Dragonfly Energy is the leader in lithium-ion deep cycle batteries, making renewable energy accessible and affordable. Well-known for the consumer brand, Battle Born Batteries, Dragonfly's revolutionary, non-toxic line of LiFePO4 products are displacing lead acid batteries across industries--RV, marine, material, handling, off-grid applications, and more. Leading the charge in green energy storage, the future of technologies of Dragonfly Energy are working to solve intermittency today for smarter energy storage tomorrow.
May I charge the big li-ion battery of my ebike in my apartment and then store it on the balcony for the night, even if the temperature in winter can go down to -5 Celsius? I will have performance issues the morning after when I mount it on the bicycle to go to work? I'm pretty scared from thermal-runaway events, and I would like to not keep the battery in the same environment where I sleep... Any suggestion?
OK SO, What's the actual difference between dragonfly and battle born?.. ive watched your video which explains DF is not for the the diy consumer but for companies like Keystone RV. I'm considering going with a Battleborn package for my Sailboat, however this differentiation makes me skeptible. Thank you
I thought you guys were straight, so is the lithium being intercalated into the graphite. .. Because anode or cathode being when you mentioned intercalation material . One has to travel in order to be stored inside the other. So are you straight. Probably only have one guy explaining please.
for a starter battery in an engine compartment (under the hood) of an automobile, the bay temps can easily/routinely reach 130 deg F with not much airflow over the battery itself. If you drive anywhere in the summer heat where the temps can reach 100 deg F , the battery can easily reach 140+ F . I would be cautious about using Lithium in an engine compartment or anywhere near heat generating components. I believe this is something most Lithium battery companies fail to address. I think R&D should make this a prime focus, if you make a battery that can perform (charge and discharge) in extreme heat , that would be a game changer and I believe could have a niche spot in the market.
Is lithium an unlimited or renewable resource (oil almost is) ... setting aside the theory of recyclability? What is the maxium percentage of energy needs that can be met (from the theoretical stand point) of the current known sources of lithium? .. In other words, how much lithium does man think he has access to ... and what are the energy costs to make it provide the current (pun intended) known demands for societal energy needs?
Yes 👍 everyday we find more lithium it’s everywhere and in many forms like Spodumene (mined from rock lithium ) Clay lithium ,and brine lithium DLE direct lithium extraction and then you have to ask yourself why lithium!!! When we have IRON FLOW batteries from ESS VANADIUM FLOW batteries and IRON AIR batteries from form energy And we have to see what happens with Sodium and sulfur battery technology. if you want to invest in battery technology it’s a full time job because there are thousands of battery company start ups
I live in North Dakota and i will have to test a lithium batteries in my car and semi truck next winter. You should do a video about what happens when lead batteries try to give/receive charge
hello thank you for good viode , please i have some questions 1- i bought new Electric Motocycle and New lithium phosphat Iorn Battery i discharged it completly and recharge it 100% , red light of charger convert to Green but when i install iot in Motocycle Screen shoe me that Battery not 100% charged 3 Degrees from 4 degress my question what is reason ? is Charger or Battery or display of motocycle ? in my country austria is too cold almost 2 or 3 C also after 3 Kilometer distance batter now 2 degrees from 4 !! too fast drain my battery is 60V 40 A 2 -when i use throttle of mototcycle degrees of battery decrease to two degrees and then come back to three it that normal ?
We recommend fully charging your batteries and completely disconnecting them for storage. To ensure the safety of your batteries, we recommend not storing them in subzero temperatures.
Most off grid lithium mfrs advise no charging below 32F. Is this merely a safety factor exaggeration or are there different temperature points for different batteries?
The battery management system (BMS) within our batteries will not allow them to accept a charge when their internal temperature is below 25°F to protect them from unsafe operating conditions. However, if you expect your batteries to need to operate in below freezing temperatures, our internally heated batteries will allow them to continue to function no matter how low the temperature drops!
Thanks for the video! Are there specific batteries that Dragonfly / Battle Born produces just for the lift gates? Are they a "drop in" replacement solution for traditional lead-acid batteries?
Hi! Yes, we offer custom solutions for lift gate applications. Our technical sales team would be happy to help you determine what would be the best fit for you! You can reach them at (855) 292-2831 (M-F 8:00am - 4:30pm (PST)).
I grew up watching his show and I loved how unique and different he is . He always changes things up and isn’t afraid to change and be himself . One of the most genuine people from the entertainment world .
This is really an enjoyable discussion. Thank You. You likely have thought of it ... but sometimes I ask questions that are outside the box of conventional theory and practice ... of things. This is often the basis for motive. In seeking low or minimal waste ... one aspect is efficiency .. Being that all the known lithium in the world (so told), if mined could only provide 15 5 of the energy needs (putting aside the massive collateral harm from harvesting and processing) ... it appears not to be a "renewable", such as crude that the earth makes a lot of but not many can or do access it (safely) ... oil companies love the quest for electric ... they make even more (nothing against profit .. but moral and impact also is important). Now to the question from the video, ... can one investigate, R/D the rejuvenation of spent lithium (recycling the lithium batteries mores) ... meaning to make it viable and useful (hopefully other than warfare ... which is terrible)? Keep up the good work and thank you.
Our batteries protect themselves from charging in cold temperatures and won’t accept a charge once the internal cell temperature drops to 24°F (~-4°C). At this point, they will continue to discharge even down to -4°F (-20 °C). At this temperature, we recommend no longer pulling power to avoid damaging the batteries. Since your battery will be operating in consistently subzero temperatures, we recommend using insulated battery boxes, heating blankets, placing your battery bank inside, or using a heated battery to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
Awesome PC, very informative, thanks, guys! Out of curiosity are there any trucking companies that have started making the switch and are buying Dragonfly batteries for their sleeper cabin power needs yet?
What you are saying is not correct! Only when charging a battery, the cathode is negative. The definitions of cathode and anode in an electrochemical cell are: at the cathode, chemical reduction takes place, at the anode chemical oxidation.
Enjoyed this interview with Mr Tom Green. Battleborn has set him up to make music and film out in the remote Wilderness of Canada. We obviously have a lot of excellent content to come from @tomgreenlive.
