God I've been wanting to do something like this for years. I have a very clear vision of what the movie would look like for years, sort of like David Lynch meets a grind house film. I have visuals for every track and a story to wrap the whole thing in.
So cool that you included scenes from Fear and Loathing! I always thought that that movie and California (the album) shared kind of a similar vibe, at least unconsciously. Amazing work!
Absolutely incredible video, great work respecting both of the source materials. Also I’m sure this looks absolutely satanic to people who have no idea what either of said source materials are which I find hilarious
This is incredible. Truly a masterpiece. I did not know the original. This is all there is. This is all there needs to be. I have played 8 hours of Noita, eleven months ago, and could ask for nothing better.
Awesome work on the video! I'm here to double check the lyrics in my head, because it just occurred to me that this track predates Bostrom's Simulation Argument and Simulation Hypothesis by several years, and yet the song presents some eerily similar themes in the lyrics. Bostrom writes specifically of billions of "ancestor simulations". Makes me wonder if he was a Mr Bungle fan, or he maybe spoke about his simulation ideas with a Mr Bungle fan while working on it. Just a thought. Maybe they both borrow from the Matrix? But that only predates the album by a few weeks so I doubt it .
It's an interesting time capsule of millenial Extropian/Singularitarian thought. Although the song is more relavant now in 2024 than it was back in '99.
