholic so I'm not biased. It is the Sherlock in me connecting invisible dots, same as the police did.😮
Patricia's brother is v v shifty. Your sister has been murdered & you cant remember how you felt when you realised she was dead? And can't remember writing letters to the main suspect? Then a sudden conversion to a different religion that is big on forgiveness. I feel his wanting Clarke's visits to their home to continue had a sexual reason , not the "being a good Christian" one he gave.
Change, i might be a very good person. But yhats no reason to dau wekcone mire ir theres the for example th congregation. All very good nice personal people. Wjy.any prrsonmeeds alocationt mote than to older regular order women eho van help more than is he ok ? Nay font gettin thier way
I think the 3 convictions for flashing are a disturbing feature of Ian’s personality and it would be interesting to know how and where these things happened, and if Ian had targeted his victims. Being flashed at is a very intimidating experience for the victim especially if it happens in a place where the woman is alone and fears being followed. Is that what happened the night of Patricia Curran’s murder, things simply got out of hand and Ian has blocked it from his memory? Of course if they officers thought they had their man, it explains the questioning tactics of the RUC. The lack of forensic evidence is the real problem in this case, evidence to acquit as well as evidence to convict.
I agree. After an incident where a repair guy groped me years ago, the Police Woman that took my statement said I shouldn't worry that it was too 'minor' to report, as these types of offences always escalate to more serious ones & flashing, groping etc is usually how serious offenders start off .
The medical evidence suggests that Patricia was murdered shortly after getting off the bus, and that Desmond Curran had an alibi (he was at court until 8pm), who therefore had the opportunity to commit such a savage murder and dispose of the evidence? Patricia was stabbed over 30 times, her blood must have been all over the murderer. Was any attempt made to check for bloodied clothing or missing clothing ? I wonder to what extent this programme is presenting people with a false binary choice …..Desmond Curran the introverted intellectual who became a priest or Ian the possibly gay. possibly bi sexual, socially awkward, Mummy’s boy. How many other people could have been in the area around teatime, how many other people could have murdered Patricia and left the scene covered in blood, disposed of the weapon, disposed of their clothing and resumed ‘normal life’? The Police have to act on any false alibi, that immediately puts Ian in the frame. It’s rather shocking to hear him say that the sergeant told the soldiers to make sure they had alibis and this promoted him to make one up. Did he carry a knife, were people interviewed to confirm these things? What was he wearing when he left the barracks? How would he return to the barracks covered in blood? Where would he dispose of his clothing? Who were the other people who got off the bus with Patricia? She had been at university for some 3 weeks, was anyone stalking her? If Desmond Curran was a murderer it would require his whole family to conspire to protect him and give false evidence, I think that would be a very far fetched scenario, in any event he wasn’t at home when the murder was committed. Patricia’s father was a High Court judge and in the 1950s NI was a deeply sectarian society. Were any enquiries made about anyone having a grudge against the father? Was the v isolated area through which Patrica had to walk, known as an isolated spot, did it attract stalkers or other undesirables? Were there any unsolved murders of a similar type committed in the years following Patricia’s death?
Irish, brain wished by Catholics Abused by the British and forgotten by history, wherein lies the lies, known alone to those who alone that bore witness to the beginning of the end where the future never looks back.
Ian Gordon, who I believe is innocent did himself ZERO favours when he asked for Mr Connors to provide him with an alibi, engaged in secretive illegal relations in the woods, wrote to Desmond Curran, did not seek legal counsel and signed a confession he did not make.
Gordon was a young man -- it's a sexual time of life -- and Patricia was attractive. He had been to the glen so knew it was a deserted area. I think he came upon her accidentally, and did make a play for her. When she refused him he became angry, and used the knife he always carried. It's telling that he approached another soldier to try to create a mutual alibi. So far, he is the most likely candidate as far as I am concerned. Further, since his release he has been guilty of indecent exposure. He is a sexual deviant and he should be on the sex offender list for the rest of his life.
Mrs Curran was never in a mental hospital. Gordon was also seen loitering at the driveway, by two witnesses, he knew multiple details that the murderer would have known. Don't people know that all murderers are innocent.?
This murderer has spent his life telling us he was innocent. He is a misfit, he lost it when he was rebuked by this young girl, and murdered her brutally. This maniac asked others to give him a false alibi, he told the police details only the murderer would have known.
Love to read the comments lamenting the traditional steps, dresses, and hair. I so agree! I hope there is a return to tradition, and less emphasis on glam and showiness!
Cometh the Hour Cometh the Man. Collins was the right Man at the right time just like Churchill was for the British in 1939 and Field Marshall Zhukov was for the Russians. Collins Intelligence Network in Dublin Castle was the thing that gave him the edge and finally led to the Treaty. You can say he never pulled a Trigger himself as the Diehard Cathal Brugha accused him off in Dail but he didn't need to as his skill was in ordering the striking of the right Targets that would make the greatest impact in Downing Street.
So this was 1990. Some of these dancers may have been part of the Celtic explosion of the 1990s. There are future RD and LOTD dancers here, like Colin Dunne.
It wasn't Collins who sent Ireland in the wrong direction, it was De Valera. Had he stood with Collins, there would have been no civil war, a united country and people, and the opportunity to set the scene for reunification. Dev destroyed all hope of that, and poisoned Irish politics for generations.
@@OliviaLaferriereAt best, Dev was an inept commander during the Rising. The overall failure of it can be attributed to any number of factors, none of which would be Dev.
700 years. The horrible oppression visited on the Irish at the hands of the English cannot be overstated. Unless, of course, you are a member of the Anglo-Irish ascendancy…
What nonsense! Terrorist godfather Michael Collins who was more of a hinderance than a benefit to the IRA, his documents the greatest source of intelligence for Britain. When will Irish Nationalists stop eulogising murderers with innocent British blood on their hands?
Very interesting informative historians laffan and Lee spot on Collins grandniece spoke well of Collins at the end as the legendary Tom Barry of West Cork said in 1966 at a Michael Collins commeration. No one inside or outside of Ireland did more than Michael Collins
I wish Irish dancing would go back to this!! So traditional! This is coming from someone that has done Irish dance for 15 years, and whose daughter was an Open champ. I just think that today’s Irish dance has strayed from what it started as. The dresses with the Book of Kells…..rather than the blinged out $4K dresses (which Ive bought quite a few of). Maybe Im just nostalgic. The steps that these ladies are doing and the talent is equal to the modern day dancers….honestly even better. It’s pure Irish. ☘️
Keep it Natural, nothing worse than nice young girls wearing wigs, people come to see them Dance not to look at their Hair. These kids train like they were getting ready for the Olympic Games, they also make a lot of sacrifices & work hard with no help from anyone, not too mention the injuries. I often wondered who is making the profits from all this, lm not speaking about Michael Flatley his shows were Brilliant, it should have been someone in Eire doing this, it did highlight the Irish Dance & gave a lot of our Dancers a chance to make some financial gain. Appreciate your natural Heritage, be proud of who and what you are, also the joy your Dancing has brought to the World☘️ 🇮🇪☘️🇱🇷🇮🇪☘️🇱🇷🇮🇪☘️🇱🇷☘️🇮🇪🇱🇷☘️🇮🇪☘️☘️
Some of the more modern costumes, wigs, tans, sock glue and fake eyelashes would be more suited to Tiaras and Tantrums showing kids in pageants. Absolutely horrible. The only thing is that a lot of the girls do genuinely enjoy the dancing aspect. It's a shame it's been allowed to become so fake and unnatural.
