this excercise showed the highest infraspinatus activation in a study. evem higher when you pushed your ellbow into your assisting arm into direction of the floor
I love minimalist shoes, i actually perfer to be barefoot. Unfortunately, i had to have my lateral sesamoid removed and now the podiatrist is recommending really thick, stiff sole shoes and they hurt my feet and outer shins. Do you have any brand recommendations for something in the middle?
Despite all of my physical fitness through the years - including strength training with farmers carries, running, yoga, etc...- I have a waddle. Unfortunately, mine cannot be fixed due to congenital hip displaysia corrected by surgery at about 2 yo. One leg is shorter than the other and over the years that is causing more issues than anticipated (I'm over 30 now).
After you had the surgery , did it fix the Waddle Gait ???? I believe ( not a 100% proof , I have the same , I am waiting for an appointment ). And I have one leg shorter ( left ) . I am so sorry you are going through this. Thank you , Debbie
@debbiec6216 my surgery was at the age of 2 (due to a birth defectthey didn't catch until i tried to walk). I'm in my 30s now and I'm starting to notice a pronounced waddle I've never noticed before. I'm not in any pain. And I'm physically strong - very active so I'm not sure what else I can do to avoid it. I wish you luck and good health.
@@Stranger_Strange_Land I read where this dysplasia is caused at birth . I'm waiting for a doctor appointment to find out my situation. I need to ask my Othropedic doctor about it . This is the very first time, I ever heard of it . I hope for the best for you . If you waddle, use a cane or talk to your doctor . I been exercising for over 2 years on this and nothing changed . Thank you for responding back .....
work at ups, never knew i was lifting wrong until the (usps) postmen i see most often started making fun of me. they never teach you this stuff! thanks for showing how it's done. this is gonna save me big time.
I have flat Reebok shoes, not comfy for walking it males my lateral shin muscles in pain . I am working on strengthening those muscles because of atrophy due to an old injury. Is walking on flat shoes regardless the pain I get on my weak muscles good for strength ?
no, yes walking in a flat minimalist shoe will help strengthen your feet muscles but you have to ease into it if you have never worked those muscles. Just like if you went our and tried running a marathon without training would cause you to injury yourself do to overuse and "too much too fast." if you are having pain i would highly suggest getting an evaluation from a physical therapist so they can give you a more targeted plan and guidance.
hello, can you tell me what exercises I can do, I also bought a Balance board, but the problem is that I have fusion at the talus and calcaneus, how can I use it safely?
It’s tough to say without providing an actual evaluation of your ankle/foot. But very general advice would be to don’t do thing that cause sharp pains. This exercise generally would be good for someone with a fusion.once it has healed As long as you are gentle
@@TheHandyTherapist it's been 3.5 months since the operation, I'm doing physiotherapy, I live in Germany and a video on the ankle recovery exercises on your channel helps me, I even do them every day, today I received the balance board from amazon, lateral movement ankle here I don't think I can do it anymore because the sinus tarsi joint is no longer there because the talus and calcaneus have joined
Be great if put a bit more of a description of benefits in the description. Im surprised so few likes!!! I subscribed before the Bull rush!! Mr beast says just add videos regularly and don't think too hard about it. Real estate agents bread and butter is "listings". More chance of a winning lottery ticket the more videos and different topics you hit.
I don't love giving exact recommendations without assessing someone first but this exercise is generally harmless to most, so i will. I would shoot for doing about 20 on each side 2xday
great video! I can't do all of the exercises, but not yet asked to by my Dr. However, the ones I AM asked to do,,,well your illustrations with details really helped a lot! Thank you so much for posting!!!😊
Thank you for explaining it and displaying. In the middle of leg day, and realized i didn't know the difference between romanian and standard deadlifts lol
If the MTP is fused you probably won’t be able to do this exercise. The MTP joint is the main joint moving in this exercise. There are many other foot exercises you can do to strengthen your feet and reduce the chance of aggravating that fusion. It’s too late now, but many of those exercises may have eliminated the need for the fusion. (But obviously I don’t know your situation, so I can’t say that for sure)
@@TheHandyTherapist Thanks. I thought that moving the band up might have allowed me to strengthen the final joint in the toe. Can you suggest other foot/toe strengthening exercises suitable for a foot with a 1st MTP fusion? It's surprisingly difficult to find this information on the net.
@@joshuagoldstein8116 I don’t love prescribing specific exercises without evaluating people first. But if you just go through the foot/ankle exercises playlists. Any of the exercises you can do, should help some. Also making sure you massage the scar tissue around the surgery site once the wound has healed
It's more difficult and engages your intrinsic muscles on a higher level. Also, it's adjustable to make more difficult once you have mastered the basic tool.
probably stability will feel better and then neutral some of the time so you can work on strengthening the feet muscles while you are wearing the neutral shoes
can be for sure without assessing you or watching you perform the exercise, but i would suspect that you are probably tensing up your upper back. try resting your shoulders slightly higher toward your ears and focusing relaxing your body and keeping your entire back flat against the floor
@@RevivalPerformancePT are virtual sessions available & or beneficial? If so please let me know as this has been causing me slight frustration over the past few months.
I pulled lower back muscle while waiting to recuperate I did modified of this same thing but I kept arms on side and keep my legs straight use my arms push myself up take pressure off sore muscle while keeping my back flat to ground
