Maybe the way how I tinted wb to the cooler side adds more to this perception. As far as I remember, there was a lot of greenery on the streets as well. But I’m a tourist so I can’t really judge if you know what I mean:)

@@snakeytales I've shot them both quite a lot. Amber's quality control isn't great, but they're both just 500T. I prefer to pay less and roll my own 500T. You can rate it at 800 and dev as normal so it's a lot cheaper.
@@RoryChapman It’s not about quality control: Amber removes remjet from 500T, hence damages the film in different ways. CineStill doesn’t have this problem at a first place. I invite you once again to check video and pay attention for macro shots to see the difference that backs up my point. Anyways, thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts!
@RoryChapman Agree, but I don’t want to mess around with ecn-2 processing at home and here in NL ecn-2 dev costs around 20€ incl. return shipping:( Also since I rarely shoot any of tungsten balanced films I would rather buy a fresh roll from CineStill and be sure that it will be scratch free and so on. But yeah, as usual, it always depends on your personal preference and application.
You are a little crazy, so instead of it costing $500 like the Pentax 17 it'll cost $1,500 to $2,000. Let's see if there's even a big enough market for the Pentax 17 they will probably lose money on that. There are already vintage half frame cameras that are better and cost a lot less. Didn't you say manual Advance on your dream camera? I like that idea but I don't think that would ever happen also didn't you say that it would be good to have a 28 and 40 mm lens I don't think that would ever happen either and would likely lower the quality of the photos. Also you can just go to the thrift store and for $30 buy a Canon Rebel or equivalent 35 mm camera and get a lot what you're asking for it's just 4 times as big.
thanks for the feedback! 500 (600 with tax) is for the MVP version with no AF and 35/2.8 or 3.5 > even a big enough market for the Pentax 17 idk how they did the market research, as for me, Kodak (RETO) Ektar H35N fills the need for the new half frame camera demand and has 2,5K reviews on amazon.de, so in reality they sold maybe x4 units or even more. And it is 10 (TEN) times cheaper producing the same "meh" half frame results. I have 2 Nikon F80 for 25euro both and they are excellent cameras, adding cheap YN 35/2.0 and it is the beast of a combo. BUT (there is always but:) I'm talking about pocket sized P&S camera similar to Ricoh GR1(s/v) or Contax 1 or 3 or Olympus XA which is always in my pocket with me.
T3 is almost that "dream option", only UX is different with complicated access to ev comp and MF options. I assume that target group back then was completely different and it cost HUGE amount of money so it was more a luxury toy rather than a tool for a photographer. Also imagine the bias from "professional photographers" of that time towards such a small thingy. But I agree, nowadays technology is more advanced and relatively more accessible. The only question is demand and return on investment. And my point is that instead of waisting time of professional engineers/designers and spending time on "PeNtAx cRaFt" with 5-6 different textures/materials for the body of "a toy camera no one asked for" is pretty questionable move. Specially for 550+. Because then you need to go and buy your first film roll from a fancy hipster shop for 15 + dev/scan for 20 and after 2-3 attempts you'll decide to sell it off on eBay for half a price or even less.

Vic, I like to watch your videos, but this one stands out. It's very warm and cozy =) Reminds me my favorite - the one where you ride a bike, then train, then you are on the seashore. It was somewhere near AMS and you were shooting sunset, if I'm not mistaken. You were drinking coffee, it was very windy. And then then you return home and the cat welcomes you. It was a couple of years ago, so I may mix some details. Sorry for that, but this is the way how it remain in my mind. Probably some shots are not perfect, you are right (I'm not a photographer at all, so I cannot judge, it's just a feeling), but they perfectly shows the beauty and the joy of the moment. And they also shows you, living this moment. It's really amazing, gonna watch it once more :-) BTW, don't you think it worth to run you own film photo laboratory in the US? Looks like a perfect business-plan, haha UPD. It wouldn't be if you didn't find a cat at any place 😁
By all means I’m not an expert or something:)) but looking at their line up I can say that with 99% probability that they also buy kodak motion picture film and remove remjet layer. So probably results would be more or less similar to Amber. Maybe they figured out how to remove it better than Amber? As I replied to someone else there, my hot-take that CineStill orders regular photo film with genuine emulsion which is used for Vision 3 5219 (or others like 400D and so on) and in that process there’s no remjet layer at all so no need to remove anything.
From all the mud-slinging going Cinestill's way, this is further evidence that they do really good work. The general vibe is that all of the chemistry and care they've put into their film produces a stock that's much more 'pro' in its quality compared to more cost-effective films like Amber.
Fully agree with you! Probably communication wise they could do a better job (I mean these posts on Reddit) but in terms of quality I would definitely stick to Cinestill 800T since I prefer to be sure in results which I get. Unfortunately Amber T800 doesn't work for me.
@@snakeytales Yeh, it looks like they were silent for a little too long with all the stink that was happening on Reddit, so it grew and grew. But I'd imagine they learned their lesson; that people are fine individually, but are collective morons.
@@jameslenney exactly:)) idk what prevents them from showing that their film is something different from the re-spooled 500T. Also taking into consideration that that Amber is only 0.5$ cheaper but 10 frames less (27 instead of 36 which are usually 37)!
@@snakeytales Yeh, the difference really isn't huge. I think this happens when 'content creators' realise that they can feed the reddit dragon by simply agreeing with controversial things. Cinestill's statement Wass super interesting when read in full and it looks like they're a small/medium-sized company trying to protect their valuable IP. Anyway, well done for creating a vid that seems balanced and interested in real life. Nice stuff :)
Hi! Which one of these three? But in any case if I don’t use a camera for a long time and there is no film inside, I remove the battery just to be sure that it will not leak accidentally. So no, I haven’t had any issues so far with Big mini and T2, T4 I sold out.
@@whyborn2032 that’s indeed sounds weird:( Maybe flash capacitor drains it or something similar. Worth to make a CLR, hopefully it will be something easy to fix🤞🏻
Thanks! Which one did you choose? Regarding film stocks, actually it’s all depends on the scene and mood. Typically for color it’s Kodak Gold and UltraMax, sometimes Fuji Superia X-Tra 400. For B&W it’s ADOX CHS II and Ilford Delta 400. But again, there plenty of other cool options: ADOX Color Mission, CineStill range, FujiColor and so on and so forth.

@@snakeytales ah perfect will check that one out as well! I just experienced a problem, my konika didn’t make any photos anymore. When i pushed the infinity mode it made pictures again. Now after making several pictures on infinity mode it worked without pushing this button. Do you have any idea what happened?
