Sir I have been in the special force Telemark bataljon Norway, is it possible to fill it up with just ice and have cooling and water during heatstroke periods.. please spread the word ❤❤
I believe we used the large FILBE Ruck at Cold Weather Training at the Mountain Warfare Training Center in March of 1999. I forgot all about that until it clicked in my head about the cavernous space inside of it, the bottom section that could be closed off and the side pockets and carrying pockets. We used those to carry our skis and poles. We were all kitted out for the extreme cold with ECWCS Gear and mummy bags to sleep in. It got down to -50 at 0-Dark-30 when we woke up with the strong winds on top of it. When we were cross country skiing during the day, it got up to 10 degrees and we stripped down to our base layer and rolled up our sleeves in the sun. We had a blast! I wanted to transfer there as permanent personnel lol.
Well, hell. I was hoping to use mine as a game pack. This means alotta weight centered low. Perhaps leaving the center panel zipped closed will help keep it higher.
Advice, Informative information, :" Try it, You'll Like it. This information and tips comes from experience and extensive use of Gregory and Ospree , ILBE backpacks. Keep your heavy items in the top of the pack. Make sure that you have full access to the two straps that keep the shoulder straps attached to the pack. When going up a hill pull the shoulder straps attached tight to your body. Keeping the pack ,and the weight close to your back. When walking on a flat surface, adjust the straps that the weight of the pack is riding on hip. This is referred to as " Driving Your.Pack"
I just picked this set up with a patrol pack for 70.00 bucks. Dyed it all brown, OD and foliage. All my hiking gear fits in the patrol pack with room to spare. The vest has all my fighting gear in in. Outstanding value and incredibly comfortable. Thanks for the vid!!
There Is not a pocket made for it but there is plenty of space for it. The ACU hydration pack easily attaches to the pack also and give you the ability to carry it stand alone.
The hook at the top of the bladder is used to hang it up during and after cleaning. Not for putting the small-adjustable retaining strap through. The small-adjustable retaining strap goes above the bladder lid behind the hook for retention. The wide plastic bladder fill-handle goes outside of the bladder lid fill-port hole, not inside the carrier to control deflation and bounce. So, when you unzip the top flap to open it, the fill lid and handle are exposed.
I found that if I put my rain jacket and pants in the buttpak and strap it to the bottom under the sustainment pouch of this ruck you won't have to fight the ruck to stay upright and your rain gear is ready to deploy.
Chief, when you pack snacks/rations, have you tried the Mountain House LRRP freeze-dry vacuum-sealed "bricks"? I ordered some from OP Tactical and they are great, but I noted that even in transit, pinholes develop in the ration packaging if they're handled roughly. If you've tried these before, have you had the same issue?
I want to purchase one of these from you guys but I’m trying to figure out exactly what it comes with. The photos show the belt and pouches but they are not listed anywhere in the description.
Hey Master Chief! I’d like to thank you on this video! I’ve been wanting a AVS for a very long time and every other video on youtube is super outdated and old. Great view and thank you so much for actually showing the set up. I never understood 100% how to actually assemble it. Please do more videos like this! New subscriber! Forest from Tennessee 🏴🤙🏼
The set comes with a lid here. armynavyoutdoors.com/military-canteen-cook-set We also have the GI canteen cup but the one in this video has been out of stock due to supply
Joseph , I did not see your question online as to if the top comes in stainless steel also. No but we have cut the chain and added a small clasp if you want to use it in a larger fire. If you use it on a stove or smoldering it is fine. I assume that is why you are asking ?
Locally made? You sure that's not made in China bro? I got one just like that one. Same writing on the bottom of the cup and all that. It was made in China...........
Thanks for the comment. It is not local and it is from China. I do not think I said local but i can see how it may be understood? A friend of ours makes them overseas and imports them directly. He sells them in his shop and online through a couple people. It is a good copy. I shop the surplus markets and it is as close as they come to the original that i found.
i just got one only the canteen... it is a good buy i like the thing very much i have another one from the canteen shop not as wide as the opening but still very nice, the opening is a bit bigger and also awkward to drink out of from the canteen shop, this is a little more back to the basic's but stainless steel witch i like.. i ripped the chain off mine already i don't care for that... have to make a video ....
