Welcome to my channel! I am a wife, homeschooling mom of 3, and entrepreneur. Follow me as we discuss home education, motherhood, life, and everything in between.
I see this is quite an old video. By now your child would be in 12th grade or just graduated. Did you happen to finish out using ace paces ? If so how did it go? Ty
Hi! He actually just started his freshman year in college! We decided to allow him to go to public school in the 10th grade. He graduated top of his class with honors. My daughter is now in 10th grade, attending public school (since 9th grade), and has been placed in AP and honors courses by recommendation from her teachers. My 11 year old is currently homeschooling, using ACE. I feel thar ACE gave them a great foundation. We did use other curriculum resources, but I will always recommend this curriculum.
Thank you for making this detailed video. I'm going to be homeschooling my son for the first time this coming Fall, and this video has helped me make my choice on the curriculum. ☺
Katherine McCullough Thank you so much! I am glad that this video has helped you! Congratulations on deciding to homeschool! We will be using A.C.E. again for the upcoming school year! 😀
Liz Crouch Thank you so much for your encouragement and for watching! Testing can take up to 4 hours or less. It really depends on the child. After a certain number is missed, the test stops for that subject. If they are getting the answers correct, it moves them up levels (this could take longer). I usually just divide test days into 2 days so that they are not overwhelmed. You can get all testing done in one day if that works better for you! I wish you the best! I can honestly say that A.C.E. is the best curriculum that we have used so far! ☺
Good for you Tracy.. we all need to do what works for our kiddos/ for our family. TY so much for sharing. I went to 2 different A.C.E. schools 2nd-9th grade.. I would have been on cloud 1 million if I could have just homeschooled w/ the A.C.E. curricula. Would have avoided so much of the obnoxious adolescent drama.. & "wanna be" teacher's power trips.. My only school aged child at this time.. loves the A.C.E. paces & thinks that they're just fun little workbooks.. so we do use A.C.E. in our homeschool, but in a very relaxed way.. This company is called A.C.E. as in just saying the names of the letters.. rather than the name ACE... just sharing.. TY again for taking the time to share. It's always great to see how others do homeschool.. Hope all is well.. (=
Thank you so much for your comment! I had to get used to not saying ACE, but I am good with all of the terminologies now. I am so glad that you had a good experience with the school and the curriculum. It is really good to hear from someone who is a product of A.C.E. I wish much success on your journey!
Thank you.. greatly appreciate your reply.. We do use other curricula as well.. but A.C.E. truly is a great blessing. I know of many people who've received a very sound & solid education from A.C.E.; and that goes for numerous people from all around the world. I know that there are some folks who take issue w/ certain ways A.C.E. has done things, but with all honesty I never noticed those issues as a child.. and in no way did that shape or lead me in a negative way in how to treat others who may believe or even look different than me.. as a child I just remember trying to learn & understand my school work that was at hand.. And I just always appreciated the Bible that was being taught, because I knew that the objective was to help all of us kids know & love the Lord.. & others.. Pray the Lord continues to bless you & yours greatly.. sk. (=
Thank you. I would like to add this website and very resourceful and free. It has Math,Science, history and your children would probably like it too www.Khanacademy.com
Do you make lesson plans and actually schedule all these resources into your homeschool year? I love my mixed resources that I have purchased or have been given but scheduling it seems to be my weak spot. I would like to be able to have lessons written in a planner. Do you do that or just skip the planning step?
Hi! Thank you for watching! Planning is very helpful but doesn't work for everyone. I love structure and organization, so planning is a must for me to keep my sanity. However, I know many homeschoolers who do very little planning and just allow kids or they day determine what is studied. It can also be tempting to overschedule. Realizing that we get a lot done in a few hours when homeschooling helps. We can have the kids do a nature study, drawing some interesting things from nature into a journal. In this way, we have gotten science and art done at once. Planning also helps with my record keeping. I can print out or keep my plans to show what we have covered in a school year. The planner that I am currently using is www.christianbook.com/the-ultimate-homeschool-planner/debra-bell/9781940110400/pd/124809?dv=%7Bdevice%7D&en=google&event=SHOP&kw=homeschool-20-40%7C124809&p=1179710&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjdLOBRCkARIsAFj5-GC-mRFAARcsxM6ULaEn0Yb2EHr073HuN-_24jCjiPqr_Dwk5PhzYU8aAicSEALw_wcB. There are so many to choose from! I wish you all the best in your home education journey.
Gosh, I just realized I haven't been seeing your updates because I didn't hit the bell! So now I'm going to get frequent updates from you :-) I understand what you are saying about K12. There is very little flexibility with it (and with Connections Academy too). I was so happy when we pulled out! With your son's medical condition that must have been hard to keep up with the rigid schedule. I'm glad you made the best decision for your family regarding school this year. I have heard of ACE. It seems somewhat similar to Lifepacs but a bit more in depth. I like that you can pick and choose your own subjects.
Thank you for your uplifting comments. My Mom just found out our family has decided to homeschool. She laughed in my face when I told her why the choice was made. I just pray God will open her eyes.
So happy to have found this video! Thanks so much for taking the time to share this curriculum. My daughter is starting it this school year, and we love it so far. So nice to get another homeschool moms opinions on it :) God bless you and your family in the upcoming school year
Thank you so much for watching! I am so happy that you found it helpful! I will try to give an update on how we are doing with ACE throughout the year! God bless you and your family as well! :-)
Reading really frightens my daughter at the start as she might make mistakes. I used this reading guide “fetching loli only” (Google it) for 2 months and later discovered that she is already reading beginner novels on her own! The results truly surprised me! The program is fantastic for any age limit.
Reading really scares my little princess at the start as she might make errors. I made use of this reading guideline “Wamzοzο Loli” (Google it) for two months and later found out that she is already reading beginner novels on her own! We`re very impressed with the results! The program is excellent for any age limit.
I have definitely found some awesome books/workbooks at the thrift store. I have bought some as low as 10 cents! Yup, the thrift store can be a homeschooler's best friend! :) :)
I'm sorry to keep asking you questions. I wanted to know where did you get your lined paper for writing? I was wondering if I should go to Walmart or if there's other options.
No problem! Ask away! I actually printed mine out from www.first-school.ws/theme/printables/writing-paper/handwriting.htm. If you haven't used this website, check it out!
Tracy Kelly great! I just took your suggestion and put the pages of a workbook I had in a binder and I love the flexibility of being able to put it in my own order. I really wish they had pictures of the preK book. Did you get the preK book? The K one looks like it might work for my son but I wasn't sure if it would be too advanced for him since they don't show pictures of the preK one
Unfortunately, they don't have a look inside of that one! I didn't purchase that particular one. I am sure that the some may work, depending on where he is, but a good preschool one is great to have until they master certain skills. Some of it is too advance for my son as well!
I am glad that you could use the resources! My pleasure! I do not teach year round, but I know many people that do! It is a great way to keep the kids in learning mode! I am considering it as the kids get older! :-)
Such a great video!! I praying we will be able to start this year with my upcoming 2nd, 4th grader as well as my 3yr old who I have recently started a pre k3 program thru Easy Peasy program. I wanted to ask you, do any of the subjects align from grade to grade? Example: let's take history, does your 3rd and 6th graders lesson teach the same topic at the same time?
Hi! Thank you so much! I love Easy Peasy and have used it throughout our homeschooling journey. Unfortunately, with ACE, it does not align from grade to grade. However, here is a suggestion, you could purchase part of the curriculum and find a history and science that you can easily align. You could even use online resources and make it your own! Having subjects that you can teach as a group makes it so much easier! I wish you all the best on your homeschooling journey! Don't hesitate to message me if you need any help!
You will love Trumpet of the Swan. It is one of my favorites as a kid. Try Half Price Books online. It is a local bookstore here, and they tend to have some good prices.
Tracy Kelly I just came across your channel today. We are new to homeschooling, we just started In January with Easy Peasy, and I think I am going to create my own curriculum for next year
Welcome to homeschooling! I hope that you are enjoying your journey so far! I also have used Easy Peasy! I think that her website is excellent, but I also love the freedom of choosing what I am teaching! Next year, I will have a middle schooler, so I decided to buy a boxed curriculum for next year (because the material gets a lot more complicated), but my heart is with creating my eclectic curriculum! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. This makes almost 7 years of homeschooling, so I have picked up a lot of resources and websites along the way!
We just started using ACE a few weeks ago. It was cute to see my first grader praying on her own before she did her first PACE test. So far my kids like ACE.
Thank you so much for your comment! I am so glad to hear that you all like it! Seeing kids learn to communicate with God is so precious! I can't wait to start! :-)
Perfect length video! I appreciate the very detailed look into the curriculum. It will be of great help to many families. You personal perspective is great. Please come back and give, a quarterly update. I have looked into this curriculum, as well as other Biblical based. Not thru video first. I always go to the source. I came across some interesting things in researching the samples, and such. Letting prayer be my guide, I let these curriculums sit. Thanks, Tracy!
Hi!! good video..my wife is also a homeschool mom and started a new channel@ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-78NciOLU4_E.html. please also go and support one another...would be appreciated...Thanks and good luck!
