This is a game changer for people who have mobility issues, like myself. My dislocated shoulder won't permit me to do a traditional launch with low and wide arms. More people should be taught this technique in schools. It also induces less stress on a healthy shoulder and helps avoid rotator injuries
@Vindolin It didn't work for me. Helped a tad, but not enough. I just figured out how to get PETG to stick to the textured sheets and I don't print anything on the smooth sheets anymore. When the textured sheets are brand new I scrub them with orange hand cleaner that has pumice in it. Then I wash with dawn dish soap. Prints stick and release like a charm and no sheet damage.
@@4x4dually That's strange, I only print PETG about once a month but I never had any problems getting them off the plate. I have ca. 10 spools from different manufacturers and that trick worked with all of them so far. With bigger prints I usually use a squirt bottle to apply a bit more ISO then with smaller ones and let it creep under the print before I try to lift it. What concentration did you try? I"m using the 99.9% stuff.
@@Vindolin I think it's the 99 or 95% ISO....whatever teh 50 gallon drum on the assembly floor has in it. I'm very impatient. I don't take time to drown it and let it soak. Glad it works for you. I just pull the textured sheet off the printer and set it on the top of my office A/C unit. The top of that unit is always cold summer and winter. As the plate cools, I can hear the parts release. It only takes a few minutes and there is no prying at all most of the time. Then I wipe it clean with the ISO and it's ready to go again. I have two plates, I just rotate. Simple and works for me. I just couldn't get the ISO to creep under the parts on the smooth sheet.
I'm printing TPU on this original Prusa PEI build plate for about two years now without any damage. Pieces that feel like they are welded to the PEI instantly release when the Isopropyl creeps between the layers.
@@Vindolin Interesting! Im glad you've had such success. Perhaps it only becomes a factor at higher nozzle/bed tempters. What temperatures are you using?
@@dominichouston955 Usually I print between 215c - 225c and 50c bed temp. Give it a try at the side of your build plate. I have a seconds printer without a PEI sheet where I successfully use Kapton tape. Without isopropyl you rip the Kapton right off the plate when trying to remove the part but with isopropyl it comes right off without pulling bubbles under the Kapton.
Moin! I'm trying to build a replacement of the wired Controller out of an Arduino. As far as I know it uses a AT89C4051 Microcontroller, so my guess is they are using UART to communicate with the Amp. Do you happen to know what the pinout of the D-Sub 9 is?

My D4 has been languishing in the Saucisse bag for three weeks now. I'm going crazy. Now I have a 3 day weekend, and tomorrow conditions are no good. I think I need to quit my job, abandon my wife and move to someplace with better flying.
Oh I can relate to that, we had horrible, unflyable weather from the end of November to mid February. It's not the Alps but I'm happy to have a decent amount of sites in an 1.5h radius that cover all wind directions. It always strikes me how few flying sites (and paragliding pilots) you seem to have in the US, what's the cause for that?
@@Vindolin we actually have quite a few sites within 2 hours drive of my house. They face almost every direction, except for northeast or Southeast. Lately guess what on my days off the wind has been from the northeast or the southeast. As for the lack of flying sites, there are quite a few, if you're willing to drive. One disadvantage is paragliding is prohibited in all national parks. Also problems with insurance and lawsuits make many landowners unwilling to allow us to use their land.
@@Vindolin another problem we have is the Wilderness Act of 1964. Any areas that are designated as quote-unquote Wilderness areas, have prohibitions on any mechanized travel. But guess what, mountain biking hang gliding and paragliding are classified as mechanized travel. But they allow horses. In many ways it's due to an overly authoritarian government, that listens to special interest that think that Wilderness is only for looking but not touching or recreation.

I had an annoying cravat I'm my Delta 4 last month. Took a tip tuck on the outside tip iin a bumpy thermal. The cravate was really hard to get out. It wasn't big so not dangerous, but I had to struggle and struggle with the stabilo line. I was almost ready to use two hands on the stabilo when it finally popped out.
The air was somewhat nasty on that day, but the cure was easy to handle by applying a bit brake on the open side and a bit of weightshifting. Wonderful! I have seen many videos of this beautiful place to fly by the bend in the river. Easy drive to launch, grass, fabulous scenery, lots of happy pilots. What is the name of the launch and the river? The sky was crowded this day! The looked smooth, great shots flying close to the other wings. Nice colors on your D4, are those custom? You seem to be having less problems with Ears than I am ... Great landing!
Sorry Steve, I must have missed the comment notification. The launch is above the vineyards of Klüsserath over the river Mosel near Trier. It's one of the more frequented sites in the region but on that day there were even more pilots than usual and the air was super smooth. This often happens on evenings after a sunny day when the cold air flows into the valley causing the warm air to rise, we call this "Moselwunder". Yes those are custom colors. Ears are really not one of the strengths of the D4 but I find them to be manageable. Btw. there are a lot of launch sites along the steep slopes of the Mosel. One of special features here is that you can see the thermals moving on the water before they rise up the slopes, so you can watch for those signs and know where you have to fly to find rising air :)
Wow man, this is great. Have some humidifiers in my plant room that I want to install a feed valve from a larger water supply to. This is smart and simple solution for the materials I have available. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! Normally it's really easy to land on that slope. It's quite long and if you're still to high at the end, you can just turn around and try again. But I really want to know, who thought it would be a good idea to plant that pointy sign there 🤬
Thank you so much! I followed your directions and the upgrade is the best 12 bucks I've spent for my printer!!! These are almost silent! I was getting so annoyed by the stepper motor sounds! Unsodering and resoldering the pins was the biggest pain! Now time to upgrade the fans to more quiet ones. If you are planning on doing this upgrade, save your self an hour of headache and do buy the boards without the pins!

@@Vindolin thank you. I've read somewhere it should be in the surroundings of 0.4v. To be honest I didn't bother and it's working fine with default setting, the motors are not heating
