Barry I. Grauman, these screen song cartoon were just the 1940s version of the Max Fleischer ones of the 30s. Just not as good in animation or quality.
Oh geez I remember ever sound effect of this cartoon in sequence..which i thought was lost forever. I DONT EVEN KNOW HOW I STUMBLED ACROSS THIS!! Regardless, thanks for reinstating some of my lost memory ;)
I have definitely seen this before, I THINK it was one of many weird cartoons on a VHS called "Guttedrømmer" ("Boys' dreams"). The film as a whole creeped me out as fuck, and it was badly dubbed.

@ttmarlene "Childhood Memories!" Did anybody catch the last soft drink order from the nasaly "Arnold Stang-like voice"; for a "two cents plain?". New Yorkese for seltzer water. Still makes me laugh, and you can't help but sing along with the song.
I used to have a VHS tape of all of these sing-a-longs and they were always fun to watch when I was little! Probably gonna show them to my kids one day...instead of the some of the stuff they show today.
The cool thing about these cartoons is that they first aired in theaters, and the audience was supposed to sing along during the lyrical part. Really neat way of getting a bunch of strangers to work together. :D
I sure hope my mom didn't get rid of this video we had when growing up as a kid. I am a kid at heart and totally LOVE THIS STILL!!!!!!!!! I totally am going to see if I can get that exact version of the Beautiful Doll song on iTunes!!!
