Corn Pone Flicks is an amateur film/parody group that began in 1989. We began by creating overdub parodies of Space Cruiser Yamato, and gradually moved on to short films and fake trailers. Our most accomplished work is The Ozone Commandos, a sci-fi comedy featuring 458 effects shots, made for almost no money. We also have a Vimeo channel which features some longer videos not hosted here:

Not really...lots of people were doing them. I'm not sure what to say about what it was like...it was fun for a time, I guess. I quit keeping up with anime in the mid-nineties when they stopped making the kinds of movies and shows that had gotten my initial interest.

I loved this movie growing up. It was a regular on tv where I grew up and in a lot of regions. Alice Krige would regularly have women and girls running up to her in the grocery store going all "ARE YOU THE GHOST STORY GIRL!?" and if I ever meet her I'll do the same, tell her she was great in Silent Hill and my mom's a trekkie so she'll geek out on The Borg Queen and I was just one of those kids and from one of those families that stuff like this was even suitable for watching while in bed. I'm sorry you were traumatized by it and I would have taken you in the other room to watch Wizards or Beetlejuice or Salem's Lot. Another favorite.

Wasn't the town at the base of the mountain in the book called sidewinder? And there is a real sidewinder saloon at the base of the mountain of the hotel that serves as the exterior of the Overlook? That's cool. Either that is a serendipitous coincidence, a part of why Kubrick chose the location for exteriors or it was established after the movie and is referencing the book.

In the TV series “The Hulk,” the protagonist was named David Banner because the show runner didn’t like the comic book trope of alliterative first and last names (i.e., Bruce Banner, Peter Parker, Clark Kent). When the TV show became much more popular than the comic, how did the comic address their lead character having a different name from his small screen counterpart? They made it his middle name! So in the comics he is “Bruce David Banner”. Charles Delbert Grady could have simply gone by his middle name in less formal situations like a men’s room encounter, which his boss might not have known. I don’t actually think that’s in the script or Kubrick’s mind, it’s probably just a continuity error. But it’s an easy fix for someone who watches the movie a lot and wants the error polished over.
@Corn_Pone_Flicks
@Corn_Pone_Flicks 12 дней назад
I personally love that they thought that alliterative names sounded wonky, so they cast a man named Bill Bixby in the part, which is even more alliterative than Bruce Banner.

As a Blackfeet member from the very area where the intro is filmed, I find it remarkably insulting that you suggest that native genocide doesn't impact our daily lives. Take a quick look at how many young native women go missing every year in the northwest. Read about how the control that the federal government's control over reservations prevents us from pursuing the people who murder our people and building businesses to be self reliant. The native genocide is still happening. You're an idiot.

Regarding the disappearing driftwood sculpture, and chairs that come and go, the changing typewriter, etc. let's not forget that that set burned down at some point during the production, and had to be rebuilt. I don't have access to the shooting schedule, so I can't say for sure if that is the reason for the continuity errors, but most of them do occur in scenes shot on this set. So for me, it's at least a possible explanation. Oh... yeah. you mentioned it a few minutes later. I'll see myself out.

@Corn_Pone_Flicks
@Corn_Pone_Flicks Месяц назад
Surely you can guess. I've never heard of this one, but it sounds like typical blathering lunacy. So, "they" killed Kubrick by giving him a heart attack, but didn't stop the actual film from coming out? These things are ripped straight from the rectums of people desperate for life to be exciting, so they invent these things and then pretend they're real and pat themselves on their back for being clever boys, having solved the riddle that never existed.

I dont know may be The Shining indeed start with a new gender, the Analogic Horror. snuff movies, the death on video, its the camera and the video culture. I dont know I give up. Prior to the initial release of Heavenly Creatures, both women were living new lives under assumed names. But the film stirred up interest in the case which led to both of their identities being discovered. Jackson probably didn't intend for this to happen and regretted it. I've often wondered if this is why he's allowed the film to remain out of print-to give them as much privacy as possible in their remaining years. Anne Perry (Juliet) passed away last year, but I believe Pauline is still alive.
@hewasfuzzywuzzy3583
@hewasfuzzywuzzy3583 Месяц назад
I think people's own personal theories that they believe explains a movie, somehow on a deeper level-as in subconsciously or in some other meta or esoteric way. They're really telling more about themselves and what the film and their own theory says about themselves and their own history of their life. And this isn't some new idea or revelation. That's just what personal interpretation does and says. The Shining is a great film because of how well it was written, filmed (directed and produced), framed, edited, and promoted/distributed. It being a Kubrick film and due to Kubrick's reputation-rumored and made legendary by fans own personal theories and interests. That is what has made films like, The Shining, and Eyes Wide Shut his two biggest theorized films for so many years. I really appreciate and thank you for your honest and explicit breakdown of what Kubrick and the source material has really said this movie is about. It's "hidden in plane sight" because so many people are looking for something more than what already is a really good film and story that is in itself a clear warning of the dangers that humans are susceptible to.

One of the comments I’ve seen in another Twin Peaks video that stuck with me is an old Twin Peaks t-shirt that read «I killed Laura Palmer» as in «We, the audience killed Laura Palmer» which rings true considering David was forced to reveal the killer’s identity by studio executives on behalf of the audience who needed a conclusion to keep watching the show. I feel like The Return is David’s final FU to said executives, critics and «fans» of the show who hated and badmouthed Fire Walk With Me(my favourite movie of all times). And from what I’ve seen, he definitely succeeded in pissing off the same people who were looking forward to more of James’ adventure from S2 and other straight forward soap opera elements from the original show that, IMO, were totally uninteresting and had nothing to do with the original mystery of Laura Palmer and her murder, or the Golden Goose, as David referred to it. After Leland was revealed, you can pretty much pack the interesting bits of rest of the S2 in an hour long episode. What would be left of S2 is probably what people who hated The Return/Fire Walk With Me wanted to see - previously mentioned James’ escapades, introduction of Billy Zane’s character and other brainless subplots you find in any daytime soaps. What bothers me the most is that we never got to see the original Twin Peaks from S1 evolve in the way that David had envisioned. On the other hand, if it wasn’t for idiot executives and soap opera fans who destroyed S2 by wanting conclusion, we would probably never have gotten the 2 masterpieces in Fire Walk With Me and The Return. And if we never get another movie/show concocted by David, I am forever grateful for the ones we already have cause they gave me much, much more than David or I could have ever dreamed of. P.S. I keep coming back to your channel every time I rewatch Fire Walk With Me, which is at least once a year, in hope I’ll find a brand new David Lynch/Twin Peaks video. And if there is nothing new, I just rewatch your old ones and they are just as awesome as the first time I saw them. Kudos💪

Just came across this video. Very well done. I, too, have never thought the film needed to be explained. Still, I enjoy the endless theory’s because I love the film and enjoy hearing other people takes on it. Many, however, as you pointed out quite well, are bonkers, silly and just plain wrong. Still, it’s fairly evident that Kubrick put a lot in to every scene, that there are additional themes and motif’s. It’s a film that rewards the viewer for paying attention. However, none of these things supplant the narrative or change it. Ultimately, I think Kubrick intended the film to be unnerving from start to finish, and he succeeded. It’s quite possible that disappearing chairs and other incongruities may very well have been errors do to multiple takes and shooting scenes out of order. I prefer to think they were deliberate to further enhance the “creepy factor” of the film. But, ultimately, I think that with any piece of art that is made by someone who puts great effort and thought into every detail, you will get things like themes, motifs and meaning even if the creator didn’t actually intend them. That’s just what happens when a talented artist applies their talents to full effect. At any rate, The Shining is a masterpiece of brilliant and unsettling camera work, an extremely effective and haunting soundtrack, and incredible performances from Duval, Lloyd and Nicholson, and a fairly straightforward and easy to understand, almost predictable, plot. You sure can get a lot out of this film for certain. There’s a lot that will be missed by casually viewing it. But even with all the “extras”, I don’t get why so many people insist that the film is about everything other than what is clearly shown and equally clearly stated.

It's not complicated. Danny and the cook early on show that the telepathy 'shining' is real and that there is darkness in the Hotel. This is not all going on in Jack's head. The Hotel has an evil presence and works through certain people like Jack who are susceptible and can be manipulated. Jack already has the darkness in him and the hotel uses it by getting Jack into debt to gain Danny but Danny outsmarts him. All the changes aren't of any significance they are not even errors, they are things that they had to change in order to get the shots they wanted and didn't expect that years later people would be analysing it on youtube. If they walk out of wrong store room it's because they wanted the camera shot of going in to be tracking through the big kitchen but then going somewhere else afterward, they didn't think people would notice in a single f#%king viewing in a movie theatre. look at all the changes in any movie at the time, Their job is to make a creepy movie in a few months so that people pay to see it and tell their friends it was good so that they pay to see it in the 8 weeks while it is still in movie theatres. That's It!!! No hidden messages!!! 😂😂😂
